"'In the darkness, comes light. If you go to it and see me, it's too late.' Those were the words of our champion in his final battle. But this is not his story. Night, you are the last of your kind. When I believed in there being peace, I fell. I thought we were able to keep the peace. Until… they came and attacked."
-------------------
Convactus, my home, was burned down many eons ago, by the human army known as Purist Hammer. Since then, I've carried those words with me throughout all of my travels as an assassin. My next target was in the city of Sarvos, where a human king lives. Some random rich guy thought he could run the black market, and he has a huge bounty. Kill him, and continue on. "He'll probably be in a back alley, trying to make a deal go down," I said softly to myself, "it seems to fit this guy's face." I walked until the evening where I had walked into a village with an in. "I'm a Dragokin, but I gotta act human. Otherwise they kill me on the spot," I thought.
I walked in, and the teenager at the counter greeted me. "What kind of room would you like, mister?", she asked with a bit of perkiness to her. "A room with lots of space for the night. How much?"
"That depends, do you want me with the room?", she replied back. By the Dragon Gods, not this kind again. Human women seem to go nuts for me. It's like a curse that won't dissipate. I shook my head, in which I got a snarky response, "5 silvanes. You look like my kind of guy, you sure you don't want my services?"
"I don't. You wouldn't like what you see, anyways," I said coldly. After that, I headed to my room.
There once was six kinds of Dragokins. The Right Wing of Flames, capable of controlling lava. The Left Wing of Ice, with its ability of the cold. The Talon of Dunes, they were one with the earth. Next, is the Horn of Knowledge, they could pass down wisdom from our ancestors by calling upon them, using their bodies as vessels. Then, there's the Eyes of the Future's Past could predict the battle movements of their enemies, making them great warriors. At the end of that list is my kind, the Tail of the Stars. They are as dark as the night sky, making them amazing assassins. We could learn to use the other tribes' power and use it freely. But I was a rebellious hatchling back then and sold my soul for more power and I became an experiment for demons. It was an accident that could never be fixed.
"Why was I left alive?" I thought out loud. I put my weapons by the bed and stretched out my wings and tail. "At least they couldn't see these, I would've been dead long ago," I chuckled. My wings were wrapped around me like a cloak and it hid my face, considering that my black scales covered a huge portion of my face. Before I went to sleep, I checked my surroundings to make sure I was in the clear.
My dream was the same nightmare. A cage was around me, one I couldn't escape from. It was dark, and smelled of the dead. Suddenly, out of the darkness came a river of needles. Poking and prodding, stabbing me through old marks and new spots. All I could do was scream in agony and pain. But just before I pass out in the dream, I would see Rose, my only friend, get crushed by a hammer, left for dead.
When I woke up the next morning, I was sweating and tears were rolling down my face. I look over and see a freshly made bath for me with a note. "Saw what you really are, cutie. Made you a bath. Your secret's safe with me. -V" I burned the note, got my stuff, and rushed out the room.
"Dang it! Why did she come in while I was sleeping?!" I thought, outraged by the lack of privacy. When I got to the front desk, V was dismissing another customer when I grabbed her arm, and yanked her to my room. "What are you doing?", she yelled as I pulled her up the stairs, "I will call the guards!"
"What did you see?" I asked abruptly.
"What?" she asked.
"What did you see of me?" I repeated.
"Why do you want to know?" she responded.
"Answer the question." By now I wanted to curse in dragokins tongue.
"I saw your wings and tail. They were hanging out the blanket. Now will you let me go?" I released her arm and clenched my fist.
"I won't tell, I promise," V said softly, "mainly because I don't know what you are. My parents won't believe me if I told them I saw a monster, anyways."
"Are you sure? I heard strange things happen here," I said, my curiosity peaked. V started to tremble. "Well, there has been rumors of a dragon person in the city. The say she has green eyes. In fact, she looked like you..." And with that bit of information, I was on my way.
