Too much hatred

The next day.

Oliver went to work but before leaving he warned Ava not to run around in the hot weather. So Ava decided to listen to him and stay at home. However she was not used to being so idle, her life at the hospital was very busy and she was used to that pace. She didn't know what to do at home, she watched TV for a while then played games on her phone but got bored. She decided to take a nap but she couldn't fall asleep so Ava picked up her mobile again to check her microblog.

Ava was so busy in her daily life that she was no longer interested in microblogging, however, she still had a lot of friends from college in her circle of friends. Ava read through some of the discussion about ordinary trivial matters and thought how simple their life was.

Suddenly a thought came into Ava's mind. Does Oliver have a Weibo account? He must! Would he have his ex-girlfriend's picture there? Ava was very curious so she picked up Oliver's tab from the table and as she checked, she found the microblogging app was installed. She clicked on the app and it was already logged in to an existing account.

Ava felt very excited as if she had discovered some secret about Oliver. She quickly went inside his profile. The name of the account was Kevin. Ava got confused about why he used another name for his account. Was this his account or someone else's? Or maybe he was trying to keep his profile private? Inside the profile, the page was very simple and there was only one follower. No recent photo or post was there which showed he wasn't very active on the microblog. Ava kept going through his profile and froze seeing a post.

February 14, 2020

'I still love You.'

I still love you? Even though it was a very short sentence it still pierced her heart like a sharp knife. February 14, Ava suddenly remembered it was on Valentine's Day, the day she met Oliver.

Ava scrolled through the page to see if there was any other post, only to find that since February 14, 2016, every year he only made one post, I still love you. For 4 years, he has been posting this on his wall for the past 4 years. That meant they knew each other for more than 4 years. Ava wondered if he loved her so much then what happened between them that they end up breaking up with each other. Ava felt very sad. She shouldn't have pry on his privacy like that. She knew she wouldn't like Oliver's past, then why was she so curious. Ava closed the app and put the tab back on the table. She curled up on the sofa and kept thinking about Oliver and the girl, her mood was broken.

Mrs. Lee came out of the kitchen and saw Ava was lying still on the sofa she went to check if she was ok. "Are you all right, Miss Green?"

Ava buried her head in the pillow, she didn't want Mrs. Lee to see that she was crying. She said quietly "I'm ok, Mrs. Lee. Could you please make some egg tarts for me? I want to eat Egg tart."

"Sure, Miss Green. I'll do it right away." Mrs. Lee said with a smile.

KNIGHT International.

"CEO Knight, Smith's group is spreading rumors about the land saying they have already got it." As soon as Uncle Joe heard the news he hurried to Oliver's office. He knew the land was important to Oliver.

"What's the point? The land is mine. No one can take what's mine." Oliver's cold eyes were like a sharp knife. He narrowed his eye slightly which looked very dangerous at that moment.

"But it's said that John Smith had already made the deposit for the land." Uncle Joe said with urgency.

"Don't worry, Mayor Wills wouldn't dare to go against me" Oliver said confidently. The Knight family was too powerful in this city. No one would dare to challenge the authority of the Knight.

"Mayor wills probably still hoping to make some profit from the land. I'd like to see if he had the ability to do that." Oliver said in a dangerous tone as his eyes got even more sinister.

Uncle Joe knew that Smith's group wouldn't be able to stand in front of KNIGHT International, but still, they were one of the biggest competitors of theirs. In order to compete with Knight International, Smith's Group had even adopted some of the despicable methods.

"Alright. Is CEO Knight going to attend the business party tonight?" Uncle Joe asked indifferently.

"Yes," Oliver replied decisively.

This business party was jointly held by ten major enterprises of the city. Conner Knight was the founder and the largest investor of this business wine party. Every year, many small companies were invited to this party to increase their contact and expand their business.

"Then I'll make the arrangements." Uncle Joe said without expression.

"OK." Oliver closed his eyes.

Everyone needs to bring a companion for this party. Oliver was wondering if he should take Ava with him. His hand unconsciously picked up the phone to call Ava. It's not that Oliver had a lack of companion for himself but he just wanted to take Ava with him. She has been with him for nearly a month but still hasn't met any of his friends. Oliver thought it would be a good chance for her to meet them.

Ava picked up her phone quickly seeing Oliver had called.

"Hello?" Ava said as she put the egg tart in her mouth.

Oliver heard Ava and knew she was eating something. His eyes become soft and he asked with a doting smile, "What are you eating?"

"Egg tart. Mrs. Lee makes the best egg tarts in the world." Ava praised Mrs. Lee while eating.

Mrs. Lee was sitting beside her, she shook her head helplessly and smiled at her.

"Stop eating and come to my office right now," Oliver said gently, he was still smiling.

"OK," Ava said while putting another tart into her mouth. Although she was confused why Oliver wanted her to go to the company all of a sudden but she didn't ask anything.

"Don't eat too much. I don't like fat women." Oliver did not forget to tease her.

"Well, who asked you to like me." Ava retorted and said unhappily.

Oliver smiled at the other end of the phone, he was comfortably leaning on his chair and was trying to imagine Ava's face at that moment. He thought, no one made him like her but he did like her very much, but he had to be brave enough to say that he didn't like her and didn't care about her.

Sometimes, Oliver really wanted to forget the past. His meeting with Ava was a coincidence. Heaven created this opportunity for them to meet each other, then shouldn't he cherish it?

However, Oliver's heart has been holding too much hatred for years, how could years of wounds heal so easily?

Oliver opened the familiar empty drawer and picked up the photo frame that he had seen countless times in these 5 years. He touched the girl's face in the photo, and his eyes become sad. Fool, if only you were here.
