Chapter 56 - Desmond

At first, when Desmond forced his strength into the spirit stone, it didn't show a reaction and didn't show any colour. One would be judged from green to bright orange, from lowest to highest, respectively.

Kyle was disappointed as he was already at least at the point of breaking through to the Foundation Establishment realm at the age of 5 and has slipped some pure qi into his push just now.

The stone showed no reaction, and he looked at his father, who lost all colour of his face. He was the sect chief and his child of a bare minimum must display the same amount of strength as him before.

Desmond's father, Desmond the first, showed the blue aptitude, which was the highest for each generation before. It was enough to become the chief if you displayed that amount of talent.

But he displayed absolutely no talent. This meant that he was a useless child that would never be respected or even treated fairly in the sect.

Desmond was about to give the stone to the elder back and return to the father's side, but then suddenly the stone in his hands started vibrating and changing colour. It started at the green and then very quickly reached blue. As it was about to stop it started flushing again and just as fast reached red and then deep colourful orange. This was the highest grade possible.

At first, no-one believed that this was true and even suspected that the stone was broken, but after multiple tests, they looked at Desmond completely different.

This was the point when Kyle became overly happy and has accepted the praises and cheers. This was the first time that Kyle has been recognised to this extent.

All the time in the past, when he lived on Earth, he played the games competitively in order to prove himself and his powers. He has always sought the sweet feeling of being praised and envied. All the hours spent perfecting small skills. All the months spent researching and learning the games, it all didn't matter in the end.

But right now, Kyle, that was always an underdog was being celebrated as if a miracle of a god descent has happened. He couldn't be happier.

At this point, he stopped being Kyle and started becoming Desmond, totally forgetting his path that he travelled before.

The years passed, and Desmond grew. His increase in power was extraordinary, and he has reached higher and higher levels of power. He searched the content, faced challenges and eventually through struggle overcame them.

He lived the life that only a few could rival. His life was full of struggles, but he became the strongest person in the world.

He met the love of his life. He had a family and later created a whole, new sect. Eventually, he reached the breakpoint to reach immortality.

Desmond though all these years has managed to get to a 5th layer of the Dominion Technique and just now finished the last step before reaching layer to 6.

'I am turning 1 000 000 years today.' He thought to himself solemnly.

In order to carry on cultivating, he had to achieve immortality and join the gods in the world that was foreign and new to him.

Desmond looked at the start while flying on top of his blue water dragon. He was on his way to the most suitable place to meet tribulation lighting. Desmond has said his goodbyes to the family and has left the strongest warriors to protect them. He was certain that the sect would survive and stay the best sect for thousands of years ahead with the help he gave them.

Desmond reached the forest that was not too noticeable from a distance. The only difference was that a lot of lighting surrounded it.

As he travelled quite high, he could see that a great part of the forest was in ruins as if something had destroyed it in a huge battle. The only spot that was left was the middle of the forest—the heart of the forest.

Desmond got down and wanted to start the ritual, but a familiar and strong aura reached his body as soon as he touched the ground. This feeling was of familiarity but also of a distant past.

The aura had a different soul imprint to his and even seemed to be coming from a different human being, but in truth, it seemed so familiar that Desmond couldn't concentrate.

He frowned his eyebrows and flew into the abyss that was below him.

There he saw a bunch of recked values and destroyed temples.

He finally arrived at the point where the aura was coming from, and there stayed a statue. A statue of an unknown master that was holding lighting in one hand and a weapon in another. This statue did seem familiar, but he couldn't put his finger on where he saw or interacted with it.

The tides of time that Desmond has experienced made some memories absolute and reinforced other memories. Even though he was level 19.99 and was about to reach level 20 and was the strongest person in the world with an incredible memory, but he couldn't remember this statue.

He decided that if he visually doesn't recognise it, he will recognise it by sensing its aura.

Desmond closed his eyes and concentrated. A silky white hue came out from his body and enveloped everything around him. The hue covered the statue and searched every small point that was on it.

A clear hole was at the base of the statue as if something very sharp, quickly pierced through it.

As Desmond touched it with his spiritual force, he gasped in shock. He could feel his own power. He could feel the Wave of Conviction that he learned in the Dominion Technique.

This was incredible on its own as he has not a single time meant anyone in his life that could use or even know about the Dominion Technique. Even if someone learnt about it before, he made sure to eliminate them straight away to not put the secret of this treasure out in the open. He tried studying it further, but he couldn't get any insights.
