The Newspapers

The next day, the sun rose high in the sky and it was a brand new day. The weather was very good sunny and warm.

Oliver was sitting in his office reading various newspapers, all the headlines were about Mackie and him. Oliver was staring at a picture of him and Ava in the corridor last night. Unfortunately, some reporters at the event took a few pictures of them while they were talking in that quiet corridor. Normally if it was someone else Oliver would block the news but since it was Ava he was actually happy to see the news.

Last night, after Ava left with Daniel, Oliver immediately called uncle Joe to find out everything about Ava, Daniel, their time in the US, and the A&D group. As usual Uncle Joe was very efficient, he immediately contacted his associates in the US and by morning he found everything he needed to know.

Oliver read the investigation report and found out, Ava and Daniel were actually married, and they do have a daughter, however that daughter was adopted. About the A&D group, everything about them was already public except for the fact that Ava and Daniel both were equal partners in the company.

Oliver leaned on his chair and looked outside, his eyes were sharp and determined. Last night he promised his son to bring back his mom soon and he was very determined to make that happen as soon as possible. He must bring her back and win this game and once he does, he will never let her go again. 'Ava, you needed time, I gave you 3 years, now you must come back to me now and fulfill your promise so that we can start fresh like you said we would before you left.' Suddenly a wicked smile showed up on his full lips.

Ava's house at the Bay,

Ava woke up early in the morning. Since she and Daniel adopted the little girl Nina, she grew a habit of waking up very early morning so that she can take care of her daughter. Usually, it's Daniel who would make breakfast for the family but sometimes when Ava wakes up too early, she will make breakfast for the whole family and have them together. She loved Nina very much and liked to take care of her by herself. This little angel has healed the void Ava felt in her heart after losing her child.

Ava came downstairs and saw the familiar scene of Daniel making breakfast in the kitchen wearing an apron. She walked to him and asked with a smile, "Good morning Danny! Umm…it smells so good what are you making?"

"Good morning! Your favorite wonton soup." Daniel said with a dotting smile as he looked at her. After they got married Daniel had to use endearments when they were in public, however at home he never did that. He knew Ava wouldn't like that. Their relationship was nothing more than friends when they entered their house.

"Wow, Daddy, you are making wonton soup again…Yay!" Nina smelled the food when she came to the kitchen and started jumping up and down excitedly.

"Yes, little girl. Take your mother and have a seat in the dining room. It's almost ready." Daniel said with a warm smile and drove the mother and daughter out of the kitchen as it was very hot in there.

Ava took Nina's hand went to the dining room and sat down. There were a lot of newspapers sitting at the table as Daniel has a habit of reading newspapers every day. Ava never liked to read newspapers but her eyes fell on the bold letter on the headlines and seeing her name there she picked up one of the newspapers curiously to read the news. She was assuming it would be about her charity event or her concert but when she read it she was thunderstruck.

What the hell!!!

One headline said: 'The president of Knight international and the famous international female pianist Mackie were found in a quiet corridor at the charity event yesterday alone. Is there something going on between them?'

Ava frowned and took out another newspaper.

Another headline said: 'Old acquaintance or ex-wife's return!'

One by one Ava checked all the newspapers on the dining table, she can't believe her eyes, there was no news about her concert or charity event instead, all the newspapers were focused on her and Oliver's relationship. This is absurd!! Ava was so angry she wanted to scream, she stood up from the table and threw them into the garbage bin outside.

Three years later, Ava thought everyone has already forgotten her existence then how she became the headline of every major newspaper overnight? This must be Oliver's doing, that evil scheming man must have paid the newspaper to print this news. What does he think, he can create trouble between her and Daniel this way. In his dreams!!

Nina saw her mother was a bit upset, she sat there quietly. She was a very clever and sensitive girl and knew when to talk and when to keep quiet. After a while when Ava calmed down a little, she asked in a soft voice "Mom, are you ok?"

"Yes, sweetie. I am good. Tell me how is your study going?" Ava quickly changed her mood and asked with a soft smile. She didn't want to affect the little girl with her sour mood.

"It's good, I have learned a few more words yesterday," Nina said in her sweet baby voice. She was only 2 years so her words were not still very clear. It was adorable when she talked.

"Really that's great my little girl. Mom is very proud of you. " Ava said with a warm smile.

At that time Daniel came from the kitchen holding the breakfast in his hand. He looked at the two and said with a warm smile, "Breakfast is ready, girls."

"Oh! Thank you, Daddy." Nina said clapping her hands.

"You welcome baby girl, now let's eat."

Daniel looked around the table habitually, and asked, "Where are today's newspapers? Did Sister Li forget to bring them in today? "

"No, I've thrown them away. Don't read the newspapers, they all are talking rubbish." Ava said in a slightly angry tone.

Daniel was confused about why Ava was reacting so much to the newspapers. There must be something about her in there. He was busy since morning making breakfast and didn't have a chance to glance at the newspaper so he didn't know.

Daniel asked in a casual tone, "What did the paper say, that made you so angry?"

"Nothing important. Listen, Danny, I am going to my parent's house tonight."

"Ok, I'll come with you."

"No, not tonight. Maybe in a few days. My parents must be shocked by the news of my return. I want to meet them first to explain things. After all, I didn't even tell them I was leaving. They must have thought I died."

"Alright! As your wish." Daniel said with a smile, he respects Ava's wish very much so obviously he would do as she asked.
