What Do You Think Of My Brother?

Catherine Sage was sitting alone in her office while she was talking to Emery on the phone. When she heard what Emery just said, she raised a brow and slowly rose from her seat.

"What do you mean, Emery?" She asked, feeling a bit anxious. "Are you alone?"

Emery Hayes who was standing on one corner of some street narrowed her eyes and nodded despite being on the phone. "Yes," she muttered in a low voice.

She was still so out of her mind to think what effect her words would have on the one who was on the other line.

Catherine Sage recalled how Jason Hayes told her that Emery had amnesia and she quickly thought of what to do. "Emery, can you look around your surroundings and tell me what you see? That way, I will be able to guess and find you."

The mindless Emery did whatever Catherine requested without even thinking much. "There is a huge mall on my right," she muttered. "It's MK Shopping Mall."

As someone who was born and grew up in Naviles, Catherine didn't even need much thinking to recall where the mall in question was located. "Alright. Stay there and don't go anywhere. I will come and get you."

There was no response and though it was less than three seconds, the usually composed Catherine Sage already grew impatient. "Emery, do you hear me?"

This time, she finally got a response from Emery and she heaved a sigh of relief.

"Yes. I will wait."

Catherine Sage promptly put down her phone. Losing no time, she grabbed her bag and walked out of her office where she was immediately approached by her assistant who also served as her bodyguard.

"Is there a problem, ma'am?" Jayce Wright promptly asked Catherine who appeared quite anxious.

"I have to go somewhere," Catherine Sage replied. "I don't have time to explain, Jayce. Give me my car keys and take care of my schedule for me."

The assistant raised a brow as he knew that the CEO was never the type to do this. She always prioritize her work over anything else, including the sport that she loved so much - Judo.

If there was something or someone whom she prioritize over her work, it must be her father, Chairman Richard Sage.

"Hurry up, Jayce. I don't have time." Catherine's voice snapped Jayce out of his thoughts and he quickly handed her the car keys. "Then I will trust you with my work. I don't think I'll come back today."

"I understand."

With that, Catherine Sage left the building of Sage Security in a hurry.

Like Catherine told her, Emery didn't move away and waited for Catherine in one corner of the buzzy street. Now that she was slowly back to her sense, she felt the pain in her legs and felt the desire to sit down. She glanced around and when she noticed the small store on her left, she walked there and sat on top of the wall whose height was around her thigh level.

Emery quietly narrowed her eyes at the floor before she took out her phone and blankly stared at it. It was almost 1 in the afternoon but she already felt so exhausted. It must be because it had been so long since she walked that much. Besides, it was too sunny that the sun drained her energy and even made her feel dizzy.

All these were a reminder of how weak she still was.

As she quietly sat there alone with her mind pretty blank, time passed by slowly. By the time Catherine showed up, it had been half an hour since they talked on the phone.

When Emery looked up at Catherine Sage who was standing before her, she noticed the concern and anxiety on her face. Nevertheless, she still forced a little smile.

"Miss Sage."

Though Emery appeared quite unwell, Catherine Sage let out a breath of relief; feeling thankful that she finally found her. Then she sat beside her and turned to her. "What are you doing here?" She asked. Her voice was very calm in contrast to her concerned expression.

"I don't know," Emery Hayes muttered. "I kept on walking and got myself here somehow." She smiled and added, "I don't expect you to come here, Miss Sage. Aren't you busy?"

"How could I sit still when you don't even know where you are? You had me worried." Catherine's voice was pretty blunt and it made Emery smile once again.

"You're so kind," she remarked and asked, "Do you worried about me because of my brother?"

Catherine Sage remained quiet for a while and even when she spoke up, she didn't answer Emery's question. "Come. I will take you home." She stood up and glanced down at Emery, waiting for her to do the same.

Though Emery let a few seconds pass, she eventually stood up and followed Catherine Sage. Then they both got inside the car and left for her family's mansion.

It was around two in the afternoon and Emery was sitting on her bed inside her room. It had been a few minutes since she got home but Catherine Sage was still with her, sitting on the chair next to her bed.

"Are you sure that you don't have to take medicine? You look so pale that I feel like you can pass out any minute."

Emery shook her head at Catherine's concerned words. "It's been so long since I walked that much and the sun was pretty strong today. That's why. I'll be fine after a good rest." She slightly smiled and continued, "I'm sorry for troubling you today. I will surely return the favor later."

"You don't trouble me," Catherine calmly said to her. "Instead, I'm glad that I call you at the right time. What if you pass out on the road? Your brother will be worried to death."

Catherine avoided her question earlier but judging from what she heard just now, Emery was convinced that this woman really cared for her brother. It must also be the reason why she worried so much about her though they had only met once before. And... though she knew that her brother won't be pleased if she said what she had on mind right now, she gave in to the urge.

"Can I ask you a question, Miss Sage?" She said and before Catherine could even respond, she asked, "What do you think of my brother?"
