Selection day astounding the audience.

Early in the morning yet the hustle and bustle of servants filled the entire manor and the entire capital as today was finally the start of selection.

Shops and food stalls has already opened, filling the air with various food aroma. People actively in line waiting for their turn. Tea shops buzzing with sound with excited voices of people.

Battle arena of capital have been grandly prepared from top to below. Guards geared up and upright outside the gates entrance which had yet to be opened. People had lined up like a snake waiting for to enter.

It was after five years and to top it off being in presence of the lord of medicine valleys first appearance to the world outside, people were brimming with excitement and curiosity.

Discussing how the lord would look like and what kind of exams were prepared. Amidst their discussion slowly the gates opened and like row of ants people started to enter the arena.

Rows of seats in circular and stairs shape arrangement had been prepared, with a eye catching platform. In the middle where normally battles were held was now had 25 of one person table neatly lined up facing each other, on each side.

With two chairs and tea table at each end of the row.

Soon the entire place was filled with people, leaving only the platform empty. All nobles and ministers were seated below the platform waiting for the royal family and the people of medicine valley.

After half an hour, silencing the crowd entered emperor and Yusheng side by side followed by their entrouge. The crowds eyes were glued to that small figure. Unknowingly her beauty and aura had magneted the entire crowds attention.

Steps like walking on the cloud, posture upright, aura like of an immortal and beauty of a rare jade.

Sao Tsing Niang or also know as goddess of clouds would be the perfect description for Yusheng.

All the head's turned till they have reached that eye catching platform. After they were seated the entire arena shook from the salutation given to the ones in the platform. Murmurs of so young, so beautiful and all sorts of compliments was in the air which made many of the ladies resulting in twisting and tearing of their hanky's, and cursing internally yet still gentle and well behaved on the surface.

As it was the most anticipated open selection, almost all of the people of capital was present. Including the noble consort who was rebuffed by Yusheng. Though the seatings were far consort mu still felt a sense of accomplishment of being able to retain the seat in today's event.

Yusheng without even turning her head could feel and knew the pointed look dripping with jealously, envy and hatred given by Zhou Xuan age 11 eldest daughter from main wife of prime minister.

Being pampered and praised by the entire capital as the most beautiful, graceful and talented girl in the entire capital, she felt threatened and reconciled seeing Yusheng. Hate dripping from her every pores specially when seeing how her beloved brother Hui was looking at her.

Below the arena all 50 students lined up in row gave their salutation and stood upright. Then from above first elder explained the rules with his powerful voice.

Welcome to the selection held by the Medicine valley. Congratulation to all the disciples for being able to reach this far. Starting today till the months end we will held 4 four exams in each week difference. Among you all the first top ten would be taken by medicine valley as the outer disciples while the other 10 will be taken by our physician association as disciples. Hope you for the best and fair competition.

Similarly second elder started his speech.. the exams this time has been directed by the medicine valley itself. The examiners would also be the teachers from medicine valley. Each exam would be 4 hours duration and the subject of exam would only be declared on the day of the exam itself.

Today's exam will be the sorting of herbs it's properties and effects. You will be given 100 herbs to sort out its properties, merits and demrites on the written form. The time limit two hours. Afterward you will be given 100 pills of which you have to list out the herbs used, it's proportion and the disease it is meant to subside also in written form.... explained third elder.

All kinds of buzzing was on the crowd as the test seemed really tough. Among the 50, 20 of the students had already felt their loss as some had bribed through their way.

Finally that small goddess like figure came forward and with a voice more powerful than of first elder with a hint of gentleness spoke" may the most deserving win... start" waving her sleeve she sat back.

Everyone was in awe as how that figure was small yet so powerful, but soon they came from their daze as two teachers from the valley stood before the the chair at each end. Soon the elders of association came with trays with paper, ink, brushes and herbs came and placed on each table neatly.
