8- Nicolas Flamel

Me and Hermione were sat in the gryffindor common room discussing what we thought the trapdoor led to.

"I don't know but it's obviously something important if they're keeping something like that to guard it." Hermione quietly whispered to me. I was about to start talking when Harry and Ron ran into the common room shouting our names. They grabbed our arms and pulled us into their dormitory. When we were out of sight and no one was around Harry blurted out.

"Snapes after whatever is being guarded, we heard him talk to professor Quirrell about the dog and how he to get past it, Snape said to Quirrell something about how he wondered where Quirrell's loyalty lie. We didn't know what to do so we just ran straight here."

It was nearly Christmas break so we couldn't really do anything about it now, but we did what we could do, talk to Hagrid and see if he knew anything about it.

We arrived at Hagrids and he let us straight in. It was incredibly hot in there but we decided not to say anything about it. We were talking normally but I desperately wanted to know about the three headed dog so I spoke up over the silence.

"Hagrid, why is there a three headed dog on the third floor standing over a trapdoor and what does it lead to."

"Fluffy, how do you know about Fluffy." Hagrid spoke giving me a concerned look

"Fluffy, that thing has a name." Ron laughed

"Of course he does he's mine, and anyway what is beneath that trapdoor is strictly between Professor Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel."

"Nicolas Flamel?" Hermione questions

"I should not have said that, I should not have said that" Hagrid paced around the room.

We all decided to run out of the hut and straight back to the Gryffindor common room deciding to try and find as much out as we can about Nicolas Flamel is.

-time span- last day of Christmas term-

"I can't believe you're leaving today, it's so not fair." I mumbled as I hugged Hermione.

"It won't be too long before I see you again, and plus whilst I'm gone you can help Harry and Ron look for information on Nicolas Flamel, let's just say they can't do it by themselves. Plus In a week it's Christmas and then you'll get to open my present."

I sighed as I helped Hermione pack her last things into her trunk. We walked in the common room to all say goodbye to eachother. I was upset I wasn't going home this Christmas, I really missed my mother and I can't believe she would just go on holiday when I can finally come home now I have to stay at hogwarts from Christmas, which isn't that bad as I'll have Harry and Ron. But still I wish I could see my mother. It's always just been my mother and I but I wish I could know my father. We could've been a real family and I would've known about the Wizarding world long before I did. Anyway I can't change the past. But maybe one day I will meet my father. I had realised I had zoned out when I felt Hermione shaking me.

"Are you ok, you looked pretty upset."

"Yeah just thinking." I said with a small smile on my face to hide that I was upset.

"Anyway the train is leaving soon Hermione you should probably get going, you don't wanna miss it" harry added.

I got up and said goodbye to Hermione and gave her a tight hug. Great, my best friend is gone for 4 weeks. Not that I'm counting
