Chapter III

"What the fuck are you talking about?" Cal asked me.

"Come one. I have to show you something."

I take Cal out on a tinny. We ride out to sea, and I take her to the island where we were born. Then I cut the engine and tell her the story of the night Bill found her. And how the tide took me away, but I survived, the same way she survived when those men tried to drown her.

"The same way you'll survive now," I tell her before grabbing her and jumping into the water.

As we hit the water with a great splash, air bubbles enveloped our bodies as we sank deeper into the big blue. Calliope fought me, and I held her tight. The moment the last of her air was released, I took my first breath underwater. She watches as I sucked in water and released it as if I was breathing on land.

I gestured for her to mimic me as we continued to sink. I knew the first few breathes were hell. I could see the pain on her face. Then it vanished, replaced with shock. I couldn't help but smile and marvel at her beauty beneath the waves.

Her hair floated in the water and occasionally draped her face. I snaked my arms around her small waist and held her close. My lips then fell on hers as I surrender myself to the urge to taste her once more after so long.

And like ten years ago, something awakens in Calliope, though this time it was more intense as she wrapped her arms around me and accelerated our descent to the seafloor. Our kiss became ravenous, and Cal tore at my shirt and I hers. The moment our toes sank into the sand of the sea bed, we were naked and joined at the hips.

I wanted to see her face. So, I gathered her hair and held it in the palm of my hand, revealing her eyes and changing expression as she locks her ankles behind me and moves her hips, riding my rod.

I moan as her warm folds grip me, reveling in the feeling of her overflowing juices that soaked our nether regions in a way the sea never could. I wanted more. I want to go deeper, harder, faster. I planted my feet and pulled her hips down, burying myself in her completely. Cal's mouth sprang open, and it was the first time I heard the pleasure induced moan of a siren. Her enchanting song rang across the sea bed.

Laying her body down on the seafloor, I had my way. Thrusting in and out of the woman I loved, as she bucked her hips to match my speed. Our songs meddled together in harmony, creating an ode to our love and pleasure that even the Sirens could not match.

Cal turned the tables, and she rode herself to an ear-splitting orgasm. My howl then joined her shriek as I spurted rope after rope of my spunk into spasming cunt, causing Calliope's sweet nectar to gush forth in a new wave of smaller orgasms.

When Calliope finally came down, her lips moved, and she sang a song that told me everything she wanted. After I replied with a song of my own, we began another round.

And though, I was having the time of my life. I could feel the gaze of something watching us—the gaze of Sirens and the gaze of something else entirely. I put the feeling aside and followed the urge that Calliope and I both felt. The urge of lust and the urge for deeper waters.

After our final climax, Calliope and I seemed to have awakened and found ourselves surrounded by dark waters with only a tunnel of light from the surface, most likely created by the moon.

But even though it was dark, I could see. Then I saw Cal looking around as well and knew she could see too.

My lips move, and a song filled the waters, but to Cal, she heard, "Do you want to go to the surface?"

Cal slowly nods in affirmation. We join hands and kick-off together. Like missiles, we traveled the surface. Only then did we realize how deep we had gone. When we finally surfaced, the small aluminum boat was gone, and our clothes were swallowed by the sea long ago.

We bobbed in the water as we looked at the small island. I then figured it was best to speak now while we were in a good environment and a better mood. I then led Cal to the small island, and we laid together on the shore. I laugh to myself at the thought of all the ancient drawings of mermaids resting on rocks and basking in the sun or moonlight.

Cal was running her fingers across my chest when I felt the familiar gaze of Sirens. I turn my head to the left, and for the first time in twenty-four years, I saw my mother. She was beautiful as ever and exactly the same. A step behind her was another familiar face.

"Cal..look," I tell her.

Cal raises her head and follows my eyes as she gasps at the sight.

"That's.."

"Our mothers. Mine is on the right, and the one on the left, just a step behind her. That is your mother." I tell her in a whisper.

In a few seconds, when the time felt nonexistent. We starred at our mothers, and then they were gone. Their divine like hair shimmered even in the night. Their silver skin was all the more alluring under the moon. And when they vanished into the water, the sirens had returned, and Orphelin Bay was once again filled with their songs.

"They sound beautiful. But why couldn't we hear them earlier?" Calliope asked.

"I think it's because of my mother. Sometimes that ocean would just become quiet without warning. Then I'll hear her song or feel her gaze. Every song more beautiful than the last."

"So, they stopped singing for us?"

"As deep as we were, we should have been surrounded by them. They were respecting our union."

"Haha, respect? I could feel them watching us, Aiden. Our mothers watched us have sex." Cal laughed at the uncomfortable thought. "What are they anyway. What are we?"

"They are Sirens, and we are half breeds. The men who disappear out at sea hear our mothers' voices or songs and threw themselves into the water. Then the men die in their arms. You tried to do the same thing to me, And I wanted to do it to you. Based on the stories, I think it's part of the sex for them and us. Deeper waters make everything feel better. Sirens are also meant to be alone. Killing their companions during sex and giving up their babies is probably part of that curse." I explained.

"So we really were put on this Island when we were born." Cal's eyes drifted off. "That means Pat's not my father, and Augie isn't brother." Her voice trailed off.

"He is your father. He took care of you and loved you as any father would. And Augie is your brother. Tidelander or not, they will always be your family."

"Tidelander?" Cal pushed herself up. "Are you saying all of the Tidelanders are like us? Thea too? does everyone know about this?"

"Pretty much. It's why Tidelanders rule the bay, and they keep to themselves."

"How long have they been around?" Cal asked.

"Tidelanders? We can live for hundreds of years. What we look like now is what we will look like forever, I guess. Most Tidelanders throughout history are usually killed before discovering the full extent of our 'immortality.' As far as the sirens, based on which story you ready, they've ruled the waters since the beginning, daughters of Gods or Titians,"

"Holy shit, this is a lot." Cal stands up and begins to pace. "Okay, so we breathe underwater, we're practically immortal, we can 'sing' like our mothers, what else can we do?"

"Well, the chains the men put on your feet. You said it was a screw pin anchor that locked the chains. I assume they used a wrench to tighten the pin, and you unscrewed it with your bare hand." I explained, leading her to guess our next ability.

"We're stronger," she said.

"And faster," I add. "And we can also manipulate water. You remember the bruises you left on me after our first time? You were shocked to see so much blood in the bed, and I convinced you that it was natural. Well, humans are more water than anything. When you got excited, you manipulated the water in my blood."

Calliope looked frightened by the revelation.

"Don't worry. You'll learn to control it," I tell her.

Taking her hand, we walk back into the water, and I show her how to move the water. How to connect with water. I also started the basics of swimming like a human and then how to swim like a siren -which is the hardest to do if you don't have a solid grasp of hydrokinesis.

After some time, I swam with Calliope to the dock behind her house. We had no clothes, so swimming was the best option. As we stood on the dock, I fought the temptation that was her body. It only served to make Cal tease me a bit more, furthering her enjoyment.

"Hey, about the sirens. You can't tell anyone that you saw them. There's not a Tidelander in the bay who has seen their mother. We're the first. Everything that happened tonight needs to stay between us. "

"I promise. And I know I handled things pretty bad between us."

I tried to stop her from taking such a good night and ruining it with a depressing conversation. But she just cupped my face with her small elegant hands and said, "I'm sorry, Aiden. I really am. Tonight was everything I looked forward to when I got out of jail. Not the whole Siren in the middle of the ocean thing, but the magic we shared. And when Rosa told me about Thea and Zara, I felt so hurt... I thought ..." she sighed.

"I watched everything you sent me, and I thought if I stopped calling or replying to letters, you would move on from Orphelin Bay. You would become this cool director who dives into the ocean every day to film the most beautiful things that the ocean has to offer. I didn't want to be the reason you missed out on life, so I took myself out of the equation."

That girl is an idiot. "You are the most beautiful thing that the ocean has to offer, Calliope McTeer."

She giggles. "And I'm the most conceited thing that it has to offer because you are still in Orphelin Bay for your mother. And I caused us unnecessary pain." her giggle morphed to sniffles.

"Ah, Cal. No, I am here because of you. My mother is just a bonus."

"You are such a liar. I'm trying to apologize and tell you I made a mistake. That I wasn't eluding you, I was..."

I had to kiss her to shut her up. But sealing her lips wasn't enough. I had to force her tongue to yield, and then we gasped for air, which was a lot better than her speaking.

"I forgive you, Calliope. And I never stopped loving you. So stop your rambling. Please. "

And instead of rambling, she showered me with kisses. " I love you too, Aiden."

"I was hoping you would. Now, get some rest. A lot happened today. And don't forget I put the gun on your shelf, keep it close. We aren't indestructible."

"I know. I'll see you tomorrow." Calliope sang.

I watch her walk up to the house and take in the sight of her naked beauty. I don't know if she was showing off, but her ass had a little extra swing to it, and when she looked back to see if I was still watching, my heart skipped ten beats.

Yeah, it was a good night. But it didn't last long. Once I got home, I found Thea with my best-kept secret.

After I dressed, I sat next to Thea and looked across at two young Tidelander kids, Bijou and Gilles. But once I was seated, I fought hard to stifle my rage.

"Gilles, what happened to your eye?" I ask.

"The Queen took it. I was caught spying on her for Violca. I didn't want to, but Violca took Bijou." He explained.

Bam! I smacked the table, causing it to crack. The water then reflects my rage as the NAIAD rocked with tumultuous waves. I cursed Adrielle, but I cursed Violca more, and I wanted to taste her blood.

"Where is she!?" I roared.

"She's with..."

"Gilles, no. That's not why we are here." Bijou interrupted.

"Did she hurt you, Jou?" I asked.

"I'm okay. I promise," she replied.

I then pull Bijou into a hug. "Then, why are you here? Adrielle doesn't like the kids to wander so far from L'Attente."

"But I'm your..."

"Hey, we talked about this. You aren't old enough yet. Now, tell me why you're here, Jou." I repeat myself.

"I saw you with her tonight in the water. She's like you." Said Bijou.

Bijou then pulls out a drawing of a Siren in the water and Calliope on the shore.

"Gilles, how many of these did she draw?" I ask.

"Twelve, Sir."

"I want you to burn them all. If Adrielle finds these, it will put Calliope and Bijou in danger. Do you hear me?"

"Yes, Sir," Gilles replied.

"Bijou, listen to me. You need to stop drawing everything that you see. It is dangerous. How many times have I told you this?" I chided the little girl, and she slumped her head. " Did you draw what you saw tonight?"

Bijou nodded her head. I sighed in defeat. I just held the poor girl. "Did you see their faces?" I whisper.

Bijou humms in affirmation.

"The one on the right is your mother. I won't make you burn it, but you must hide the drawing well, Jou. And do not draw anymore, please." I tell her.

Bijou smiles from ear to ear when she heard the siren she drew was our mother. She silently nods in agreement, and I feel a little better. But I was still apprehensive for my stubborn little sister. I knew a vision would come to her that she would be forced to draw. I just wish she would listen.

However, Bijou was just too wise and mature for her age. And she didn't fear death. I blame her mother for giving her the gift of sight.
