In the ward, Ava was sleeping peacefully and dreaming. She saw she was in Venice at the "midsummer night's dream" competition. She just stepped onto the stage wearing a red evening gown. She was looking beautiful and elegant in that dress. She slowly approached the Piano and sat down to play, the audience was watching her closely. Ava started to play a simple prelude and suddenly Melody fell from the sky like a fallen angel. She had a violin in her hand and she started to play along with Ava. Just like the perfect pair they used to be, they kept playing like no one was there, and when they finished the audience applaud loudly. Ava stood up and held Melody's hand then said in an excited voice, "Melody you came!"
Ava suddenly opened her eyes and she was in a daze as if she was still on the stage with Melody.
Oliver clearly heard Ava calling out Melody's name, he frowned. He came closer to Ava and took her hand in his hand and asked worriedly, "Ava, are you alright?"
Ava looked at Oliver and as her pupils focused on Oliver she realized she was not in Venice, it was just a dream. Ava smiled and asked, "Oliver, when did you come?"
"A while back. Silly girl, you really scared me to death." Oliver said feeling a bit relieved seeing Ava was awake.
Ava blinked and suddenly remember the whole thing that happened before she passed out. Ava started to panic as she subconsciously touched her tummy and asked almost in fear, "Oliver, our child, is he alright?"
After Liam left Oliver personally asked the doctor what happened to Ava and how was the child. He gently stroked on Ava's cheek and said in a soft tone, "The child is fine. The doctor said you have been working too hard lately and haven't rested well. You need to stay home and rest well. The fetus is not stable yet and too much work or stress could cause a miscarriage. So from now on, you are not allowed to work at the hospital."
"But..." Ava was unwilling and she still wanted to argue.
"Baby, don't you want our child to be born healthy? Then please listen to me." Although Oliver was requesting, but his tone was very domineering, hard for anyone to refuse.
Ava looked at her flat stomach, her face was full of motherly love. She stroked her stomach gently and felt happy at the thought of a little life inside her. For her child, she would compromise with her career, so finally, Ava agreed to quit her job. She could not wait to meet the little beep. Unconsciously a soft smile appeared on her face.
"You must be hungry, I'll go buy something for you." Oliver stood up and said with a smile.
"How do you know I'm hungry?" Ava asked with a surprised face. It's true that recently Ava had a good appetite and as long as there was nothing greasy in front of her she will eat it happily.
"I've read books. Pregnant women are always hungry." Oliver said with a serious face.
Ava smiled when thought, Oliver has already started to look into pregnancy books which meant he was genuinely happy and eagerly waiting for this child. Ava felt very happy.
"I want to eat congee with preserved egg and lean meat."
"OK, I'll get it for you right away. You take some rest and don't get out of the bed." Oliver said and placed a soft kiss on her forehead before he left.
Ava nodded and said, "OK, hurry back."
Ava was transferred to a VIP room, she was lying on the bed quietly looking out of the window. It was already evening, the sun has sat painting the sky in orange.
In the past few months since she met Oliver, her life has undergone tremendous changes. She has become the director of Cardiology from a simple cardiologist. She wondered how many doctors would get such an opportunity at this young age and within such a short time of their career. For some people, it takes their whole life to reach a director's position. In this way, Ava was really lucky.
Before Oliver, her future was almost set, she thought she would marry Jacob and live a simple life but now Jacob slowly faded away from her life. Although he sometimes sends her emails, but Ava never replies to him, they agreed to become friends if they ever meet again but Ava was certain that will never happen.
Compared with Jacob, Oliver was really a perfect partner. He gave her all the happiness she ever craved for. Oliver was like a dream that came into her life and made all her dreams come true. He gave her everything. They loved and trusted each other with their life. Apart from the fact that they were not married their life was perfect.
Ava touched her belly. Yes, she was pregnant and Oliver hasn't proposed to her yet. Should she be worried about it? After all, love was love but the marriage was security, sometimes, she really couldn't understand a man's mind. If a woman was bearing her boyfriend's child wouldn't the first thing he would want to do was to marry her if he really loved her? She wanted to trust Oliver, be patient, and wait for him to propose to her. But the thought of her belly getting bigger was really making her worried. The more Ava thought about it, the more she started to panic about the whole situation.
