Hailey's POV
"N University!" With a sweet smile, Hailey told the taxi driver the moment she entered the vehicle.
Since it was still early morning, they did not encounter heavy traffic on the road, and she arrived at school within less than twenty minutes.
She had already notified Nadia and Liza that she was now outside at the University getting off a cab.
The two girls had already reserved her a seat. She quickly got on the bus the moment she arrived in the assembly area. Mrs. Gomez just gestured her hand at her when she was walking toward the Prof to register her attendance.
She was running, thinking she only had five minutes left! Thus, Hailey heaved a sigh of relief after she took the reserved seat.
"Do you need to cook for him?" asked Liza the moment Hailey's bottom touched the seat. "He has billions to pay for his lunch, even to the most expensive restaurant in the world!"
Hailey explained why she was late on the phone earlier, but her friends reacted this way afterward. Then she only smiled charmingly as a response, pondering that it might be true to what Liza had remarked.
But if she's the one to ask what she would like, she would always prefer homemade food.
One of the many reasons she learned to cook is for her future family. She would love to prepare their favorite food as her grandma prepares hers.
The older woman is a fantastic chef who always makes her favorite dishes. Even during an event or occasions in the mansion, her grandma cooks one or two dishes, even if their chefs are all top masters. But everyone loves her cooking, especially her. Now she missed her grandma badly.
Recalling her childhood memories, Hailey didn't share her thoughts as her friends had no idea of her true status in life since she lives an ordinary life in this city. However, not until she signed the contract with Vince. She lives lavishly because Vince is generous.
Ah! Hailey shook her head. Lately, whatever she's doing, it always has this phrase, 'Ever since she signed the contract!'
After accompanying Vince to some business engagements, she never imagined it would be a big controversy. Of course, she already knew that Vince was married. But one thing is why she let him near her. It was because Vince was Eva's husband!
Thinking of how complicated her situation was, she heaved a silent sigh. She then pursed her lips to smile as she reasoned with her friends. "I want to ensure he will remember to eat on time as he has been busier lately."
"Oh, right! I heard from my cousin. The SHEN GROUP is aiming to win an International project!" Someone cut into their gossip.
"Hazel? What are you doing here? From what I know, you aren't part of this field training."
It surprised Nadia and Liza when Hazel appeared in front of them. They did not recognize her seated nearby because of her disguise.
"Jeez. So boring in my Math class. I'd rather wake up early and have fun!" she replied to her friends, taking off her hat and black coat.
"We will not play golf or have a party in M Resort." Liza mouthed at her.
"Yeah, I know! But I would miss your gossip if I didn't convince Mrs. Gomez!"
"Jeez. Are you planning to fail your Math?" Nadia commented, rolling her eyes.
Hazel looked at her and then smiled sweetly. Her eyes flickered while placing her arms around Nadia's shoulder. "You will help me pass, so I don't worry."
Stupefied, Nadia gaped at Hazel. "What am I? Your Math prof to mark perfect on your grades?"
"Nope! But you will accompany me to study before the exams!" Hazel had this massive smile on her face. Before Nadia could react, she added. "Your favorite skin care company will release a new product next week, and I already purchased a set for you!"
Hazel winked at Nadia, whose face was grinning massively.
"When should I come over to your house for a sleepover?"
"Hmm…" Hazel tilted her head to the side, pondering her engagements in the next few days. "You can come over by Saturday afternoon as the party is Friday evening. I will have my beauty sleep till noon!"
"Alright! Got it!" Nadia chirped happily.
Liza shakes her head as she listens to the conversation, while Hailey is amused watching how her friends interact with each other. These two get along well, despite their attitude differences. Even so, she really does like her new friends. Each has a unique character, and what brings them together is that they have the same passion they love to do.
Classes started around August, but the school already has charity activities and is looking for new volunteers since senior students have graduated. Thus, she signed up, and it was where she met Hazel, who was the one assigned to receive new volunteers.
And since Nadia is her neighbor, the girl always accompanies her, and both join.
Liza also signed up for the said activity, and Hailey later realized that Liza was her classmate in most of her classes.
Even outside school, they are active in a Non-government Charity works as volunteers that Hazel's family founded long ago. It is where their friendship blooms and solidifies.
"Anyway, back to where we left. I believe it's part of why Vince fell in love with you."
"Huh?" Hailey blinks a few times, trying to process Hazel's comments. "How can you say that?" We're only faking our relationship! She screamed inwardly, as there was no way she would tell her friends about it.
Hazel pointed out, "Men are prouder to be pampered by their queen. And cooking for him; it will make him feel loved and special."
"Okay…" Hailey smiled but chose not to explain why she prepared Vince's lunch.
She's doing it to prevent him from getting angry after she refused to be his date at his class reunion. Besides, it was the first time she declined to accompany him.
Lately, she discovered she could coax Vince by making him lunch as a peace offering. So it was now her weapon! But she wonders if it will always work.
Finally, the two school buses left N University and headed to M Resort Club.
The girls continue chatting further. Hailey was drinking water from her bottled water when Hazel asked her a scandalous question out of the blue. Every head inside that bus turned in their direction. The four of them were seated at the back of the bus. And they were loud enough to be heard by almost all of their classmates, including Mrs. Gomez.
Hailey was coughing hard. She struggled to clear her throat as the water choked her after Hazel asked shocking questions.
'What with this girl!?' She groaned inwardly. Hazel could choose the time to throw such a question, but she ensured to ask her when she was drinking water. She purses her lips with an awkward smile and urges Hazel to repeat her question. "Come again?"
"I'm asking if Vince was good in bed!?"
Hailey remained speechless. How to counter this question!? Everyone is staring at her with curiosity in their eyes. They were glimmering!
'Dammit, Hazel! You guys know how to murder me!' She screamed inwardly.
Liza and Nadia glared at Hazel. On the one hand, they were curious too! However, they believe it's not something to ask around in public.
"Why do you have to ask Hailey about that out of the blue?" Liza blurted out.
"What? I'm just curious." Hazel reasoned out, sniggering.
Then, Nadia chimed in. She snapped at Hazel. "And why are you curious? It was Hailey's privacy!"
"What? I'm just curious that until now, Hailey hasn't gotten pregnant."
Hailey fell her jaw on the road. 'What is this girl talking about!?'
She was bathing in sweat. Every pair of eyes on that school bus curiously looks in her direction.
'What the heck!?'
Why is everyone too interested in Vince's life!?
