It's been about three days since Jackie's warning and Crystal had been avoiding Hunter like the plague. She always woke up late so she could miss him going out and also went to sleep early so she could avoid seeing him come back. She wasn't sure if Hunter had noticed yet as he was still normal and nonchalant about everything. He still have her cheek kisses before going out and forehead kisses after coming back.
The same thing today. He'd just come into her room giving her a lingering kiss on her cheek before leaving to wherever he always went every morning. It's already become something she'd gotten used to. And to be honest, she kind of liked it. It was an action that made her feel all giddy inside and her heart flutter within her chest.
She'd been laying in bed for about twenty minutes now. Estimating the time Hunter would take before he went out. Checking the time, it read 9:46am. He was definitely out by now.
Sitting up, she hops down her bed stretching her stiff muscles hearing them crack. She yawns one last time making a beeline for the bathroom to brush her teeth. Once she's done, she walks out the bathroom. Grabbing her phone on the nightstand before walking out her room to go to the kitchen. For breakfast of course.
As she enters the kitchen, her phone starts to ring and she checks to see her mom's name on the caller ID. She answers.
"Hi mom"
"Hey sweetheart, how are you? How's the vacation going?" Her mother asks making the girl scrunch up her nose at the question.
This holiday is the most confusing one yet. It was terrible. Yet amazing in a weird way at the same time.
"Its... going good" the brunette answers hesitantly, hoping her mom couldn't hear through her little lie.
"How's everyone? Sakura? And your Uncle Grey?"
"They're all fine" Crystal answers dryly reaching for the eggs for the omelette she was planning to make.
"Are you sure? Because your dad called Grey yesterday and he said he and Sakura are currently in China for a family bonding" crap. She'd been caught.
"Umm.. yes?"
"Why did you lie Crystal?" Her mother asks making said girl bite down on her lip. Not really knowing what to say. Moments pass and her mother soon realises that Crystal was not planning on saying anything. She had nothing to say. Sighing, her mom asks, "so who are you staying with?".
Crystal once again contemplates on telling the truth. But then if she lied again and her mom knew the truth, she'd definitely be in trouble and her mom would also suspect something is wrong for her to lie like that.
"I'm staying with Sakura's boyfriend " she answers bluntly and her mother hums softly.
"I'm glad you didn't lie this time. Anyway, how's everything going? Sakura told me he's now the one taking you on tours. Are you enjoying yourself?"
"Yes mom. Everything is fine" Crystal answers almost immediately making her mother frown at the other side of the phone.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes!"
"Crystal, you only talk fast and yell at the same time when something's wrong. Is something wrong?" Oh crap she was going to be caught.
"No mom. Really! Everything is fine I swear!" Why couldn't she stop yelling.
"You swearing only makes it more obvious Crystal. Tell me what's wrong!" Crystal face palms. Knowing full well that she had been caught. That was how smart her mother was. Her mouth opens and closes like a fish not knowing at to say. Lying would only make things worse because her mom would know that she was lying. So what was there to say? She obviously couldn't tell her what was really going on. Her mom was already uncomfortable with her coming here for a vacation so freaking her out even more wasn't an option.
Just then, there's a knock on the door making Crystal thank the heavens for sending whoever was behind that door.
"Hear that mom? There's someone at the door. Talk to you later bye!" Crystal ends the call, ignoring all her mother protests as she did so.
She skips over to the door with a grin on her face, opening it to find non other than Leonardo standing there. He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark washed jeans and a black leather jacket. His hair slightly messy giving him that sexy look.
His blue eyes stare at her blankly as hers stare at him surprised. "What are you doing here?" She asks cautiously. Now that she knew he was actually a friend of Hunter, she didn't really know what to expect. Was he a psychopath too? What was he capable of?
"Hunter asked me to come pick you up" he says calmly. Voice deep and face blank. Now she knew he was definitely friends with Hunter.
The first time she met him he was so fun and full of life. But now he was almost like a human robot and Crystal didn't really know which personality of his was the real him. Just like with Hunter. He was fun and teasing sometimes but then the next minute his personality flips into a dark and sinister one.
Of course they'd be friends.
"Why?" She asks tilting her head. Leo suddenly walks in nonchalantly. Not even waiting for her to invite him in as he sat on the couch crossing his long legs. This guy was almost as tall as Hunter. If not they were the same height even.
"I don't know. He just asked me to come pick you up. That's all" his blue eyes stare her up and down, unimpressed they read. "Go take a shower and change" he orders making Crystal squint at him before shutting the door that he just came through. Folding her arms, she stands in front of him trying to look intimidating. His eyes were casted down, tapping away on his phone before glancing up at her with a bored expression.
"Who are you? Really?" She asks which makes him raise a brow.
"What are you talking about?"
"You were acting all jolly and full of life the day I met you and now your all cold and the total opposite of yourself from that day" Crystal says accusingly which makes Leo lean back into his seat with a smirk. Spreading his toned arms on the back rest.
"Well, I could say the same to you sweetheart. You were acting all badass and mean the day I met you but now your acting all cute trying to intimidate me" Leonardo says in amusement making the girl puff her red cheeks in anger.
"I'm serious Leo!"
"Its hard to take you seriously when your wearing oversized spongebob pajamas" he eyes her outfit smirking. "Now go change like the good girl Hunter told me you are".
Not able to bare him any longer, Crystal stomps away with a groan, all the way up to her room to take a bath and hope it could calm her down.
After freshening up and changing into a simple purple mickey mouse hoodie and some jeans, Crystal ties her hair up in a pony tail to complete the simple look before grabbing her phone. Exiting the room to go downstairs.
Leo was laying on his back watching some crime show on the TV by the time she got down stairs. He doesn't even look her way when she stands over him by the couch. Staring down at him with folded arms.
Several seconds pass and Crystal was getting more and more irritated by each passing one.
"Umm... I'm standing right here" Crystal grits out which makes the blue eyed man glance up at her. Pretending as if he just noticed her.
"Why didn't you say anything?"
"You knew very well that I was standing right next to you. I was literally standing over your head. Hard to miss" Leonardo rolls his eyes sitting up.
"Did I just glance at you?" He asks and she nods, "then that means i just noticed you" he says with a smirk. He was totally messing with her. Now she definitely knew why he and Hunter were friends.
"Where are we even going?"
"To Hunter's office" Leo says standing up, rubbing his palms together.
"And where exactly is his office?"
"The club you guys met for the very first time" he answers stuffing his hands in his pockets. Crystal tilts her head.
"How does Hunter have an office there?" She asks cluelesssly making the blue eyed man roll his eyes, flicking for head.
"Ow! Hey!" Crystal says with her hand placed on her forehead as she glares at Hunter who was walking over to the front door.
"You're pretty dumb for a New yorker " he states opening the door before glancing back at her, "it doesn't take a genius to figure out that Hunter owns the club".
{}
Crystal raises her hand up to knock but then brings her hand down. She had been standing in front of this office for about ten minutes now, still trying to muster up the courage to knock but her nerves had gone haywire the moment she entered the club.
It was empty, as it only opened in the evening. But it still had her on edge when she realises she was going to be alone in the club with him. Crap.
Indeed she had almost felt shocked when Leo had told her that it belonged to Hunter. Almost.
That explained why the two guards at the VIP room door recognised Sakura and why Hunter had those body guards too. It also explains why he was so rich.
Crystal breathes out nervously, finally gathering the courage to knock on the door and a faint but deep 'come in' sounds from the inside. She twists the door knob with a shaky hand, slowly entering the office to see Hunter and another man, specifically the bald man she had seen the first time she had met Hunter, sitting across from each other.
"Uh..um.." Crystal stutters awkwardly closing the door. Standing there uncomfortable when she realises both men were staring at her.
"Bunny... finally " Hunter grins tangling his fingers, "enjoyed staring at my door out there?" He asks making the girl blush and the bald guy chuckle.
"H..how did you-"
"There are cameras everywhere bun" he says cutting her off and she looks down in embarrassment.
"So.. you're the famous Crystal sylvester Hunter's been going on and on about... i can see why" the bald guy grins mischievously eyeing the girl, "now that I see her, I can see the resemblance you were talking about too" he says almost in a hushed tone which makes Crystal tilt her head in wonder.
Resemblance? What was he talking about?
"Anyway, I believe we're done with everything to be discussed. Make sure to keep me updated with everything " Hunter says authoritatively. Crystal once again getting a whiplash at the sudden change of attitude. He just went from witty and teasing to calm and dominating. In a matter of seconds. Seconds!
"Of course. I'll see you soon " bald guy says standing up walking to the door. Crystal shifts a little for him to pass and he glances at her with an amusing smile. "You too rabbit girl. I'll see you soon" he says with a wide smile making the girl shrink back, uncomfortable.
He stares at her for a long while and Crystal was soon starting to find it hard to breath, but soon sighs in relief when Hunter clears his throat.
"Devon.." Hunter speaks coldly, dark eyes narrowing, "i suggest you quit staring at her like that before you finally get to experience what a broken neck would feel like".
This "Devin" guy stares at Hunter, almost in disbelief that he was actually talking to him like this. But the look on Hunter's face shows that he's serious and that makes him gulp almost audibly before turning to go out the door. This time not sparing a glance at Crystal. He finally shuts the door behind him leaving Crystal and Hunter alone in the room.
Crystal's cheeks redden when she realises that she was literally alone with Hunter in the building. A mixture of nervousness and butterflies twisting insides when she turns around to glance at the intimidating man. Who was now staring at her darkly, as if he were the predator and she was the prey.
After all, she'd always seen him as the big bad wolf and he'd always called her bunny. So it was natural for them to fall into role.
He was now standing in front of his desk, leaning against it with a glass of wine held between his long fingers. He keeps the glass aside, the soft clink echoing in the very quiet room. He raises a slender finger, curling it towards him. His aura dark and commanding, intimidating the submissive girl. It was now Crystal's turn to gulp.
"Come to me bunny"
