Finally A Good Idea

The second the bell rang I got my stuff and rushed to my next class. I knew that when Ms. V's class started I couldn't get caught on my phone. She would take it and probably yell at me and I'm not about that. My next class was culinary arts and I know we're not cooking so I'll have more time to text my friends and tell them about this. I'm gonna send it to our group chat and hope that at least one of them sees it. I know that Miles will because we have this class together. We don't sit near each other so I'm waiting by the door for him. He came into my field of vision. I waved back and told him to be ready to check his phone before walking back to my seat.

Me: I got these messages from an unknown person. They know everything and I don't know how. I feel like they could be the person that gave me the book. If so then they knew we were gonna use it to get powers like???

Myles: UMMMM EXCUSE ME SIR MA'AM?

Myles: Are we in danger because idk if I agreed to danger

Ellie: Danger

Ellie: I mean he warned us about something but idk he was pretty vague

Ellie: let's just listen to him for now and double cross him later or smth

Me: Aren't you in a strict teachers class how tf are you texting

Ellie: It's called not giving a fuck

Myles: Leave it to Ellie to be on her phone out in the open

Ellie: How do you know I'm not hiding it?

Myles: Because I know you

Me: Getting off track people

Me: Stranger knowing what happened to us ringing any bells?

Ellie: Stressing ourselves out isn't gonna help

Myles: She's got a point

Me: So we should just keep training to protect ourselves right?

Ellie: Most def

Me: Good lets wait for everyone else to see this and talk at lunch

Miles: Alright

Ellie: Bet

Okay, okay, everything is fine. This person gave us a non-threatening warning. They sound like they want us to be safe and protected. Not to mention that they said they're gonna help me with my magic. To know that I need help they would have to know that I'm having trouble using it. Maybe they know it and know that I have no training to use it. Why does everything have to be so complicated? I put my phone away and started paying attention to the lesson. I do still have to be a student after all.

Lunchtime finally rolled around and I was immediately at our table. Ellie was able to calm my nerves but it's still been on my mind. How do they know all of this? God, you pick up one book off the sidewalk and all of a sudden your life is a mess. I should've just left that book there when I had the chance. But honestly? Having powers is cool so I guess it's worth the stress.

Everyone is already sitting around the table so I guess they rushed here too. Even Ray was sitting with them all. Glad that people are listening to me.

"So I'm guessing you all have read the messages right?" They all nodded in agreement and I took a seat with them.

"So we're all in agreement about training right?" Amy said as she bit into a fry.

"Yeah, but where would we do it? We have to go somewhere secured without fear of getting caught." Ray said. We all brainstormed ideas and threw them out. The problem is there isn't much privacy in a city like this. There are so many buildings and people are everywhere.

"What about that abandoned hospital on 7th ave. That would work out perfectly." Ellie offered. It actually does seem like a good idea.

"Oh yeah. It's huge and no one goes is there We could be higher up inside and no one would ever know we were there." We all were in agreement about this. I don't know if we could've come up with a better place than that. Maybe later we'll be able to find something permanent, but this temp solution works well. The plan was to sneak out of our houses in the middle of the night (Or walkout in Ellie's case) and meet up near the hospital. Then we would try and break-in, probably using our powers. I'm afraid about how that's gonna go because we are nowhere near responsible or skilled enough for this. But also that's the whole reason we're doing this in the first place. I can sense there's going to be a struggle. Ellie has a car so I could hitch a ride with her there. I only have my permit and no car so I'm out of luck. She doesn't drive it to school because she lives close and that's a waste of gas. Or maybe I can try to fly there. Actually, that's a terrible idea. I should not be doing that.

The bell rang and we all separated to go to our classes. I'm gonna be alone in my next class so I need to drop all of this for now. We say our goodbyes and part ways.

??? POV

I marched through the door of my closet and entered our sanctum. A long hall with multiple doors stretched before me with a pair of massive archway doors at the end. My right hand rotated in a circular motion and a dark red circle was drawn in the air. When it was complete it filled itself in and I flicked it behind me where it flew under my feet. I was lifted into the air and speed down the hallway now that I was floating. With the flick of my wrist, the doors opened before me. My other two colleagues sat at a round stone table before me. There are ingredients scattered across the table and bowls set in front of both of them. Uneus's purple magic flowed out of his bowl and into the center of the table where it meshed with Axea's rich magenta magic. They swirled around in a ring while the two chanted.

"Have we located the book yet?" I took a seat at my side of the table and the two dropped their connection to the spell.

"Not yet, the book is naturally cloaking itself and its magical signature," Uneus said as he added some liverworts to his bowl. It sparked to life with more purple magic before simmering back down.

"Although," Axea started, "The book was used recently and that allowed us to trace it to somewhere in South Florida. We can't any closer than that with the book actively hiding its presence." She sipped from a glass of wine that she had placed next to her.

"Fine then. Let's wait and see if anything strange shows itself. Until then we should prepare ourselves and our students. If the book was used, it could have been for anything." The two stood and moved away from the table. Axea flicked her wrist and the chairs moved back under the table.

"Don't stay too long Xelius. You know how you get when you're sleep-deprived." Uneus and Axea exited the room and shut the doors behind them. I take a breathe and slam my fist down on the table in frustration. All of the items jump up slightly and the glass of wine almost falls over.

"Curse that traitor for taking the book from us. He will pay dearly for his insolence. Once that book is back in our control, I will make sure that he is given a fate worse than hell."
