The Family Reunion

Oliver received his mother's call on his way back to his apartment, so he turned the car and head straight toward the mansion to see his parents.

After taking over KNIGHT International, Oliver moved out of the family mansion. He lived alone in an apartment of more than 800 square meters. Oliver liked a quiet environment, while Ella was like a little girl. Every day, she kept nagging Oliver with different topics, Oliver got irritated and moved out to live alone.

The servants stood in two rows and waited by the fountain for Oliver's arrival.

Oliver stopped the car, jumped out, and went straight to Knight's living room. In the splendid living room, a huge crystal lamp was dazzling in the middle of the room. The decoration of the room was in European style including the furniture. The walls were covered with famous European paintings from the 18th century. Each one was a masterpiece.

On the precious white leather sofa, an elegant lady with a flushed complexion and a plump figure was smiling. Beside her, there was a tall and dignified middle-aged man who was holding a small bowl of walnuts and his rough hands were peeling them.

Oliver raised one of his eyebrows and saw that the plate on the tea table was full of small walnuts. It seems like his father has been peeling the small walnuts for his mother for a few hours now!

"Dad, mom." Oliver put on a cheerful smile and walked towards the two elders with a warm face.

"Oliver, sweetie, you're finally back." Ella jumped up from the sofa, her eyes were glowing with affection.

"Hey mom, you asked Dad to peel walnuts for you again?" Oliver's face had a monster's smile. Oliver knew his mother was a wise woman, she just pretended to be childish and crazy, in fact, she was smarter than anyone in the family. Otherwise, how could she win Conner Knight!

"Yes, he did something wrong. I'm punishing him." Ella said with a brilliant smile and a sly glance. Conner Knight wanted to cry at that moment.

No one could have imagined that Conner Knight, who was known as a fierce and vigorous man in the business world, was actually a wife slave!

Oliver was used to his mother tormenting his father like that since he was young, but he still felt bad for his father that's why he was determined to become a man who could not be bullied by women in the future. Oliver deeply sympathized with his father and gave him a look of sympathy.

"Mom, why did you call me so urgently?" Oliver went straight to the point because the picture of Conner Knight's peeling walnuts to Ella Knight was really unbearable.

"Why didn't you tell me about your uncle's hospitalization when I was traveling to the USA?" Ella put away her warm smile, and her face suddenly became cold. At that moment anyone could tell just by looking at them that Oliver got that cold look from his mother.

Ella Knight's ability to switch character between a little white rabbit and the big gray wolf at will couldn't be done by anyone but her. Conner once felt that he was blind at the beginning to marry such an unruly and willful woman, he had so many rich and beautiful pursuers for him. But he fell in love with Ella. It's Karma, he used to be a player, and now he had to pay for his own sins! However, he was willing to go through all the torment, because he loved his wife very much.

"Mom, I wanted to tell you but uncle didn't want you to worry, besides he said he was OK." Oliver smiled attentively. He knew that Michael would not say anything against him in front of Ella, so he could make up any lies as he wanted.

"But how could you conceal such a piece of important news from me? You knew that your uncle was not in good health. What if something had happened to him?" Ella asked very seriously.

"No mom, If it was that serious then I would have let you know about him, It wasn't that serious that's why he recovered very quickly," Oliver said what his mother wanted to hear.

Sure enough, Ella's face softened a little, she switched the subject and said: "Oliver, I have called Liam back. Your uncle is not well now, and his position at the company is vacant. I want you to let Liam replace your uncle and become the general manager of KNIGHT International."

"Well, whatever you say, mom," Oliver replied respectfully, but he was not happy with Liam taking over the GM responsibility.

Liam Jones, the only son of Michael Jones, has been working against Oliver since childhood. Now he was doing a master's in economics and finance in the States. Mary Jones, the wife of Michael Jones, also accompanied her son and stayed there all this time.

"When your cousin enters the company, you need to help him. He has no experience, you know." She advised thoughtfully.

"Of course, mom. We're a family after all." Oliver laughed.

When Ella heard her son say that, she was relieved. She stopped letting Conner peel walnuts and ate them happily.

Conner breathed a sigh of relief and then said to Oliver, "Come to my study. There is something wrong with one of the contract documents."

Oliver understood immediately what he meant, this was some kind of unspoken code between father and son. He quickly nodded and followed him.

Oliver lit a cigarette for the old man and the father and son sat on the sofa and smoked freely.

"Dad, I am sorry, because of me you were punished tonight." Oliver looked at his father's hand, which was slightly red.

"It's OK don't worry about it. I am more concerned about that snake actually, he will use it against your mother to take advantage." Conner said with a fierce face.

"Yeah, I know what you mean, I didn't expect him to recover so soon actually." Oliver took a puff.

However, Ava the great hero, saved Michael Jones this time. This woman was really a disaster.

"Oliver, in fact, your mother is not completely clueless about what he had done in the company. It's just that your grandparents left early, your mother was raised by Michael since she was a child. So you can understand she's been considerate." Conner said seriously.

He meant Ella looked like an ignorant woman on the surface, but in fact, she knew everything. This was also the smartness of Ella, she knew it but won't say it. To her, family values were more important than anything else and Michael was her only brother. Naturally, his place was unshakable.

Oliver nodded, took a big puff, and asked, "What's our plan then, to stop? "

"Yes, at least for now, I'm afraid your mother will be heartbroken." Conner was afraid of his wife's tears even though she was sometimes cruel to him.

"Dad, I don't want to be a man like you. I want to be stronger in front of my women." Oliver shook his head and sighed, being a wife slave was too pitiful.

Conner Knight smiled helplessly. All the emotions he wanted to express were hidden in his smile.

"Listen to you, do you have someone in your heart?"

It seems like Oliver opened up his heart in front of his old man unconsciously. An embarrassed smile appears on Oliver's face as he said, "Not yet".

"OK, if you have someone in your heart let Dad know, Dad will definitely support you," Conner said with a bright smile.

Conner Knight knew about Oliver's past, that unsuccessful love was the most painful entity in Oliver's heart, so he and Ella have always supported Oliver's freedom to find love. They didn't need to rely on commercial marriage to grow their industry, but after losing his first love, Oliver never dated anyone, which really worried them.

They don't have high expectations for their future daughter-in-law, as long as that person has a good character and really loves Oliver, that's enough for them.
