Third POV
Rei turns on the TV to check how is everything going on outside.
"The government has taken emergency action. But, the politicians not sure about JSDF Operation. So far it is estimated that there were already 10,000 victims in Saitama Prefecture. The government have stated that this incident-"
The News reporter who was doing her job was surprised by a gunshot.
The cameraman highlight the Police who look gathered at one spot.
"A shot! The Police just release a shot! Just what are they are shooting at!"
They see The Police shot two corpses inside the body bags that start to rise.
The camera fall and the screen became blurred, a notification that says please wait a moment appear not long after that.
The screen changes again and shows a report from inside the studio.
"There has been a serious problem. From now on, we are going to give a live report from the Studio."
"It seems the situation outside has become really dangerous. We recommend you to stay inside and don't go outside. For now, that's the only thing we can report live from the studio until the situation became safe."
Hearing this Takashi gets angry and hits the table with his fist.
Rin doesn't blame him, after all, if he didn't hug Saya he will destroy a room or two to vent his anger.
"That's it? Why didn't tell us anything?!"
"They don't want to start a panic." Saya who finally calms answer Takashi.
"Even until now?" This Rei asks.
"Quite the opposite right now is the most important. Fear is the source of chaos and later destruction happens." She explains to Rei.
"No, the politician is busy saving their ass. They want to make sure they are already in a safe area before those walking dead became too many to handle."
Rin knows exactly that most of the government across the globe are gathering import figure.
They foolishly believe by using Nuclear warhead the problem will be solved. They don't take into account the possibilities of mutation.
(AN: I don't say all politicians in the world are jerks, but this is what happens in this fanfiction okay.)
"Impossible, in a blink of eyes they have spread across the world." Takashi let out his surprise.
"But this morning when I browsing the internet this morning, everything is still normal." Kohta adds his mind.
"Unbelievable. Only in several hours, the world becomes like this." Rei follows behind.
"Hey, right? There must be a safe place. I am sure everything will return to normal-" She starts to be delusional and try to lean back on Rin, but he catches both of her shoulders.
"Open your eyes Rei, look around you. That is impossible." He says to her while shaking her body.
"You don't need to say something like that, right?" Takashi asks Rin.
"I hate to say this, but Okumura is right, this is pandemic. What else can we do!"
"Pandemic?" Shizuka mumbles loudly.
"It's a plague that spread all over the world. Black Death that happens in the 14th century is the best example. That time, ⅓ of Europe population was killed." Rin start gives them an explanation.
"But right now the dead move and attacking." He continues.
"So you mean, there is no way to stop it?" Ask about Rin words.
"But, outside is really hot, maybe their flesh will start to rotten and won't be able to walk anymore." Shizuka gives her theory.
Saeko turns at her and asks.
"How long it need to happen?"
"In Summer corpse need 20 days to change into bones. In Winter it will take several months. Even though, if we can go home-"
Shizuka was starting to giving them hope, but Rin once again cut in.
"How we can know they rotten or not."
"What do you mean?" Komuro asks him with a questioning look.
"They still able to move even with severe wounds and have massive strength, I doubt normal corpse can do that."
As if it wasn't enough Rin at more scary information to them.
"Also I notice something on my way here."
"What... is it..." Saya is the bravest to ask.
"I don't smell anything stink."
No one seems to understand his words.
Rin sigh and explain to them why that is bad.
"How can we don't smell anything after this School filled by corpses."
They finally realize it.
If it rotten than why they don't smell it?
Because it doesn't rotten.
After death corpse will start to be decomposed by insects and bacteria.
Not long after that, cadaverine and putrescine compounds come out of the corpse as a result of bacterial activity and cause a foul odor.
"After we check our family later, we need to find shelter." Saeko suggests them.
"More importantly, if we act alone, we won't survive. Team. We need Team Work."
Saeko throws an extra bokuto that she carries with her self to Rin, Yuuki, and Taniuchi get something from the tools that Saya carry from the Carpentry Room while the rest check their own weapon/ equipment.
"We better save those who still survive."
"Got it Saeko-senpai."
Rin wants to reject Saeko's idea since he wants to leave Takuzo and Shido groups, but he doesn't want to think he turn into emo.
'And I call my self selfish and hedonist.' Rin regrets his introduction that day.
"How can we get out of here?" Rei asks her group.
"The main gate is the closest to the parking lot." Saya answers her.
Everyone looks at Rin, as if they wait for his approval, while Rin raises his eyebrows at them.
Realize they unofficially chose him as the leader makes him annoyed.
Sadly they need to get out of the School asap.
"Let's go!'
Kohta takes the front, opening a path for them using his gun, Saya, Shizuka, Yuuki, and Taniuchi at the rear end while Rin, Saeko, Takashi, Rei, and Hisashi between them.
"Avoid fighting as much as you can unless you need to. We need to save stamina and avoid getting surrounded." Rin orders them.
"They only react to sound. Also, they are really strong. If you get caught, it will be hard to break free and you will be eaten." Saya shares her knowledge with those who don't join her little experiment before.
"Be careful..."
Suddenly they hear a girl scream.
They look down at the stairs and found a group of five students cornered by a large group of zombies.
Like a pro, he is Kohta headshot a zombie with the face of veteran Sniper looking at a bunch of stupid noobs that make the team killed.
"Nice shot!" Rin praise for Kohta shot.
Kohta smiles at Rin and gives him a thumbs up.
Everyone came down, killing zombies along the way.
"Thank you." One of the group members expresses their gratitude.
"Lower your voice." Saeko reminds them.
"Does any of you being bitten or scratched even a little?" Rin interrogates them with a serious face.
"Eh... None." The one who says thank you to them answers him.
"They all look fine." Rei gives her opinion about the group.
Rin doesn't say anything and checks them with the All-seeing eyes of god only to find nothing.
He doesn't care how they look, a scratch is enough to make him kill someone on the spot.
Rin sigh again before asking Takuzo's group to join them in escaping from the School.
"We want to get out of here. Want to tag along?"
"Ye-yes."
'I will regret this later, am I?'
Rin thinks about what they suppose to do at Rika's house. With number this large there won't be enough room for everyone in the jeep to escape later.
They might join Shido's group later or chose to stay somewhere. After that, they are not his problem.
But what if they want to stay with them?
While that thinking about this Rin enjoys the beautiful noon sky with Cherry Blossom petals carried by the wind of spring.
Right now he isn't sure if he should glad the corpses aren't rotten or not.
