Playing Violin

The next morning, Oliver's Villa

It was Saturday so both Oliver and Ava had a day off. Ava returned to the villa early in the morning to surprise Oliver.

The morning breeze was very fresh mixed with the fragrance of Verbena from the villa courtyard. Ava quietly entered the villa and before she could take a step toward the stairs she heard a violin tune which was coming from the Greenhouse at the back of the Villa. Ava was stunned, she quickly walked toward the Greenhouse and saw a familiar figure.

There was Oliver standing tall, his straight back toward the door, holding a delicate violin and playing a familiar tune. Every note he was playing felt like the sound of nature. He was playing the famous canon. Ava liked to play canon when she was in high school. This song was not too big, but it is a little difficult to get a hold of the tune. Oliver was playing it at a slightly fast pace. Almost every note was half a beat faster than the previous, which sounded very relaxing.

Ava stood there quietly listening to him playing so beautifully. From where she was standing Oliver looked very lonely and sad. She could tell he was pouring his heart into the music, maybe some complicated emotions he wanted to let out through it. The sun slowly rose on the sky and the warm light fell on him, making the atmosphere look mesmerizing. Oliver suddenly changed into another tune, this time Beethoven's Violin Concerto in D major.

Ava slowly and very quietly approached Oliver and stood behind him then she gently hugged him from behind, and the sound of the piano stopped abruptly. Ava put her head on Oliver's back. This was the first time she hugged him like this. This kind of hug normally makes people surprise and delighted at the same time.

Oliver was also stunned, hugged like this by someone so his body instantly stiffened, then he smelled a familiar fragrance around him and relaxed slowly. He didn't expect Ava to come back so early and definitely didn't expect to proactively hug him like this. Unconsciously, a boyish smile showed up at the corner of his mouth. He asked without turning back, "When did you come back?"

"Just now, I heard you were playing canon, so I came here to listen to it," Ava said softly with a smile.

"So early?" Oliver smiled, put down the violin on the round table, and held her hands tightly. He was enjoying the hug very much.

"Well, I wanted to surprise you but looks like I got a surprise myself by coming here so early," Ava said in a soft voice.

She still remembered the first time, she asked Oliver to play violin for her, he mercilessly refused and left her alone in the room for the whole night. Ava always thought Oliver refused because he actually couldn't play but today, she realized how wrong she was. This was the first time she heard him play and she was amazed, Oliver not only could play Violin well but also his skills were very high level. The way he played it was very clear that he had studied music and also has been practicing often.

"Why did you come back so early?" Oliver asked with a dotting smile. He turned around and took Ava into his arm. As it was Ava's day off Oliver intended to let her stay in the Green Villa for a while. She always says she misses her parents.

"I missed you," Ava said with a sweet smile. Her eyes were full of affection.

Hearing her the smile on Oliver's face got wider, he leaned toward her, and holding her face with his hands he kissed her slowly. This kiss was not his usual dominating and fierce kind, it was rather very soft and sweet, enjoying every bit of her in such a beautiful morning.

Even when the four lips finally apart, they still stayed in each other's arms enjoying the moment, the sun felt warmer and the breeze smelled more fragrant.

"Oliver, let's go for a morning run. I haven't had a morning run for a long time." They were walking on the grass hand in hand.

"OK."

Oliver and Ava got changed into sportswear. Ava tied up her hair into a bun and came out of the dressing room. She was surprised to see the clothes Oliver was wearing were matching hers, what a sweet coincidence. They had more than a dozen sets of sportswear and somehow they ended up picking the same set.

Oliver looked at Ava with a smile and asked, "Did you peep at me just now?"

"No, you peeped at me," Ava said laughing and wrapping her hand around Oliver's arm.

Once Ava thought she was a strong woman who wanted space in a relationship but after meeting Oliver, she found out that she had become a clingy woman.

Oliver was also the same. Before he met Ava, he had a very playful personality and he liked being surrounded by beautiful women every day. But now, Oliver thinks he only needed Ava, no other woman was appealing to him anymore.
