Orion's request

After dinner, Ava and Orion came to the living room and Ava talked to him about music and the previous chords she taught him last Wednesday before she played a new one for him. Orion listened carefully to everything Ava said and when it was his turn to play what Ava just taught him, she was astonished at how well he played without making any major mistakes. Ava could tell Orion's ability to understand music was extraordinary, once again Ava was conflicted. Was he really not Oliver's own son? After an hour their time was up, Ava smiled satisfied, and said, "Orion, you are doing really good, I am very happy with your progress. Keep it up and you will be a great musician one day."

"Thank you, Miss Mackie, Can Orion get a reward for playing well?" Orion suddenly asked looking at Ava with his round eyes.

At first, Ava was a bit taken aback a little by his sudden request but he looked so adorable that Ava couldn't help but smile and asked "What reward does our little Orion want?" The look in Ava's eyes was tender and affectionate, she wished Orion was her own son.

"There is an animated movie running at the cinema, I want to watch it but Dad is so busy all the time he couldn't take me. Orion hasn't watched a movie at the cinema in a long time. Will you take me to watch it?" Orion asked expectantly looking at Ava with his round eyes.

"Orion, stop making trouble. Miss Mackie is very busy, she doesn't have time to take you to the movie." Oliver put down the book he was reading and said in a stern voice however he could barely contain the smile in his dark eyes.

Ava was already feeling bad for the child now Oliver's harshness toward him made her feel even worse; she looked at Orion's dejected face and quickly said, "I'll take you, no problem. But today it's already late, you have to go to bed now. How about I pick you up tomorrow afternoon?"

"Really, Miss Mackie?" Orion's face lit up like Christmas lights and he smiled so wide it felt like it would brighten up the whole room.

Ava's heart melted instantly, she smiled and promised, "Of course. I will pick you up tomorrow as soon as I finish my work, ok!"

"Dad, did you hear that? Miss Mackie agreed to take me to the movie. Dad, can you please make some time tomorrow and come with us?" Orion said to Oliver excitedly then he turned to Ava and asked expectantly, "Miss Mackie can dad also come along?"

Ava blinked a few times but she didn't have the heart to refuse the adorable boy so she smiled and agreed. "Of course."

"Yea! Miss Mackie, you are not only beautiful but also very kind. Thank you." Orion jumped up and down and then hugged Ava tightly. He didn't know why but he felt his heart was full the moment Ava hugged him back.

After sending Orion to get ready for bed Oliver walked Ava outside to her car. When they were at the courtyard Oliver suddenly looked at the snow and said sadly, "Ava, do you remember the winter when we made the snowmen here?"

Ava was stunned, she turned and looked at Oliver, the silver moonlight sprinkled on him making his handsome face more gorgeous but the way he was looking in the direction where they made the snowmen made him look really lonely. Ava's heart clenched at the sight however she didn't know how to respond to him so she said, "Thank you, Mr. Knight, it's late I should go now."

Oliver was disappointed, did she really not care about those memories anymore? Does she hate him that much? He has been holding on to those memories and trying to keep living but she refuses to even talk about them. Oliver sighed in his heart but didn't say anything. When Ava reached her car Oliver said coldly from behind, "Don't forget what you promised me, Ava. Less than a month left now, you must come back to me."

Ava's heart start to beat erratically but she didn't dare to turn back and look at him. She opened the car door and left quietly.

Oliver stared at the car until it disappeared into the darkness. He lowered his eyes and thought sadly, how long are you going to torture me, Ava? Please come back to me, can't you see how crazy I am for you? I want another chance to make you happy but if you are really happy without me in your life then I promise Ava, I will let you go. I will let you be happy. If you don't come back to me this time I will give up.
