Two thirty Saturday morning Sandman and Ice wait patiently outside the Rock Emporium, hiding within the shadows so that they weren’t spotted. The police drive away as the last few members of staff walk out of the club. ‘See you tomorrow Jaden.’
‘See ya Karolyn.’ He said looking up.
He walked down the steps and across the car par, it was quiet no-one around, Sandman and Ice quickly looked round them then split up.
Jaden walked across the blackened car park.
‘Jaden!’ a deep voice echoed.
Jaden looked round to be greeted with a white tooth grin. ‘Sandman I- I thought you were in prison.’
‘I was, amazing what giving a few dumb cops the slip does aye!’
Jaden turned ran in the opposite direction. Ice grabbed him tight. Sandman walked casually over to them. ‘Time for you to pay back your debt.’
‘What are you on? What are you going to do to me?’ he asked. Trembling.
Sandman stood face to face with his predecessor. ‘You’re not so tough now are you, now none of your friends are here to back you up.’ He said clinching his fist. His double studied bracelet raped tightly round it.
‘You deserved it, both of you. That poor girl she didn’t deserve any of it.’
‘True. But something in here clicked.’ Sandman replied tapping his head.
‘You’re sick you deserved to be put behind bars.’ Jaden said, still trembling, wondering if Sandman really was capable of harming him. ‘What aint you got the bottle to do it yourself got to have your brother by your side to hold your hand?!’
Sandman raised his fist and swung it at Jaden. ‘Such strong words, you just don’t realise just who you’re dealing with do you!’ he said as his fist thrashed across Jaden’s face. ‘I don’t need anyone else unlike you I work alone, but this involves the both of us and is from the two of us.’ He said pounding his fist into Jaden’s face.
Blood flew in many directions from Jaden’s face and mouth as Sandman ripped into him.
Ice grabbed Jaden’s thick brown hair pulling his head back, placing a carving knife on to his throat. ‘You messed with the wrong brothers, you should never have told them where I was.’
‘He’s right you couldn’t leave well alone he didn’t deserve it I did he never knew how much you despised us even when it came to women you couldn’t help but to be jealous could you especially when I went with Kaleen.’
‘She deserved better than you, how could you do that to her?’
‘Quiet easily. I knew that she’d love me no matter what, but in the end you got to do what you got to do aint you bro?!’
‘Sure have.’ Ice replied digging the blade into Jaden’s neck.
‘Look I wasn’t alone.’ He said quickly.
‘So who else was in this sordid affair?’ Sandman asked, as Ice blended the knife’s edge further into Jaden’s neck.
‘Seth.’ He replied swallowing, hoping that they’d let him un-harmed.
WRONG!
‘That little shit!’ Sandman laughed.
‘Thanks very much for your help.’
‘W-what are you going to do to me?’
‘Bye Jaden.’ Sandman said turning walking away.
Ice took the blade out of Jaden’s neck for one moment making him think he was free, and then slashed it across his neck.
He loosed JADEN’S head. The limp body fell to the ground a blooded pool surrounded the body Ice dropped the head next to the body, eyes looked as if they were screaming out for help blood dripping away from the face and the perfect cut of the neck.
Ice walked away from the body and seathered head he wiped the blood off the knife placing it back in his inside pocket as they walked away.
Four thirty Kaleen closed the door behind her and Candice, locking it.
‘I’ll see you later.’
‘Later.’
Candice tiptoed up the stairs so not to wake the sleeping brothers figuring that he’d be asleep and she wouldn’t have to pretend that she was enjoying it which also meant that she didn’t have to fake it.
Kaleen pushed open the lounge door it was dark she couldn’t see past her face, she flicked the light switch it flickered and came on, she felt a cold shiver pass though her the hairs on the back of her neck stood on edge, she turned, shocked. ‘Sandman! I thought you were in bed.’
He sat in silence one leg draped over the other almost crossed wearing his baggy skater gear. And his oversized Doc Martins. He finally spoke. ‘No I was waiting up for you.’
‘Why?’
He tapped on the empty space next to him. ‘I want to talk to you.’ He said un-crossing his leg placing his foot firmly on the floor deliberately to make her sit beside him.
She slowly walked over wondering what it was that was so important that he’d stopped up to talk to her about. What was so important that he couldn’t wait till later to ask her?
She sat down next to him, he swooped his arm round her which made her feel a little agitated and a little uncomfortable it went silent.
‘Well what is it?’ Kaleen snapped. She hadn’t meant for it to be so loud.
‘Do you know Seth?’
‘Little Seth.’
He nodded.
‘Yeah, he works at the Rock House behind the same bar as me, why?’
‘Do you talk to him?’
‘Yeah, he doesn’t speak very highly of you though.’
‘What do you mean?’
‘Shit I’ve put my foot in it again! No use in denying anything he’ll see straight through me.’
‘He just said you deserved to go to prison that’s all.’
‘Are you sure that’s all he said?’
‘Sure.’ She said trying to swallow.
‘If I find out you’re lying I’ll kill you.’ He said, laughing.
‘Look he just said he grassed on you that’s all.’ She replied ‘better than being dead. I know Seth’s a friend, but he really has no idea how crazy Sandman and his brother really are.’
‘Did he ever come on to you?’
Kaleen swallowed sitting in silence.
‘Well did he?!’ Sandman snapped his one eyebrow raised.
‘Once or twice. I told him where to go.’ She replied trying not to put herself into a bigger hole than she’d already made for herself, but not succeeding.
‘I knew it that’s why they wanted me out of the way.’
‘Wha! I don’t understand?’
‘So they could have you all to themselves.’
‘If that’s the case why your brother?’
‘They hated both of us they knew no-one would look at them twice with us around.’
‘You’re so up in yourself.’
‘It’s true we always got on with the customers, especially the girls, especially you. They were jealous.’
‘I wouldn’t go with them if they were the last men on earth!’
Sandman laughed. ‘Don’t worry he’ll get what’s coming to him.’ He said kissing her on her forehead, pulling her closer.
‘What do you mean?’
‘Nothing. Don’t worry your pretty little head over it. I’ll deal with it.’
He leaned over placing his lips on hers kissing her, she returned the kiss thinking. ‘What did he mean he’ll deal with it?’
He pulled away taking his arm from around her, taking her hand pulling her up leading her out of the room and up the stairs.
