Ashley's Prince Part 2

Chapter 15

»But when Ashley was eighteen she realized the reality that there was no prince and no princess. Ashley did not realize that her vision was not the same as before, there was no waiting for the prince because the traces of the youth had completely disappeared.«

"By the way Guardian of Soul, what's your name?" I stopped laughing when he asked me that.

Maybe it's not superfluous if I tell him, right?

"Mary, Mary Sean." There, I looked at him again. That is when he smiled so wide at me that made his eyes almost gone.

"You're beautiful," he said that and there, I found myself laughing again. The memory that this is not my real face made me laugh even more.

Isn't he aware?

"What are you talking about? You see, this isn't my real face." But when I said that he quickly scolded me.

"You know what, grim reaper doesn't look at the face or a physical appearance of a human. Because we see the soul inside. Do you get me? That means I can see you being you not being the body you are possessing." I was stunned at what he just said.

Oh, is that so? Saint didn't tell me about that. But yeah, what can I expect from that one.

"So, you are Mary, well I'm Gavin." He introduced.

That made my eyebrows arc. "Nice name," I commented.

"Thanks, though it is not the first time I heard that. Some of those grim reapers tell it too, my name is kinda good." He then bragged.

Yeah, his name is nice but I prepared Saint name kinda holy but, yeah, seems doesn't suitable to him. He isn't nice after all, or maybe nice sometimes but not all the time.

Contradict of my brain, things that I did not even realise.

I just kept listening to Gavin and let him start bragging. "To tell you honestly, I'm popular in our realm." I just gasped at his arrogance. Realising it sooner, I did not make any mistake, he was arrogant. "But yeah, Saint was much more than popular. Well, the perks of being the most hated Grim Reaper after all." He added. I was no longer surprised there. It seems to them that Saint is the most unfriendly. Good for him. "But despite that, he was really scary." I turned to him.

Is that serious?

"All of you are scary," I commented.

"No! Saint is more than fearsome Mary." He seriously said this time.

"What do you mean?" I curiously asked.

"Of all Grim—" Gavin didn't finish what he was going to say when he was suddenly stopped by the creature we were talking about.

»One night while busy answering assignments Ashley was surprised when there was a knock from her window. At first, she ignored it but when it happened again she begins to be scared. So, while carrying a book she opened the window but her intention to strike at anyone was stopped when she saw a man just sitting at edges of a window wearing a fancy robe.«

"You're talking too much Gavin leaves her alone or I won't count a second you'll be ashes." Gavin quickly stood up at four o'clock from sitting next to me just by hearing such a warning.

"Man, we're friends right?" He seemed to be convincing Saint who was just looking at me.

"I don't do friendship Gavin stop spouting nonsense, get lost." I don't understand but I think Saint is glancing badly at me as if I did something he didn't like.

What the hell?

"Okay, but before I go I would like to invite you and Mary to a gathering at my place. You know so much work can toxic us we should have fun a little bit, right?" Gavin happily invited us. He tapped my shoulder slightly as if we were close. That did not escape Saint's sight.

"Gavin I will just remind you that you have 5,569 copies of the report that haven't passed yet and to tell you honestly I'm sick of seeing and talking to you so kinda get lost before I kill you in an instant it won't be a bother writing 1000 copies of a report just so I can kill you," Saint said that with no emotion at all and seems to be just saying something that is not very important.

When their eyes met a word came out of man's mouth, "Do you wait too much?"

»It was only then that Ashley realized that the man in front of her was the prince she had been waiting for.

The End!«

Ashley's Prince story was one of my favourite bedtime short stories when I was a kid. Dad often read this to me because even I experienced being a princess though we were not rich.

But when I read it again last night I suddenly realized something this story implies. That is, all women are princesses and have their princes. That we do not have to wait, because he will come to the point we least expect. All we have to do is prepare ourselves to be worthy of the person God has in store for us.

"Okay! Okay! I'm leaving." In a flash, Gavin disappeared like a bubble in front of us. However that did not surprise me, but the question Saint dropped.

"Do you wait too much?" He asked while just staring into my eyes.
