Chapter Forty-Five

Were those...wings?

"Um, yes?"

The wings faded into thin air just as miraculously as they had appeared.

"I knew it!"

Chuckling Gloria raised an eyebrow.

"You're not human are you." He'd questioned it a while ago.

The three were too awe-inspiring, too wonderful to be human.

"Pfft, Of course, I'm human." Gloria laughed.

"But how come-"

"You don't need to know." She teased.

William smiled. It was easy to relax around her.

She still glowed and he was trying his best not to freak out.

The water was very clean and clear, so clear that one could see its depths.

He chanced a look at Gloria again and a million thoughts ran through his head.

He knew that the end could be at any moment and he knew the implication of that. Not only would they face a nearly insurmountable foe but he was curious about the hereafter.

"Do you get scared?"

His eyes widened. He couldn't believe he'd blurted out the question.
