The first forged Sword.

I woke up like yesterday, lying on my bed of pelt and hey.

-I´m so going to find some ducks and make a pillow out of their plumage. But that has time until I am in school-

I stood up and dressed in a plain dress.

-These clothes for woman are so...so breezy no wonder they say so often that they are cold.-

Fully dressed I stood up and walked down to the kitchen, where I saw dad and mom making breakfast.

-When do they stand up? And do I have a clock in my system?-

I greeted them and sat down while I looked at my options menu.

-hm … ah there right under the minimap function. Oh, it is already 9 am. That explains why they are up but why did I slept so long?-

"Mom, could you wake me tomorrow? I don´t want to sleep so long. "Me

"Sure," Mom said while giving me a bowl with soup and bread.

They both sat down and begun to eat.

-I think I´ll give them some money for housing me.-

"Mom, dad you know that I found some money while I was in the woods do you?"I asked

"Yeah, we know what about it?"Both

"I think you need it more than me so I´ll give you the rest I don´t need for the school fee," I said while I laid 6 gold coins in front of them.

"Sweety that is too much, you´ll need it when you´ll go to school."Mom said not knowing what to do.

"I don´t need it and it is for compensating my freeloading here-."I refused her refusal.

"You are not freeloading sweety we think of you like you are our daughter and children can´t freeload." Dad interrupted me.

"But I want you to have it I don´t know the worth of the different coins, but I heard that a gold coin is enough for a family of four, so either you take it or I´ll throw it away," I said in a child-like way.

Both had a wry smile and mom even had some tears in the corner of her eyes.

"If you insist on it, we´ll take it honey but say it if you want it back."Dad tried to make a compromise.

-If you would know that I have more than 750.000 of them.-

"Jup, but I won´t. "I agreed.

So we continued our breakfast.

While mom begun to clean up our bowls dad said.

"Now sweety we´ll see if you can identify some ores and if you can we will lit the forge and forge some nails and if you have talent maybe even a pair of daggers."

"Yey let´s go, let´s go "I cheerfully said and pulled him to the forge.

The forge looked normal, an anvil, a furnace, some hammers and a couple of half finished forged things.

Dad went to the back and came with 5 different ore types.

"Clair, can you tell me which ore is which ?"Dad asked.

"Sure I can," I replied.

-Let´s see this gray thing with green patches is copper. The reddish brown thing is iron,

the silver rock thing is zinc, the lightly gold looking ore is tin and the last one is mithril it looks like iron with some silver lines mixed in.-

Ding!

Skill:

Identification:

Don't you know what this is? You won´t have this problem any longer, with the identification skill you´ll know everything. This is not an advertisement it is the truth. If your skill is high enough you now the worth of things, their names, effects, age and in the case of sentient beings even their stats and skills.

So let´s start the peeping show.

-Ah finally an identification skill, but peeping?-

"From left to right they are copper, iron, zinc, tin and mithril dad,"I said while I tried to check his status after maxing it.

Title:

No Luck with weapons:

The wielder of this title has no luck with weapons, they often break or will get lost.

-Oh, that explains some of his story´s.-

While I taught about dad, he looked impressed and said.

"Ok you sure know it, then let´s continue. First we have to lit the forge and smelt the ores. Then we have to smite the ore while it is not completely melted but as well not solid. This is a time-consuming labor because we have to reheat it countless of times. And if you are a good smith you´ll get iron with lesser impurities. If we don´t smite out the impurities the iron will be like a sponge and you can not forge a solid weapon."Dad lectured.

"Ok, but I could heat the iron bar to the optimum heat with magic. I think I could even extract the impurities without heating it. " I said while thinking loud.

"If you are able to do that then you have the best foundation for a master smith, the quality of a weapon lies in the smith and ore. "Dad

-Ok, I just have to imagine that every other thing inside this piece of ore has to separate itself from the metal I want and it should also separate from other things inside.... now the mana input. 30.000 mana.-

The ore began to move a little and cracked loud as much different dust particles flew out of it. It took 1 minute but now in front of me lies some piles of different things. And a net of iron looking things. It looks like an ant hill which was filled with iron.

"Woah, Clair you are a magic genius. Hm, hm you even divided the impurities from each other.

There is gold? zinc, some kind of stone, and other metals. If you would do that in a mine you could get 100% pure metals on mass. "Dad praised me.

"It did work.... magic is almighty," I said disbelieving what I did.

"Normally not but with your power of casting magic without incantations it sure is."Dad enlightened me.

"Now we can continue to the smithing process and yes I know you could will the iron in the form of a blade but then it would not have the heart and soul of the smith in it. Could you smelt this iron net in an ingot sweety? "Dad

I did as he asked and we got a reddish glowing ingot of iron.

"Now we have to smite it in a form on the anvil, can you hold the temperature or is it too much for your mana? I heard from Maia that casting spells that can smelt iron are costly. "Dad worryingly asked.

"No it is easy dad, please continue,"I answered.

He took a forge tong, a hammer and started to pound the ingot in the form of a blade.

"With your help of reheating the ingot it is much faster and easier than normal sweety, thank you." Dad

An hour later he laid the sword blank in an oil bath and said.

"I did this because the blade has to get hard, the hardening process happens when you rapidly cool the iron down. "Dad explained.

"I could have cooled it down with magic." Me

"Yes but you have to know how to do it and I don´t know what happens if you cool it down so fast."

He took the blank out of the oil and asked.

"Sweaty now we have to re-head it a little for round about two hours are you able to do that?"

"Sure but how hot should it be?"I answered with a question.

"Can you slowly heat it up and when it got the right temperature I say stop."Dad

I did and at about 200 °C he said I have to hold this temperature.

"Why do we have to heat it for two ours?" I asked

"I don´t know the exact reason but if we don´t do that the blade will break when we hit something."

So we stood there two hours and talked about some small things.

"Ok let me see, I have to grind a part of it and if there is a yellow or copper colored layer on top of the blade we are finished with the blade. Then we have to sharp it on a grindstone."Dad lectured.

He grounded a part of the blade off and it indeed looked like he said.

"Now we have to cool it down and sharpen it. "Dad put the blade in the oil bath and after a few seconds he went with it to a stone wheel. Sat down and started to push a pedal with his foot.

Shortly after he started the stone wheel started to spin and he begun to grind the blade against it.

A couple of minutes later he was finished and stood up.

"Now we have to carve a hilt and put it around the sword handle," Dad said.

(AutorNote sorry I don´t know how to make the handle and could not found it.)

We carved a handle and put it around the sword, dad put some glue like thing around the sword handle before he gave pushed the hilt over it.

I identified the finished sword and it showed the following:

A normal Iron Sword:

The iron in this sword is nearly 100% pure. This iron sword was forged by a good blacksmith with the support of his daughter. You can nearly feel the love he put into it because he wanted to boast in front of her.

Durability: 1000/1000

"See sweety we have forged a really good sword and you will do most of the work on the next one.

But don´t be down when it will not be as good as this one ok?"Dad said in a tone that virtually pleaded for praising.

"Cool dad this looks really good."I played along and dad had a happy smile.

We repeated the process but this time I smote the ingot and got the smithing skill while I did it.

3 hours later with a maxed smithing skill I identified the sword. Oh and the skill said the following.

Skill:

Blacksmith:

You´ll be able to forge weapons with this skill, You can forge some of the best blades if you

have a high enough level in this skill. But don´t exaggerate in front of your dad, he will get a shattered ego if you do LV MAX

Legendary Iron Sword

The metal is nearly 100% Iron A master blacksmith forged this sword it will never break and will stay forever sharp It is almost sad that it is made out of Iron.

Durability: 15.000

-Ops-

I looked up to dad, but I could not see him.

As I looked around I found him in a corner of the forge in a fetal position while whimpering.

"Hick... my...hick... daughter is a...hick.. better blacksmith than me....hick..with her first sword."Nearly crying dad.

I hugged him from behind and said.

"I am only this good because you taught me so well dad"

-come on convincing and lie skill do your best.-

"Really.. hick?"Dad looked at me with tears in his eyes.

"Really" I stated with a firm voice.

"But, but-" Dad tried to answer back, but I didn´t let him.

"No buts it is at it is you are a great teacher, dad."

"hick, if you say so, it must be true."Dad got slowly normal.

"Ok, I´m better, sweety you can keep your sword, it is your first ever made weapon and it is a good one no less,"Dad said back in his normal behavior.

"Thanks, daddy," I said while hugging him.

-I think I have become pretty good at playing the cheerful daughter-

"Now here you have 20 copper coins, go out and play. I have to work." Dad said while giving me a few coins.

"Okay, I´ll be back in the afternoon,"I replied while running out with my sword in my hands.
