ID-Card, Magic and the Acadamy
I found myself in the same position like yesterday, between two mountains of flesh. And I escaped, in the same way, by patting Maias head.
"Morning mom, can you release me?" Clair
"Monrnin.. did you sleep well?"Maia
"Yes, let´s get up, we have to go to the adventurer guild and to the village chief."Clair
"Yes, yes but first comes breakfast." Maia
We both dressed and went down, where dad greeted us.
And after a quick breakfast I walked alongside dad to the house with a shield and the two swords on top of the shield.
The interior was in a spartan style, a board with a few sheets and a reception. In the right corner was a desk with some chairs but no one was here except for the receptionist.
And against all fantasy stories it was no woman who stood there but a man.
"Morning Kurt how can I help you?"Receptionist
"I´d like to get an ID-Card for Clair here." was his answer while pointing at me.
"Oh for the little miss? Ok wait a moment." said the receptionist and went through a door to the back of the house.
We didn´t have to wait long. He came back with a small knife and a silver card.
"Here, put some blood on it and it will show us your Status."Receptionist
I did as I was told and pricked my finger, it was kinda hard because I had to put a lot of strength into the knife and it even bent a little.
But I succeeded and the card started to glow a little.

Both the eyes of dad and the receptionist went wide.
I asked with a small voice " is it good?"
"Yeah more than that, normally a kid your age has no more than 5 in their attributes." said the receptionist
-Dammit I thought it was not much but apparently it is.-
"So dad will teach me how to smith ?" Clair
Dad just stood there without moving or saying a word. After a few seconds, I tucked his shirt and he regained his
composure.
"Yeah sweety I will... we have to go to your mom, she sure want to see your stats."
"Ok, bye mister"Clair
"By..bye"Receptionist
We walked back home and I got the same reaction from mom for my ID-Card.
"Mom can we go to Georg? I want to start with magic."Clair
She had a wry smile and I don´t know why but alas she said."Yeah, come we will test your affinity."
So we went to the school, looks like it is also the library with him as the librarian. But there were not many books.
We took off our shoes, this rule is stupid if you ask me and went inside.
And inside we saw Georg sitting in a large chair, reading a book.
"Ah Maira and Clair it is good that you came I found the orb" George
"Hi Georg thank you"Maia
George stood up and took a small orb out of a chest, which stood behind the chair, near the wall.
"Here Clair put your hand on it and it will glow in the light of your affinity."Georg
I took the orb and it started to glow. The problem was that I don´t know how to hide my affinitys and so it did not glow in one color but changed from red, to blue, white, green, black, brown and purple.
Both Georg and Maia had an open mouth and looked like they are brain dead.
"Ähm, is that supposed to happen?"
There was no answer. "Hello? can you hear me?" there was still no answer so I tucked the the sleeve of my moms dress.
But she did not respond.
-Is it so amazing? I have a problem, maybe I have to leave after a quick lesson in magic and blacksmithing. -
I pushed the orb in the hands of Georg and this action brought him back.
"Äh...äh Clair did I see right you there were seven colors?"Georg
"Yes, what do they mean?"Clair
"It.. it means you have a affinity for Fire, Water, Wind, Stone, Light, Darkness and Space magic. That is unheard in history, most mages have just one affinity and even the summoned heroes never did have more than two.
And even Space magic this magic is just a myth." George
My mother shouted"My sweetheart is a magic genius she has to go to the Malindor Acadamy!"
"Maia the Malindor Acadamy is for nobles, you don´t have the money for it." was Georg reply with a sad tone.
"If it is money how much do I need?"Clair
"I heard it cost 4 gold coins to study there for 4 years "George
Maia looked down, she know that it is way to much.
"If it is 4 gold coins I have it."I said
Both repeated their brain dead behavior. And after a poke in Georgs stomach he snapped out of it.
"How have you so much money?"George
"I told you I found a gold coin in the hut didn´t I, that was a lie I found more."Clair
"Huh, hut? gold coin?"Maia
"How much did you found?"Georg
"10"Clair
"10....10....so much?"Georg
"Yes am I able to go there?"Clair
"You could but it is a long journey to the capital and the next caravan comes in two weeks so you have to wait."Georg
"So mom, can I go?"Clair
"Ähm... I don´t know you just arrived here. Are you sure you don´t want a few years?"Maia
"But I can learn magic in the academy. I want to start earlier. "Clair
"If you say so, it is sad but your life. Then let´s stay the two coming weeks together and make many good memories ok?"Maia
Oh this was fast, here I thought I had to go on my own and leave them worried. Must be my persuasion skill.
"Yeah but I also want to learn magic from you."Clair
"I can show you. Thank you Georg. Clair let´s go home and I´ll teach you something about magic. We don´t want to let you arrive unprepared in the academy."Maia
"No problem, no problem, see you soon"George
We said goodbye and went home, where we sat down in the kitchen.Looks like dad is out.
"Ok Clair, magic is the life essence of everything, it is in us, plants and animals. We can use this essence for an effect we want to create. It is important to know what you want to create if you don´t have an image in your head it won't be possible and the gathered magic will disperse. Now try to feel your magic, it feels like a small well of water in you."Maia
I acted like I was in a deep meditation and after fife minutes I said that I can feel it.
"You are a genius Clair normally it takes hours to feel it. Now try to imagine a small gust of wind and then put some mana into the imagination. It is possible to use magic out off your affinity, but it takes significant more mana, but for you it should not be a problem. But it is really hard for many to use it the first time."Maia
I imagined a gust of wind in front of me and placed a little bit of mana into my , hopefully soon to be, gust of wind 100 mana should be enough.
WHUSCH!
Not a small gust of find came it was a large one, which blew me and mom from our chairs.
"Kyaa"Maia
"Eh"Clair
I laid down on the floor and did not know if it succeeded in the right way.
"Mom was that good?"Clair
"That was too good to be normal, what did you imagine? "said Maia while she stood up.
"Just a small gust of wind, " I said as I sat up.
"Looks like you cant control your mana probably, you have to learn it else you will be too exhausted when you use magic."Maia
"Ok, I´ll go out and practice."Clair
"Yeah do that, but go not too far away from the village."Maia
I said "I´ll be careful." while I run outside.
I went outside of the village and sat down in the grass.
-It´s odd that I did not gained a skill, why... could it be that there are no spells in this world and everything spell related magic is cast with mana manipulation? That would explain why it was so easy but why was it so large?
The amount of mana? There is just one way to test it.-
Just like last time I imagined a small gust of wind but this time I just put 10 mana into it.

A small breeze tickled my nose.
- Good, it worked but what if I imagine a small ball of fire? Let´s try it but only with 5 points of mana, I don´t want to set myself on fire.-
I created the image of a small fire orb in front of me and infused the thought with mana.
And a small orange-red ball of fire flickered in front of my face. But it was not really hot, just ...cold. It dispersed after a little time.
- Fire should be hot, why is this one cold?.... I imagined a fire, could it be because I did not consider the oxygen that is needed for a higher temperature and a longer time off burning. And I also did not imagine a temperature. Could my knowledge of science help?-
I repeated the process, but this time I also thought that it should be round about 1000 C° and a small wind has to come from underneath.
Right at the moment in which I infused my thought with mana I felt that 10 will not be enough I have to use 1110 mana for a minute of burning. After I put my mana into it a larger orange orb appeared in front of my head.
And this time it was hot and stayed for a minute
-So the extra wind makes it larger without more mana, more mana for the wind is needed for a longer burning time and the thought of a temperature makes it hotter but consumes more mana. What is with the size and what happens if I increase it to a million? Or further away? First the distance and size and then 10.000 C°-
While I imagined a fire orb 20 meters further away I felt that 10 mana would be not enough. So I put more into it and tried to double the size of the orb. It took 5 more mana for the distance and for the size 20. I infused mana in it and there it is, a small orb 20 meters away from me and double in size than the previous one.
- Now the 10.000C°, but 300 meters away.... It seems like 85 mana is not enough 75 for the distance and 10 for the size and hm.. 10.000 mana for 10.000 C° so it is a one to one reckoning as well as 100 mana for a minute? Let´s see how 10.000 C° feels from a distance of 300m.-
300m away from me a white size orb poped up. The ground under it started to turn black, so fast did it burn.
-Puh hot I can feel it from here I have to dispel it before something starts to burn, but how...
can I take the mana back? Let´s imagine that the mana inside of the orb comes to me.-
I did it and the orb got rapidly smaller until it was gone.
- Feels like I took just the mana for the time. But now what do I do with the circular scorch mark, is it possible to imagine grass that will grow?-
I imagined a sudden spurt in the grows rate of the grass around the circle, that will grow inside of the circle.
-Seems like it will cost 2000 mana, costly for such a small patch of grass.-
right after the infusion of mana the grass started to grow, until the scorched patch was filled wit grass.
-Good now let´s go home, I want to learn to smith a sword.-
