Chapter 22

Well, in the end, Water is the one who stopped Sun and the Princess's fight. I'm kinda surprised she pulled it off. "Death?" I yelled when I saw Death and Cloud arrive at the hotel, Cloud was carrying some plastic bags but Death was just eating some snacks. "You're back!" I called out to them. "What are those for?" I asked Cloud but Death answered me instead. "She said she wanted to buy something."

"Lord Death!" Not long after answering Fire's question, a girl with pink milky-bob hair, purple eyes, and white skin came running towards me. "Are you surprised to see me, Lord Death?" She asked with a warm smile. "What are you doing here?" I asked trying not to be rude. "I came to see you!" Her response got me annoyed but I decided to just look at her.

"Should I help you?" Fire asked Cloud then took some of her plastic bags and helped her carry them. "Thanks, but they are not heavy," Cloud replied. They both left with the plastic bags as Fire followed Cloud.

And she didn't want me to help her. I want an explanation.

After two hours, almost everyone was at the pool. "Victory feels good!" Fire yelled carrying a bottle of beer while holding it up. "Ah... that isn't good for you, it's..." Water tried to warn him before drinking but he just smirked. "Nah, don't worry, it's not for people under eighteen years and I'm not under eighteen, besides, I've always wanted to try it."

"But still..." Water wanted to say more but Fire just took a glass and poured the beer into the glass. "Lord Death!" The Princess came and shaped in front of me. "Well, what do you think?" She was wearing a bikini. "Looks cute," I replied. "How can you say that with a straight face!?" She exclaimed. "Oh please, you have a flat chest, there isn't much to look at." Sun made a wicked small laugh. "How dare you!? I'm still developing!" Butterfly shouted. "I'm thirsty," I whispered to myself but both of them heard me. "Don't worry, I'll go get you a drink." Butterfly smiled then left. "She thinks, she's your wife," Sun mumbled then turned to me. "What do you think? Cute right?" She giggled. "Gorgeous." I just decided to tell her what she wanted to hear. "Really?" She blushed while smiling.

Water who kept on looking in my direction got a compliment from Ice but still looked at us with envy. "I wonder where's Cloud?" I looked around to check her presence. "You know, there is no point in..." Before Sun could finish what she wanted to say, Butterfly came back with two glasses of drinks. "I got you, your favorite!" Butterfly clamored. "Thanks." I accepted the glass. Both girls set at the same table with me. "So Lord Death, besides from just coming to see you, I also came to congratulate you!" She clapped her hands. "On what?" Sun immediately asked. "Well... Lord Death has become the new manager of this operation."

"What operation?"

"The mission," I replied then the Princess looked at Sun then said with a teasing tone. "See, Lord Death and I are very close unlike you, Sunny."

"Why didn't you tell me!?" Sun shouted at me and even hit the table. "I didn't see the need but I was going to tell all of you eventually," I replied. "Eventually?" She screamed at the top of her voice.

I turned to look at Water then at Death, who was chatting with Sun and the Princess. "Don't worry yourself Water. Come on, have some fun." I tried to cheer her up and splashed some water on her face. "Death has no interest in me, and when I tried so hard to impress him." She sounded low and sad. "There is still one seat left, go sit with him."

"But I wouldn't fit in, both Sun and the Princess are high in rank." She looked at them from far. After that, Knowledge and Cloud came to the pool. "That remaining seat is probably for Cloud." She said sadly.

I saw Cloud walking towards the pool then smiled. "What's wrong Lord Death?" Butterfly asked with a worried look but Sun just glanced at Cloud angrily. She looked like a kid while in her floral swim dress and double bun hairstyle. "Cloud!" Ice called her. "Come over here." He offered. "Sorry, but I don't feel like getting in the water right now," Cloud replied then set down at a table, alone, but Knowledge decided to join her.

"Hey, Cloud." Knowledge decided to sit down next to me while acting friendly. "What do you want?" I asked while looking at my phone. "Nothing..." She grinned. "But you know, you and Death seem close." She said with a suspicious look. "We're partners, so we do some things together."

"Maybe I'm wrong but, I heard you two were out today."

"Yeah."

"So, where did you go?"

"There and there."

"Oh. But... what were you doing?"

"Things that involve the mission."

"Like what?"

"Why are you asking me all these questions?"

"Cause I wanna investigate!"

"Then the person you should be talking to is Death." She looked disappointed when I said that but covered it with a smile. "Sure." She responded then stood up and left.

I kept on looking at Cloud without removing my eyes from her then Butterfly exclaimed. "Lord Death! Why do you keep on staring at that girl when I'm the only one who your eyes should be looking at."

"Really? Why are you so special?" I asked then Sun joined in the conversation. "Yeah? Why are you so special?"

"You stay out of this!" Butterfly shouted then Sun looked at her irritatedly. "I was just asking, why is it so hard to just answer the question."

"I... I have known Lord Death ever since we were children. He was mine back then..."

"When you were children, maybe he was yours but you need to tell the difference between the past and present."

"You..." Butterfly was furious but she didn't get a chance to talk back to Sun. "Yeah, that's right. Maybe he was yours but things have changed, the past doesn't count and right now all you are is just a friend, nothing more, nothing less."

"That's enough," I said then they both kept quiet. I stood up then left. "Lord... Death?"

I decided to go to the lady's room then realized the Princess staring at me with a deadly eye but I ignored it. When I was now washing my hands someone came in. "Hi, Cloud right?" The Princess asked with an innocent smile. "Yeah." After my response, she stopped smiling.

"You worthless piece of trash! How dare you steal my prince's attention from me?"

"What?"

"Death is mine, don't say I didn't warn you."
