Chapter 257: A Deal

Kaylin's lack of faith is uninspiring, in fact it's crippling. The last thing I need right now is another ally turning their back on me. I sneer and pull her chin up, "What are you going to do then? Because if it's as hopeless as you say then you might as well jump off the walls. If Phien wants my allies dead then he's going to have them dead, it doesn't matter where you run!"

She snaps her chin away and smacks my hand, "And whose fault is that? Huh? I signed up for a fight with Ire, the Kingdom. Not some freaking deity that's swallowing cities!"

"How in hell do you think we're going to have anything left to rule? Left to call a Kingdom if we don't deal with the city eating deity? Huh? You just want to redeem the elves from their bondage and then turn around and tell them in the same breath that there's a deity coming for their souls and you're not going to do anything about it?!"

She sobs and shakes her head bitterly, "No! No! I can't-"
