What is this shit?
I followed behind Alistair while looking down at the clothes Snowball reluctantly brought back.
The oversized tunic obviously belonged to Alistair, his smell embedded in every stitching. The leather pants were extremely tight, sticking to every possible curve and stopped mid-calf. Alistair insisted on helping me with my breast band and was very careful not to touch my back as he tied it off.
I stopped and just stared at his back. When he turned around I was standing, legs apart and my arms sticking out from my sides. Arching a brow, Alistair cracked a mischievous grin as he placed his hands behind his head.
THAT.
That right there is infuriating. It's even more annoying that he looks good doing it.
"What," he teased.
"Why am I dressed like this? I look like I'm— I don't even know," I questioned with a hand now on my hip.
Not changing his position, he just chuckled then shrugged, "you look comfortable to me, poppet and besides, we don't need the men ogling you. Because, well you know, we are walking into a wolves' den."
I huffed, my foot tapping the ground as I pointed at him, "What does it matter if they look? I smell like you."
I pretend I don't like his smell that's now overwhelming my senses, making it hard to think.
At that moment though, the smirk that Alistair had plastered on his face dropped and was replaced with a straight line as he walked over to me, keeping a couple of feet between us.
"I don't want men touching and looking at what's not theirs to do so with," he said, his voice low leaving really no room for discussion but I didn't care.
"If I recall correctly, I don't belong to anyone, so I don't care what people do, honestly," I chided, testing the thin line between boundaries and possible punishment.
"I'm not yours either so stop gawking at me all the time."
There it is.
He began to stalk towards me, his eyes now glowing gold until I was backed up against a well, my rump basically sitting on it's edge.
Once I was cornered, Alistair stood above me causing my breath to hitch as he placed both of his hands on the stone on either side of me.
Great. Not this again.
He stared directly at me causing me to tilt my head back completely, exposing my neck.
Something about this position, Alistair's proximity and the way he was staring at me caused my core to heat up forcing me to squeeze my thighs together, the leather of my pants noisily protesting against my actions.
Leaning in closer, his breath grazed the shell of my ear causing me to shiver, my current problem getting ever so worse.
"Watch it, Noir," Alistair paused as he moved from my ear to my jaw then down to the nape of my neck where, hopefully, one day I'll bear a mark.
"Because in due time, you will be mine," he stated, his voice husky as his tongue quickly licked the sensitive flesh causing me to moan, much against my wishes.
Alistair's body visibly tensed before standing up, looking at me with that infuriating grin.
This asshole.
I continued to watch him as I crossed my arms and after a moment, his nostrils flared, his eyes flickering from deep honey to bright gold then black and back again, his grin becoming more sinister.
Is that even possible?
Turning on his heels, Alistair looked over his shoulder still grinning.
"You smell delicious, Noir," he spoke then looked away, motioning for me to follow.
I just sat there, slack jawed at what just happened and what he just said.
What in the hell was that?
"Like I have said before, you really are stupid. I'm starting to think there is no hope for you. Rune and I have been making fun of you for the past hour," River piped in, dropping her unwanted two-sovereigns.
Hmph.
I glared at the image of her laying lazily on her side, staring at me with a blank expression.
"You really are frustrating. If you know something, speak up, damn it," I bitched, but all she did was roll her eyes.
"If you haven't figured it out by now, you will definitely figure it out later. I can't wait when the day comes," with this, she rolled over exposing her backside to me.
This bitch.
Snapping back to reality, I notice Alistair is standing in front of me, arms crossed and a raised brow.
"What the hell are you looking at," I ask, giving him a blank stare.
Smiling, he turns again.
"How's River? That's quite the wolf you got there. Very huh," he paused thinking of the right word.
"Outspoken and strong," grinning, he looks back at me. "And beautiful, much like yourself."
With this compliment, River purred in approval and I found myself embarrassed.
"Come on, Noir, it's almost dawn."
With this, I ran up alongside him and followed him into the village
