Arvin could see through Oliver's struggle. Oliver cared for Ava but he didn't want to give in to his feelings because he felt guilty toward his ex-girlfriend, that's why after seeing her picture he ran away from Ava. Only if he could understand there was nothing wrong to let go of the past and be happy with another woman.
"Regret it?" Arvin asked with a smile.
Oliver was silent for a while, he was regretting it now. It was really difficult for him to smooth things over between them after the way he treated her, then how did he let his past come between the two of them?
"Oliver, don't dwell on the past anymore. I've seen that girl, she's a good girl. Hurry up and go back to your girl." Arvin laughed and got up.
Oliver didn't waste any more time he put down his glass, got to his feet, and walked out of O'Neill's Mansion as fast as he could.
Arvin shook his head and smiled at Oliver's leaving back. He knew only Ava had the ability to get him out of his misery but the question was whether Oliver would let her or not.
520 Haibin road.
Oliver rushed into the bedroom and jumped into the bed to surprise Ava. However he found the huge bed was empty and cold, Ava was not there! Oliver panicked thinking in the middle of the night, where did she go? He quickly turned on the light and looked for her everywhere in the house but he couldn't find her anywhere. He anxiously took out his phone to call Ava and noticed her phone was on the bedside table. If her cell phone was in the bedroom then she must be at home. Oliver was about to check the whole villa again when he saw the balcony door was slightly open. He quickly went to the balcony and there she was, curled up in the corner. She was asleep sitting on the floor, hugging herself and resting her head on the wall.
Oliver's anxious heart became calm the moment he saw Ava was there, he slowly approached her and picked her up carefully with a steady movement. She was so light. Oliver gently brought her back to the bedroom and put her down on the bed. When he looked at her face on the light he saw dry tears on her white cheeks and her eyelashes were still wet. Oliver felt pain looking at her slightly swollen eyes. Has she been crying all this time? Silly women. This was the woman he loved, she always pretended to be strong in front of him but when she was alone she would fall apart. Oliver sighed.
The light in the bedroom was very bright. Ava was used to sleeping in the dark so the light woke her up but she didn't open her eyes. She felt Oliver's presence and was confused, where was she? Bedroom? Then she remembered, she couldn't fall asleep so she was sitting on the balcony and probably fell asleep there and Oliver brought her back to the bed. But why was Oliver here? Didn't he say he wouldn't come back home tonight? Nevertheless, Ava's heart was flowing with joy thinking he came back.
Oliver smiled and said softly, "I know you're awake."
Ava opened her eyes and looked at Oliver with her slightly red and swollen eyes but didn't say anything. Ava was a straightforward person, if there was a problem she liked to talk it out and clear the misunderstanding. So she decided to give Oliver a chance to explain what happened to him tonight.
The reason why Ava and Oliver were struggling with their relationship so much was that one of them liked to overthink matters and the other didn't like to explain himself.
"Why are you back?" Ava said lightly but there was a touch of blame in her tone.
"I was worried about you. Ava, I'm sorry for tonight." Oliver didn't say anything else, he just took Ava in his arm and hugged her tightly.
He held her so tightly that Ava couldn't breathe. "Oliver you're...holding.. too tight," Ava said struggling to breathe.
Oliver quickly loosened his arm and looked at her affectionately for a while.
Ava bit her lip. She wanted him to explain but when he didn't say anything, she felt very uncomfortable. She wanted to let it go but she knew she wouldn't be able to sleep if he didn't clear out her doubts so she decided to ask him.
"Oliver, are you going to tell me, what happened tonight?" Ava's low voice sounded very loud in the quiet room.
Oliver got tense, there seems to be a struggle in his heart. He knew tonight he almost exposed it to Ava but he couldn't tell her, at least not yet. He was afraid if Ava found out everything at this moment she would leave him.
"Ava, do you trust me?" Oliver said in a deep voice looking straight into her eyes.
He has already started the game, now he couldn't leave it, neither could he back down from it. All he could do was to keep playing. He felt he was being very cruel to her by doing that but he had no other choice.
"Yes," Ava answered without any hesitation.
"Then I'll tell you, but not tonight, ok?" Oliver's heart shook thinking how he was deceiving her. He was really ruthless.
For a few seconds, Ava was quiet then she said softly, "OK."
Ava knew Oliver had some secrets which he has been hiding from her and she could understand that whatever happened to him tonight had something to do with his secret. So she didn't want to force him. As long as they had a future together, Ava was willing to wait for him to tell her everything. Ava believed Oliver must have a reason for not telling her about his past but she trusted him wholeheartedly which was enough at this moment.
"Go back to sleep, it's late." Oliver stroked Ava's hair gently.
"OK." Ava held Oliver's waist tightly and with a smile, she closed her eyes.
Oliver leaned forward gently pressed his lips to her then said goodnight in a low voice and fell asleep taking her in his arms.
