The Reassurance

After dinner, Daniel went to his study to work, while Ava took Nina to her bedroom to put her on the bed. After Nina fell asleep Ava took a shower and went to the kitchen to warm some milk for Daniel then came to Daniel's study.

Daniel heard the knock on the door he raised his head and saw Ava standing at the door holding a glass of milk. Daniel was surprised. "Why are you still awake?"

"I am going to bed now, just thought of dropping this off for you first. Don't work so hard Danny, you will get sick." Ava said with worry.

"Thank you, but you didn't have to bring it yourself. You could have just asked sister Li to send it." Daniel said with a warm smile. But honestly, he loved it that Ava brought the milk herself, it meant she was probably accepting him slowly.

Ava put the milk in front of him and sat down. She suddenly asked out of the blue, "Danny, do you think we made a mistake by coming back?"

Daniel was stunned because it was Ava who wanted to come back to China, Daniel didn't really have a family so he didn't care where he lived, as long as he could be with Ava he could live anywhere in the world. But Ava would often talk about her family and say how she missed them. So he wondered why all of a sudden she was asking that.

Daniel frowned and asked worriedly, "Ava, what happened? Why are you asking this question suddenly? Didn't you want to come back because you missed uncle and Aunty?"

Ava sighed and started to rub her temple again, she suddenly said in a sad tone, "Danny I went to see him today. After meeting him I am having a feeling that we should have stayed in the USA. He is ruthless I am afraid he will hurt you and Nina away from us. I won't be able to bear it if anything happens to you two because of me." Ava's eyes turned red and two strings of tears fell down her pink cheeks.

Daniel immediately understood Oliver must have threatened her, he immediately came to Ava and took her in his arm to soothe her. He said in a very serious but gentle voice, "Ava, honey you don't have to worry about our safety. Today Nina's disappearance was my fault. I didn't think something like that could happen so I never thought of putting her on security details but from now on she will be under security details 24/7. I have already appointed some bodyguards who will be here from tomorrow morning and follow her around everywhere she goes. And as for me, don't you have faith in me? I am not that weak, and neither I am scared of him. And you should not be either, Ava it's your right to be in your home country, no one can take that right from you. He cannot force you to do anything you don't want to do. Do you understand? so let go of this fear."

Ava raised her head and looked at Daniel's starry eyes, she instantly felt comfortable and relief washed over her. Her emotions were very complex at the moment. She wanted to believe in Daniel and be strong for him and Nina. Daniel was right she couldn't let Oliver get his way like he always does. She will be strong and refuse him. Ava believed in Daniel and knew he will never let her down. However, she was still hesitant because she knew Oliver could be really cruel when he wanted to be. She was afraid if Oliver loses his temper he might hurt Daniel badly. What will she do then?

"But Danny..."

"Ava, please don't doubt yourself, don't let him get to you. I told you before, I don't care about your past. You are my wife and Nina is my daughter, all I want from you is to accept me with all your heart and spend the rest of your life with me. Our family is already perfect, maybe in the future, you can give me another baby and the four of us can live a happy life. I don't mind if you don't want another baby, the three of us still can be happy together. We are a family, and no one can break us apart, don't ever forget that." Daniel's hold on Ava got a little tighter. He couldn't even think of losing her, he has been in love with her since they were in high school and now that they were finally together he had no intention to let her go ever.

Ava felt relieved and reassured by Daniel's words and for the moment she wanted to hold on to the idea of them being a happy family. She knew Daniel will never hurt her the way Oliver had so for now she wanted to hold onto him.

"OK! It's late. You should go to bed."

"Yeah, you too. Good night!" Daniel said affectionately.

"Good night!"

Ava smiled and walked to her bedroom feeling emotionally drained again. Since she came in contact with Oliver again her emotion seems to fluctuate a lot, she didn't know how to get a hold of her emotions but one thing she knew was that she couldn't go back to the devil, not again.
