I Wish To See You

Jason Hayes's mind went back to all the years he used to watch Catherine Sage from a distance. The happiness and pain he felt along with his feelings that were only getting stronger... he had never once thought that this day would come.

The day when Catherine Sage sat right before him and asked him if he liked her.

The truth was... he didn't just like her; he loved her. Those years were enough for him to know that he loved the woman sitting opposite him.

Nevertheless, when he saw how Catherine was staring at him intently, waiting for an answer; the fear that was getting stronger since two weeks ago was back.

Maybe because he put her so much above him, he was convinced that his confession won't be welcomed. And after years, coping with rejection will be so hard but...

He felt hesitant to lie to her and somehow, the desire to tell her the truth slowly crumpled the fear he was feeling.

After much thought, Jason Hayes finally nodded. "I've always liked you, Miss Sage." He paused and continued, "I never thought that you will find out this way. Don't let it burden you though. I don't want to be the one making you feel that way."

He flashed a calm smile and continued eating again. He didn't even know why he said those words. Maybe he was still too afraid of a straight rejection.

At that time, Jason didn't notice because he didn't look but Catherine seemed to be having something to say. However, when she noticed how Jason couldn't even bring himself to look at her anymore, she changed her mind and slowly continued eating too.

The rest of the dinner passed in silence and when it was over, the two found themselves standing before the restaurant where they just dined. While Jason was wondering what to do, Catherine turned in his direction.

"I had fun tonight, Mr. Hayes. I hope to see you soon again." She offered him a small yet warm smile, putting Jason in a daze.

After his confession and her silence, she hoped to see him soon again?

What was this?

Despite feeling perplexed, he managed to form a little smile that didn't appear too unconvincing. "I had fun too, Miss Sage. I hope you go home safely."

"You too, Mr. Hayes," Catherine muttered and then got inside her car which was several steps away. She drove her car which the Vice-Chairman stared at until it was out of his sight.

Now, Jason Hayes was worried.

How was she supposed to face her now?

After having dinner alone, Emery was in her room, studying the topics she learned at the university during the day. However, despite her best efforts, she was struggling.

It was so hard with her wiped-out memory!

"I have to ask Jason to find a tutor for me," she muttered to herself while going through the pages that made no sense to her. Then with a heavy sigh, she closed her books.

It was just a waste of time.

Emery walked towards her bed and was about to lay down when her phone went off. She looked at the caller ID and instantly felt hesitant to pick up the call. Nevertheless, she did pick up after thinking twice.

"Hello."

She waited but there was no response from the other line and Emery found it strange.

"Marcus, are you there?"

She waited again and when her patience was about to run dry, she finally heard his voice.

"Emery."

His voice was low and it didn't sound normal. These were enough to alert Emery Hayes.

"Are you drunk?" She asked; the possibility put her in a daze.

That arranged Marcus Pierre got himself drunk?

"No," Marcus Pierre lazily responded from the other line and it only became proof of her suspicion for Emery. She can't help but sigh.

What happened?

"I don't believe you," she replied in a pretty blunt tone. "Why are you calling me?"

Her words were followed by silence and Emery wondered if Marcus was thinking of how to answer her.

"I don't know," Marcus Pierre muttered. "Maybe because I think of you."

Emery recalled the 'harsh' things she said to her fiance while they were at the university today. He wasn't drinking because of that, right?

"Where are you?" She asked after a while. Was he at home?

"Some bar."

She frowned at his response. They had a bar in their huge mansion. Why didn't he just drink there?

"Alone?"

"Yeah."

Wasn't he too drunk to go home alone? Will he even be able to drive?

She hated how worried she was, despite how she made up her mind to keep the distance between them.

"Tell me the address," Emery finally said; inwardly telling herself that this would be the last time.

"Will you come?" Marcus's voice was somewhere between doubt and surprisement and it made Emery wonder what she was like in his eyes.

Did he see her as some cold-hearted being who would just ignore him while he was in a bar, getting himself drunk and alone?

"Don't you want me to?" She asked him back with a hint of displeasure in her tone.

"I wish to see you," Marcus Pierre promptly said and according to Emery Hayes, it was a blabbering. A drunk talk.

Can't he say that while he was being sober?

Once Marcus told her the name of the bar, Emery told him to stay put and ended the call. Then she quickly got changed and went downstairs where she was instantly greeted by the butler, Mr. Heath.

"Are you going somewhere, Miss Hayes?" The butler asked her, maintaining a formal tone and demeanor like always.

"It seems like Marcus get himself drunk in some bar. I need to go and get him," Emery promptly replied and tried to storm out, but...

"I will make arrangement for you, Miss Hayes. It's late and if you go out alone at this hour, your father and brother will be worried," Mr. Heath suggested.

Emery Hayes gave a brief thought and decided that the butler had a point. So, she nodded and Mr. Heath promptly worked on it. In less than five minutes, she left her family mansion in a car with two bodyguards.....
