Liam smiled but didn't answer her questions instead he said in a low voice: "I have never seen a woman like you."
He was really in awe of her. Why didn't he meet her before, if he did then he would make her his and live a happy life with her and for once he would win against Oliver.
"I won't tell anyone about your illness, but you have to promise me that you will cooperate with the treatment and quit smoking," Ava said solemnly.
"Thank you for your kindness, Dr. Green. Since you are so kind to me today, I would like to return the favor by giving you a piece of useful information." Liam said mysteriously.
"Liam, will you please stop playing this game? If you have something to say, then say it already." Ava felt like torture listening to his bullshits. She was a straightforward person and liked a direct approach most of the time, this acting and drama she couldn't take it.
"Fine no more games. Is Mia Easton you friend?" Liam looked at Ava calmly and asked seriously.
"Yes, but how do you know her?" Ava frowned, she was a bit surprised that Liam mentioned Mia. That's was the last thing on her mind about why Liam was here.
"You need to be careful of her. She might not who you think she is." Liam said calmly.
Ava stared at Liam unable to form a single word, she was too stunned. What the hell! What kind of rubbish is this, Mia was the most simple-minded person she has ever met, why should she believe Liam. He must be lying. But why would he do that, what benefit he had by poisoning her relationship with Mia? Ava was very confused. She couldn't find any reason for him to do that.
"Liam will you stop spouting nonsense, I know my friend very well she is not like that," Ava said firmly.
"I knew you wouldn't believe me. I have proof." Liam said bitterly and took out his phone from his pocket and handed it to Ava.
Ava took his phone hesitantly and looked at the pictures where Mia was sitting in a high-end restaurant, talking and laughing with a strange woman. After staring at the women for a while Ava realized it was Kiara. The pictures were very high resolution so it was very clear.
Ava stayed frozen in her chair staring at the pictures on her hand. She couldn't find her voice, she trusted Mia wholeheartedly then how could she do this to her! Ava's mind starts to race, she suddenly realized she has been sharing everything with Mia. Was she feeding information to Kiara, why else would she be with Kiara knowing who Kiara was? Is that why Kiara was at Oliver's office the other day after their fight? And was that how Kiara ended up in the water park? At that thought, she felt a deep sense of betrayal. It all makes sense now how Kiara subtly created more problems between her and Oliver with the help of Mia. She even blamed Oliver for inviting Kiara to the water park.
"Can you send the pictures to me?" Ava said after a while.
"Sure." Liam readily agreed and quickly passed the photos to her.
Liam left after dropping the bomb and Ava sat there lost for a while. Since that accident, Ava was afraid of making new friends. The word 'friend' meant a lot to Ava so she didn't make friends that easily. To her there was no casual friend, she believed having one true friend was far better than having ten fake friends. She does not like to open her heart to anyone unless she trusted them wholeheartedly, and Ava considered Mia as her true friend and trusted her with all her secrets. But she could not understand why Mia did that. As far as she understood Mia, she was sure there must be a reason for Mia to collaborate with Kiara, she was not the kind to betray her friend. She needed to talk to her and find out the truth.
Ava came to the inpatient department, as she passed by the nurse's station she looked for Mia but she was not there. Ava came back to her office.
Susan came after a while to put some patient's file on the cabinet, she saw Ava was sitting on her chair a bit absentminded, she asked her worriedly, "Director Green are you feeling ok? You look really pale."
"I am ok Sister Susan, I guess I am just hungry. Have you had lunch yet?" Ava said rubbing her temple, her head was aching.
"No, not yet, I was waiting for you to finish your outpatients." Susan closed the cabinet door and said with a smile.
"Have you seen Mia?" Ava asked.
"She should be on the rounds. I don't know what happened to this girl, she has been very distracted recently. In the morning she injected on the patient in room no. 3 and the needle didn't even get into the vein. Now the back of the patient's hand is all swollen. Fortunately, it was detected early and nothing serious happened to him." Susan sighed and shook her head helplessly.
Mia was her apprentice and she was her responsibility so Susan felt very pressured about her mistakes. In fact, Mia used to be very sincere toward her work before, something must be bothering her for her to act like that.
"I'll talk to her. She must be upset over something." Ava smiled.
Hospital lounge.
Ava found a seat and sat there quietly with her food, Susan and Mia were at the counter paying for their food.
Dr. Tyson saw Ava was sitting alone, he came straight to her with his plate and asked with a gentle smile, "Director Green, can I sit here?"
"Sure Dr. Tyson, please have a seat," Ava said with a smile.
"Doctor Green, are you alright you look a bit upset." Dr. Tyson said looking at Ava.
"No, Dr. Tyson. I am ok. Why did you say that?" Ava asked with a smile but wondered if she was that easy to read.
"You look sad, and you look like this dish here." Dr. Tyson put his finger toward an item on his plate and said innocently.
Ava burst out laughing hearing him and said "Dr. Tyson, you are really funny."
"I am glad I could make you laugh. You have a wonderful smile and you should smile more often." Dr. Tyson said as he started to eat.
Ava felt a bit embarrassed at his words but said gently, "Well, it's not always possible to be happy and laugh for no reason. Besides people might think I am crazy."
"True but I would still like to see you happy every day and if you let me I will make you laugh with my silly jokes." Dr. Tyson said jokingly and looked at Ava's beautiful eyes, for a moment he lost himself in them.
"Really! I guess our Dr. Tyson is very free recently and putting all his effort in humanitarian work." Ava said teasing him.
Susan and Mia came to the table with their food in hand. Susan saw Dr. Tyson, she said in a mocking tone, "Wow Dr. Tyson is here, I wonder from where the sun rose today."
"What are you talking about Sister Susan. I am always here. You just don't notice me, that's actually kind of heartbreaking because such a handsome face of mine could go unnoticed by you. I am actually hurt!" Dr. Tyson said with a wide smile as he raised his eyebrows.
The three women burst out laughing and shook their heads in unison. "Fine.. fine can we eat now!"
Dr. Tyson was an excellent doctor in the Department of anesthesiology. He is likely to be promoted as the director in the next election. An anesthesiologist is an important person at any surgery because his proper skill of providing anesthesia ensures a patient's safety during the operation.
