"Hello, Miss Green My name is Oliver Knight!" Oliver said in a deep and confident voice. His eyes seemed to twinkle when he looked at her, but it was for a second or two, Ava wasn't even sure if she saw it right. Now his face and eyes looked as cold as ice.
Ava blinked. For the first time in her life, she saw someone change his face faster than turning a page. "Well, Mr. Knight you wanted to see me. What can I do for you?" Ava asked politely. She was not a timid girl, but for some unknown reason in front of this man, she felt somewhat restrained as if she needed to be cautious around him.
"Last Thursday, you slept with me." Oliver, who was so calm and cold as ice just a moment ago became wild the next second.
Ava almost choked when she heard what he said. What the hell! How could he say something like that to someone's face and what does he mean by she slept with him? It's clear that he forced her, OK! How could there be such an impudent person in this world? No wonder he left money behind before leaving the hotel that day. At that thought, she felt anger rising inside her, he disrespected her by leaving that 500 dollars bill.
Ava glared at him and said through gnashed teeth, "I did no such thing. It was you who did it."
Oliver ignored her glares and said in a serious tone, "Listen, Miss Green, I won't go around with you about this so I'll get to the point. I heard something happened to your family business, I can help you."
Ava was surprised, she blurted out, "How do you...." but before she finished she already understood how he knew. Who is Oliver knight? Of course, he knew, he practically runs the city. Ava was distracted and didn't notice when Oliver started to walk toward her. She only realized it when he stood a few inches away from her, but close enough so she could smell the musky smell mixed with spicey shower gel coming from him. Ava's heart started to race faster as she raised her head and looked him in the eye, those eyes! So deep, so dark, just like two pits of dark holes that will suck her soul away from her body. She wanted to look away but she couldn't! There was something there in the way he was looking at her, Ava felt like an invisible force was holding her somehow.
"It's not hard to know," Oliver said in a very low voice still staring at her. Ava's eyes looked heavy and her lips were slightly parted which reminded him of the night they spent together. Suddenly Oliver had the urge to run his finger on her smooth skin, so he raised his hand and touched her rosy cheek with his fingertips. Ava's breath hitched and Oliver's lips curved into an evil smile. He liked how his simple touch affected her.
Ava was shocked by the way her body shivered at Oliver's light touch. How could she feel like that when he barely touched her? Ava suddenly had a very bad feeling about the man in front of her. She needed to stay away from him if she wanted to have a peaceful life. Ava blinked and quickly took two steps back creating some distance between them. She calmed herself down and said in a composed voice, "Why do you want to help me? What's in it for you?"
"I want you to be my woman!" Oliver put his hand back in his pocket and said indifferently. His face once again became cold.
Ava stared at him blankly as if she didn't understand what he meant. "What?"
Oliver didn't like to repeat himself but Ava's reaction amused him so he said again but this time a bit slowly, "I said, I. want. you. to. be. my. woman and I will help out with your father's business."
Ava still stared at him blankly. What the hell is he talking about? Why would he want her to be with him? And as what? His girlfriend? His mistress? Everyone was well aware of his reputation as a playboy, there are so many rumors involving him in the upper-class circle. He changes women like clothes and never committed to anyone as per tabloid, so why any woman who has a little bit of self-respect would choose to be with him unless they were after his money? Ava's eyes widen in realization, is that what he thinks she wants? His money? That must be it, that's why he left money at the hotel, he thinks she would throw herself at him if he offered help to save her father's business. Unbelievable!
