Kelley sat shaking on the bed, after the events of this morning she now knew not to run again.
She had woken a little after six Ice was sleeping. She slipped from under him tip toeing across the motel room picking up the car keys hoping that she’d remember enough to get her home and back to Kieran. She edged the door open it slammed shut; she looked up into his angered ice blue eyes, burning through hers. ‘Where do you think you are going Kelley?’
‘I..I..’
‘Ash’s mother tried this, and failed what makes you think you wouldn’t?’
‘I…’
He pinned her against the door, his eyes full of anger and deceit. ‘I thought we had an understanding?’
‘We do.’
‘So why are you trying to run?’
‘Kieran will be worried about me.’
‘He can have you back once I’m finished with you.’
‘Please Ice this isn’t the way.’
‘Oh, but it is.’
‘Please Ice.’ She begged.
‘You’re here with me got that?’ He stared into her eyes emotionless. ‘Got that!’
‘Yeah.’
‘Don’t lose me down Kelley. I always admired you you don’t judge; don’t let all I thought was right turn out to be wrong.’
‘I won’t.’
‘Keys.’
She looked at him.
‘Keys!’
She placed them into his hand, hers shaking.
He closed his hand round them. ‘Now we’ve got over that escapee we can eat and move on.’
‘Where are we going?’
‘Where ever the road takes us, until we find Ashleigh.’
She looked at him feared.
‘Come on lets grab a bite to eat. And, try to act normal.’
He took her hand leading her out of their motel room over to the restaurant.
They’d arrived at their next destination a little after lunch they’d eaten, and had gone into their room. Ice had gone to shower taking no chances he’d taken the key with him.
Kelley had washed briefly and was sitting on the bed wondering what Ice had planned, and what his next move was, if Sandman would really turn up, and when? If he would at all. Ice strode into the bedroom, a towel wrapped around his waist showing his muscular, tattooed body. He looked at her. ‘Are you okay Kelley?’
‘Just a little cold.’
‘They assured me the heating would be on.’
‘It is, I’m just a little..’
He knelt down looking into her eyes.’ I’m sorry if I startled you earlier, but I couldn’t have you getting away. I can’t do this without you Kelley.’
‘He won’t like it.’
‘He doesn’t have to. I’m going to find Ash he can go screw. I will see my daughter with or with his permission.’
‘Think about what you’re doing Ice.’
‘I have for the last six months Kelley.’
‘How did you survive?’
‘Just say I know people, and so does Sandy.’
‘Is that where Justin is?’
‘Till he’s fully recovered yes.’
‘Just watch yourself.’
‘I always do.’
She looked at him; he placed his hand on her face. ‘I remember the first time we met you were only nine, now look at you all grown up.’ He edged forward. ‘I meant everything I said to you Kelley.’
He pressed his lips on hers kissing her. She backed away he looked at her confused. ‘I can’t Kieran.’
‘He aint here.’
‘I’m sorry I can’t.’
‘He won’t have to know.’
He edged forward.
‘What do you want Ice I’m old enough to be your daughter?’
‘So, I like you, and I know you feel the same. At a guess Kieran knows your secret too?’
‘I.. .’
‘I thought so.’
He edged forward.
‘I..’
‘We’re all alone Kelley. This is between us.’
‘I..’
He pressed his lips on hers kissing her she returned his kiss foolishly hi slid his tongue in kissing her harder and harder. He lowered her to the bed; his towel fell to the floor. Goose bumps prickled her flesh as he caressed it with his fingertips. He slipped inside her making love to her. Talking into her ear. ‘Where are they Kelley?’
‘I don’t know.’
‘Where are they?’ He asked pushing deeper.
‘The Cross Keys that’s all I know.’
He pressed his lips on her cheek kissing her. ‘That’s all I need to know.’ He pressed his lips on hers kissing her.
Kelley opened her eyes his muscular tattooed arm lay over her, what had she done? She loved Kieran she’d vowed never to deceive him, and here she was naked next to her best friend’s father. Someone she’d always admired and carried a spark for, what had she done?
She slipped from underneath him dressing slipping her feet into her wedges; she looked at him kissing him softly. ‘I’m sorry Ice.’
He twitched.
She looked at him, but he lay without any intention of waking. She picked up the keys opening the door looking back at the sleeping Ice. She opened the door slipping out of the log cabin closing the door behind her. She walked away from the log cabin hoping he hadn’t remembered anything she had told him last night. Her slip of the tongue could get her into some serious shit especially if they found where Phoenix and Ashleigh were. She sat down on the bench wondering what her next move was going to be, and of her recent actions, why had she let him take advantage. Tears dropped of her face, she had to get away and never look back. She had to run, run as fast as she could to get back to Kieran.
Ice sat next to her. ‘I wondered where you had gone.’
She looked at him dazed; suddenly her thoughts would never be her reality.
‘What’s wrong with your eyes they’re all black?’
‘Nought.’
‘You been crying again?’
‘I..’
He wiped her smudged eyes with his fingertips. ‘Is everything okay Kelley?’
‘I’m so sorry.’
‘Why?’
‘Last night.’
‘What about it?’
‘Me and you I..’
He placed his finger on her lips. ‘Don’t be okay we all get carried away.’
She looked at him.
‘I like you Kelley and I’d never hurt you, or jeopardise our friendship okay.’
He took his finger off her lips edging forward.
‘Don’t Ice.’
‘It’s just a kiss Kelley.’
‘Never the less I rather you did..’
He pressed his lips on hers cutting her sentence short. Kissing her. He moved away looking at her she looked so sincere, so lost like she had when they first met. ‘Come on we best be heading off if we want to miss the rush.’
‘Where are we going?’
‘To find Ash of course.’
‘Bu..’
‘It may take a while to get there, that’s if they’re still there.’
He pulled her to her feet. ‘We’ll grab something on the way.’ They walked away getting into the car, he pulled away. ‘It’s going to be okay Kelley.’
She smiled briefly saying nothing.
‘Where do you think they are Kieran?’
‘On the way to Cross Keys.’
‘Do you think Ice knows where it is?’
‘I hope not.’
‘Do you recon she’s told him?’
‘He has a way guys one you’ll never understand. He had to know how to survive alone just like Sandy they have a really bad family background one that turned them into manipulative liars. They hide their truth well and any in fact. Kelley was never afraid of Ice she knew all about him by the age of nine. Ash confided in her she was the only person she could trust to keep her secret, and that’s what he’ll play on. He’ll get her into a position that she can’t get out of to give him the information he needs, he’ll keep her with him till he no longer needs her.’
‘So he’s using her?’
‘I hope she realise he is. Ice will pin point her weakness and use it against her like he did with my mother.’
After having brunch Ice and Kelley got back into the car driving away. ‘Don’t worry Kelley we’ll stop for some sleep soon okay.’
‘One night?’
‘Maybe two, we’ll see.’
They pulled up on the motel a quaint spot near the woods
‘Are we always going to be staying in the wood land?’
‘Don’t you like it?’
‘It’s okay.’
‘Good come on.’
They got out of the car walking over to the motel reception booking in. Ice closed the door to their room behind them he looked at Kelley, gliding his hand down her face.
‘I need a shower.’
‘Sure.’ He said his hand falling off her face. He moved away and she walked into the bathroom closing the door behind her why he had come back, why had she let him take her?
She stepped out of the shower turning it off; wrapping a towel around her she knew that she had to go back into him though she’d rather be with Kieran then him right now. She closed the bathroom door behind her; Ice looked up at her as she walked into the bedroom. ‘Come here.’
She walked cautiously over to him, he pulled her close. ‘When this is all over we can be alone.’
‘But Ke..’
‘Shhh.’
She looked at him.
‘We’ll tell him everything okay.’
‘B..’
He pressed his lips on hers kissing her. Did she really want this to go any further? She loved Kieran. Her towel dropped from round her he touched her. ‘You’re so perfect.’ He kissed down her neck pulling her down on to the bed.
‘Please don’t Ice. I can’t do this.’
‘We’re friends aren’t we?’
‘You know we are.’
‘Well then.’
‘Friends don’t screw.’
‘But, lovers do.’
She looked at him, he pressed his lips on hers kissing her indulging in her erotically.
He pulled away wrapping his arms round her curling her hair round his fingers. ‘You shouldn’t be afraid of how you feel Kelley.’
‘I don’t know how I feel right now.’
‘Well I do. I feel more alive than I ever have, and I don’t want this ever to end when we’ve found Ash.’
‘She won’t understand.’
‘She will she knows how you feel about me.’
‘I love Kieran Ice.’
‘You love me too.’
‘Don’t put words into my mouth.’
Her curl dropped he looked at her his eyed glazed. ‘You always have Kelley no matter how many bad decisions you’ve made, no matter how much you love Kieran you love me more.’
‘Bu..’
He stared coldly at her, she lay in silence.
‘Don’t spoil this Kelley. It’s what we both always wanted. And you know it.’
He pressed his lips on hers kissing her.
He moved away lying beside her holding her close. What had she gotten herself into? She never thought he had took any notice of how she looked at him when she visited him with Ashleigh though he’d made any comments toward her as she reached her teens and the position that caused them to re think their visits alone. He pulled her close kissing her shoulder. ‘Night Kelley.’
She lay saying nothing, how was she going to get out of this?
