"What! To whom?" Ava asked dumbfounded.
"Dean Davis." Came Oliver's simple answer.
Hearing him Ava froze in place, she didn't know what to say. Her life was already in a mess because of him now he called Dean Davis and asked for leave on behalf of her. The Dean was not stupid of course he would suspect there was something going on between her and Oliver. She really didn't want anyone to know about them.
"What did you say to him?" Ava asked nervously.
"You don't need to know that," Oliver said with a sly smile.
Ava got depressed she really hoped Oliver didn't say anything suspicious to the Dean that will arose questions about their relationship. If he did and everybody knew then she didn't know how to face those people and more importantly the gossips. She felt a headache.
"What? Why are you so upset?" Oliver joked.
"How could I be happy, what if everyone knows about us?" Ava lay down on the bed and looked at the white ceiling.
"Is it so bad to be associated with me?" Oliver's voice was full of sarcasm, and his lazy eyes gradually became fierce.
"No, it's not that, I just don't want people to think that you are backing me up." Ava shook her head and said simply.
Ava got into the hospital on her own merits, there was no backing and that was one of the reasons she hid her background at the hospital. She didn't want anyone to think that she got in because she was the heir of Green's Group. Now if anyone found out that she had any kind of relation with Oliver Knight, they will definitely point a finger at her and mock her. Her merit or hard work wouldn't even matter.
"You know you don't need to work that hard, I can support you. Quit your job." Oliver said caressing Ava's cheek.
"If I quit then what would I do? I have always been an active person I wouldn't be able to stay idle, besides I don't like to depend on others." Ava explained in simple words. She didn't want to bring up their agreement and remind him that she would be with him for a month not for life.
"Others?" Oliver narrowed his eyes.
Seeing that Oliver's face changed, Ava hurriedly explained in a low voice, "Oliver I have always been an independent person, even when I was little I used to live on the money I won in different competitions. So it's really difficult for me to give up a habit that I formed since childhood and depend on someone, whether it's you or my father."
Oliver understood what Ava was trying to explain but he still felt it was an insult to him that Oliver Knight's women wouldn't let him support her. Then again he also felt proud because Ava was not like other women and definitely not a gold digger. His woman was really capable and would be able to face any difficulties on her own, she was really strong and brave, certainly worthy of being Mrs. Oliver Knight. Oliver didn't even realize that his heart has already accepted Ava.
"Ok! I understand. Then why don't you do something less stressful? What about Other hobbies? You don't have any other hobbies?" Oliver asked.
Ava shook her head in embarrassment to show that she didn't.
Suddenly Oliver remembered that Ava could play Piano and his face changed. There seemed to be a storm in his deep dark eyes, his face became hard.
"The day I met you at the bar, I think you were playing Piano and you played really well," Oliver said casually but his eye was sharp observing her every reaction.
At the mention of piano Ava felt her heart had been pierced, she closed her eyes to hide the emotion and said in a very low voice, "I don't like to play anymore."
Recalling the time Ava clearly remembered, every night was like a nightmare making her breathless. So much blood everywhere, she could still smell the blood. Ava would never forget how painful those days were, and how she got over them.
"Don't like to play? But didn't you win the Golden Award of midsummer night's dream?" Oliver said lightly but his eyes were cold.
The midsummer night dream was a piano competition held at the hottest time in the summer every 6 years. Ava was the last gold medal champion of that competition. Many people came from different parts of the world to participate in that competition but Ava won and became the focus of the music circle. However, in less than a year, Ava left the music world, refused any interviews, and then completely disappeared from the circle.
At the mention of the competition Ava's mind suddenly flew back to the stage of the Golden Hall in Vienna. At that time, she played a piece of Canon, which was not a difficult piece to play but she changed the tune of the whole piece and played canon in her own style, a complete love story was portrayed in front of the audience. A lot of people cried after listening to it and the judges gave her a standing ovation.
She began to learn the piano when she was three years old. She had mastered the skill of playing piano perfectly, but when it comes to music the most important thing was not to master the technics but to understand the emotion behind any tune. Ava understood music and that's why she could play it so perfectly.
Now in a blink of an eye five and half years have passed and the next Midsummer Night Dream Piano Competition would be held soon. Ava laughed at herself because this competition has nothing to do with her anymore.
Time could really dilute everything. Ava vaguely remembered when she came back to China after winning, the airport was full of reporters and her fans. She became a star overnight. Now, no one remembered her as the gold medal winner of the midsummer night's dream, except her parents.
Ava's eyes turned red and two drops of tears flow down her cheek. She closed her eyes to get a hold of her emotion. She didn't know why Oliver was asking the questions she didn't want to answer and why he was reminding the past she didn't want to remember. How much did he know about her past?
When Ava opened her eyes again they become clear. "It's all in the past now." She replied with a clear and resolute voice.
