Chapter 19: Lesnite Town

The site wasn't that far so it wasn't long until they've arrived at their destination. But, they were somehow amazed by what they were seeing.

The building was still half-done and it was not that big nor small but with one glance, anyone could tell that it would be a nice place.

At a distance, the manager of the site noticed Diana and he gladly approached them with a smile, "Lady Diana! It's good to see you! And... your highness? What a pleasant surprise!"

"It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm sorry for my sudden visit."

"Not at all! Please don't apologize, Lady Diana. We're glad that we finally got to meet you!"

Diana smiled at his excited response, "How is the operation doing? Did you encounter any casualties or problems?"

"So far we did not, on the contrary, everyone is thrilled than usual and it is making the process smooth."

"Is that so? I'm appalled by how fast the construction is developing. I hope everyone still has time for themselves and not rushing things."

"Of course not! Truthfully, they're all motivated and having fun at work. I suppose they also can't wait to see for the results."

The manager grinned like a cheeky boy who's purely happy. Diana looked over the men on the site and could see how hard they were working. Although she won't know for sure if they were motivated just to see the results, at least for now she was happy with the progress.

"Then, if there's nothing else I should go back to work as well! Have a good day, Lady Diana."

"I have high expectations for everyone." Diana charmingly smiled.

She might not know this herself but everyone is captivated whenever she smiles so gently and of course, the three people who were tagging along with her have already noticed it.

As the manager gave a satisfying smile, he waved goodbye and went back to work.

"Diana, you're awesome," Jonathan exclaimed.

"Heh. Why wouldn't I be?"

With Diana's proud response, they were amazed by how she handled the business affairs since it was uncommon for a lady to know things about business at Northlyn or any other nation.

A few moments later, they've decided to have a meal but since Jonathan still had some of his unfinished tasks, he left early which leaves the two of them alone once again.

Although Eva was with them, it felt like she wasn't because she concealed her presence perfectly behind them.

"Do you have something that you prefer to eat?" Devin asked Diana.

"I have none but his highness could recommend me some."

"I see... I suppose we can still arrive there in time before the sun sets."

As they got into the carriage, Devin told the coachman their destination, "Please head to Lesnite town."

Hearing where they were heading, Diana felt that it was a familiar name and it wasn't long until they've arrived at the town but due to the crowd of people, the carriage couldn't get into the busy street that resulted in them walking.

Diana gradually realized that it was the town that's being managed by Devin as per orders by the Emperor. Her eyes glanced through the surroundings and felt stunned as she thought of how truly crowded it was, "Is there perhaps a festival going on?"

Devin chuckled with her question and answered her, "There's none. If there were a festival going, then it would be even more packed than usual so today is quite normal.

"Wow, you must be making lots of money..." Diana blurted out unconsciously.

"Judging by the way you say it, looks like it's the first time you came here so let us take our time as we reach our destination."

Along the way, she was surprised by how much more lively the Lesnite town was than the Agorith town but rather than lively, it was too rowdy for her. Every people of different ages, countries, nationalities was gathered all over the town and she can't seem to spot a place where it could be quiet.

While walking, Diana spotted a fortune-telling shop on the side of the street. Since every store had full of customers, the purple tent with a fortune-telling sign that had very few customers caught her attention.

Devin noticed how the way she looked at the shop and slightly pushed her towards the purple tent, "You can try it if you want to."

"Wh... what... But isn't it a bit childish?"

"Don't worry about it, you can just have fun knowing your fortune. Besides, I would also love to hear about it."

She hesitated at first since it was truly childish and she never believed in fortune-telling in the first place but even so it wouldn't hurt her to know about her fortune. And so, she goes in alone as only one could enter at a time.

As she sat down and glanced through the eerie surroundings, she was suddenly asked by the middle-aged fortune-teller man, "Is there something you'd like to know?"

With the sudden question, she tried to think about it and thought that she had none but not until she remembered her situation.

Suddenly, a bunch of questions came through her head but not a single one came out of her mouth as she was certain that she would be doubted.

"..... When... and where am I going to die?"

The fortune-teller abruptly grabbed Diana's chin right after her sentence and scanned her face thoroughly. While Diana was utterly surprised that her heart almost jumped out of her.

A few seconds later, the fortune teller was stunned and snickered as he slowly goes back to his seat, "Who are you? Why are emitting such a dangerous black aura?"

"Is that connected to my question? Tell me, when do you think I'll die."

"You can't. You've become immortal."

... Immortal...? Who would believe such nonsense?!

"You're speaking nonsense."

Diana angrily stood up right away, preparing to leave as she doesn't want to hear any absurd comments. She was also a human so there was no way that she could be immortal but as she was just about to leave she suddenly stopped after hearing out the fortune teller.

"You've had injuries for the past few weeks, am I right? To be exact, three minor injuries."

Diana turns around and slams the table, "How do you know that? Stalker?"

"Stalker? Hahahaha how funny! Well, your immortality sounds a joke since this is also my first time encountering one but let me tell you that the pain is just starting."

"What pain?"

"You may be immortal but you'll still be feeling the pain, so I suggest that you take care of yourself."

"Hmph. Rubbish." Diana turns around and was about to leave when she was abruptly called out once again.

"Hey lady, catch!"

The man throws some sort of a small object at Diana and she was able to catch it with one hand.

"I don't know what that is but my guts are telling me to let you have it. It's a memento from my mother so don't lose it. You never know, it might help you with your problem."

Diana was quite annoyed and had doubts about what he was saying but either way, she accepted the object and left the place as she approached Devin and Eva.

"Already done? How was it? Was it to your liking?"

"I suppose... it exceeded my expectations."

It was truly a scammer, a fraud, a joke! I can't believe that I listened to his nonsense.

"I see. Then, shall we?" Devin smiles as he extended his hand.

As they walked into a diner and ordered food, Diana was lost in her thoughts as she couldn't forget about the words the man said. Although Devin noticed her behavior, he didn't pry and let her be while making sure she was eating.

Even as Devin brought her back home, she was silent.

"Lady Diana, we're almost there."

"Huh? Oh..."

"I had a great meal today thanks to you."

"...Likewise, your highness."

"By the time I return, I hope I could spend more time with you."

"Are... you going somewhere?"

Devin silently smiled at his response and as they finally arrived at the gate, Devin gently grabs her hand and plants a kiss on the back of her hand, "See you next time, Lady Diana."

He swiftly goes back to the carriage leaving Diana a little flustered.

Without notice, Eric creeps behind Diana, "Why are you still standing outside?"

"Wha... What are you doing? Scaring me like that..."

"Were you with Devin?" Eric suspiciously asked as they walked inside.

"Yeah... why? And it's his highness. Why're you just calling by his name... Do you want death?"

"I just hate him. You should be careful when you're with him. He's creepy."

"Oh yeah? Well, what do you know? You've finally met your twin brother."

Eric was confused for a moment but then realize what she meant that he got slightly flustered.

"I- I'm not creepy!"
