CHAPTER 4

[Dr Gabriello's POV]

Sleep barely made its way to me last night. I kept thinking about her, I don't even know her name. I strongly hope that the moon goddess will put her in my path again, my mate. I mouthed the words, and a smile crept its way on my face.

"Professor Gabriello, Good morin'!" A lecturer passing in the hallway saluted me. He looked to be in his late 50's. I smiled at the realisation that even if I look like I am in my early 30's I lived well over six centuries.

"Good morning, professor," I politely replied, it is only my second day at this university, and strangely people already know my name. I wanted to ask him who he was, probably he is from the same department, and this is why he knows my name. However, he already disappeared. On any other occasion, I would have followed him up to satisfy my curiosity, but my brain needs a pick me up. It's rather amusing that an immortal being can still suffer from sleep deprivation. I made my way to the ground floor and politely situated myself in the queue. I noticed a few young female students eyeing me, one of them even made her way towards me.

"Good morning, professor!" The young brunette female saluted me. She is wearing a way too short skirt for the rainy weather, an overly opened white shirt matched with ridiculously high heeled shoes. This young lady doesn't seem to have come to university to study. I thought to myself.

"Good morning," I reply, disinterested. I didn't know how she figured out that I am a professor. Then, I looked at the reusable coffee mug I was holding in my hand with the words "professor of the year" engraved in bold golden letters. I smiled at the words. I received this mug from a male student who wrote an unbelievably great PhD thesis. I still remember his Asian accent and the dedication he poured into his work. He bought me this mug after he received his doctorate.

"What classes are you teaching?" The young lady asked me, twisting a strand of her hair between her thumb and index.

"Biological psychology," I answer and step forward to indicate that I am queueing.

"Oh, wow! My brother studies Biological psychology, his name is James." She says and steps closer to me. My wolf was already growling in my head. Did she not hear of boundaries? I asked myself, feeling how I got angrier. But then I remembered how society grew to be more daring, especially after the end of the 19th century. I sighed and made my way to the barrister in a final attempt to shake her off me.

"What would you like to order?" The barista asked me politely. She was wearing a green apron that perfectly matched her golden hair and hazel eyes. Looking at her I remembered the damask rose woman who ran away from me the other day. I closed my eyes, and I swear that I smelled a faint perfume of damask roses. I gulped, as I felt my heart rhythm accelerate.

"What would you like to order, sir?" The barista asked me again.

"Yeah, sorry…a latte with an extra shot of coffee, please!" I asked, although just smelling that rose perfume made me more alert than any amount of coffee that I could possibly drink.

"Me too," the young woman from before replied, taking me by surprise. I really hoped that she left. I turned around and she smiled at me sheepishly.

"Don't you have a class to attend?" I asked her to point at my watch. I really hoped she would go away. On any other day, I might have indulged myself in her flirtations. But since I found her, my possible mate, I feel guilty just for being around a woman, regardless of her intentions.

"Oh, snap! My music class," She replied like she just now remembered that she has a class to attend. She grabbed the cup of coffee the barista prepared for me and rushed out of the building. I couldn't help but leave out a sigh of relief.

"Young people this day, huh?" The barista remarked and handed me another cup of coffee. I nodded my head in approval.

"Thank you," I replied and begun to head out of the Clerici building to the JHB building. As soon as I stepped outside the same fragrance hit me stronger than ever. I knew it was her, I hurried my steps following the scent, it led me to the Sinclair building. And then again disappeared in a whiff of wolfsbane. I sighed and returned to my day. After all, I had another lecture to hold. I've been invited by Mark to hold a lecture on the evolution of society regarding religious belief. I was rather excited to share my point of view, as someone who lived through the most changing period in human and werewolf history alike.
