The next morning, Oliver drove Ava to work which became his regular routine. It was a very rush hour and there was a lot of car on the street. Seeing that Ava thought if she waited for the car to drop her inside the hospital then she would be late for work.
"Oliver, it's very rush today I'll get off here." Ava smiled sweetly, revealing a row of neat white teeth.
"Ok," Oliver said lightly and raised his chin slightly, indicating Ava to kiss him before leaving.
Ava took off her seatbelt and leaned forward to kiss Oliver on his cheek. However, he turned his head at the right moment Ava's kiss fell on his full lips. Ava wanted to pull back but Oliver held her neck and gave her a French kiss. He didn't let go until Ava was already late for work. He felt satisfied and drove away.
After the morning meeting, Ava headed toward the outpatient department. There were a lot of patients waiting for her. It seems since she had become the director more patients were coming to her. Today from the morning she was so busy that she didn't even have time to drink water.
Ava was looking at her computer when she heard the door of the outpatient room closed gently. She looked up and saw an elegant woman dressed in designer clothes and delicate makeup came in. A pair of sunglasses covered half of her face and her head was covered in a hat. Ava wondered if she was any celebrity to come to the hospital dressed like that.
The woman sat down on the chair in front of Ava looking like a white swan and was quietly waiting for Ava to speak first.
Ava took her medical record card and swiped it gently on the machine. The name Kiara Anderson popped up on the computer and Ava looked at her a little stunned. 'It's her.' She immediately understood Kiara was not here for any medical attention, she came here to see her. Her hazel eyes become deep as she was trying to see through the women in front of her.
Kiara didn't take off her sunglasses, she just gave Ava a meaningful smile. Under the sunglasses, the fierceness in her eyes could not be seen by Ava.
"Hello, Dr. Green." Seeing that Ava had recognized her she greeted her politely.
"Hello, Ms. Anderson. What can I do for you?" Ava asked in a professional manner without any expression.
"Well recently I feel a thorn is poking on my heart, it's making me a little uncomfortable. I don't know what to do about it." Kiara's voice was very soft but the hatred could not be hidden in her tone.
With a faint smile, Ava said, "Do you want me to take a look at your heart, Miss Anderson?"
"Doctor Green, let's discuss it over lunch."
"I am sorry Ms. Anderson but I don't know you and I don't like to eat with strangers." Ava refused straightway, her face was very calm.
"Yes, we didn't know each other in the past but now I am giving you a chance to know me." Kiara's soft voice was full of arrogance.
Ava felt a bit upset, who does she think she was, giving her a chance to know herself? Did she want to know such arrogant women? However, Ava remain calm and said coldly, "Thank you Ms. Anderson but I don't have time to have lunch with you."
"Why Ms. Green, are you afraid of me?" Kiara said with a mocking smile her tone was sharp and full of provocation.
Of course, Ava was not afraid of her, she just was not interested to mingle with her. Ava knew the first time she saw Kiara that she was definitely not a simple person and after she became official with Oliver Ava knew she will have to face her someday. She just didn't expect it to be so soon.
"Ms. Anderson, who do you think you are that I should be afraid of you?" Ava smiled faintly, her face was calm and indifferent. Ava felt Oliver's cruel shadow fell on her and she learned how to be strong and indifferent when facing an opponent.
Kiara heard Ava and her face changed, she narrowed her eyes sharply and her mouth twitched slightly. Thanks to Oliver, she was so arrogant now. I wonder what will happen to her arrogance when Oliver will be done with her and throw her away from his life. Kiara thought to herself.
"Doctor Green, I'm afraid if you don't agree to have lunch with me I won't leave." Kiara sneered.
Ava pulled out Kiara's magnetic card from the machine and said coldly, "OK."
"It's settled then. I'll wait for you at the Italian restaurant near your hospital at 12 noon." Kiara's tone was mixed with a trace of unhappiness as she took her medical card and left.
Ava rolled her eyes on her and thought if it wasn't her workplace and a lot of patients were waiting for her to see them then she would give Kiara peace of mind.
At noon, Ava changed her white coat and took her bag to go to the forced lunch appointment. She felt a headache.
Susan came and hand her a file, "Dr. Green, this is the medical record of the patient that admitted today. He is a relative of the mayor and wanted you to operate on him."
It was not Ava's patient, normally whichever doctor sees any patient they would do the operation on their patient, only a few patients have the right to choose a different doctor to operate on them. That was the hospital rule made to give all the doctors equal rights and distribution of patients.
"Thank you, Susan put the information on my desk. I'll check it later." Ava said lightly.
Susan frowned and said worriedly. "Dr. Green, you better check the file before taking the patient. I've seen his physical condition. It's really terrible. Even if he had a successful operation I don't think he will be able to live long."
Ava smiled and patted Susan on the back, "Thank you, Susan, let me see the situation first."
