I could hear the head priestess walking towards Jlen with even steps, she avoided looking at me for some reason. Maybe it is some kind of protocol in the temple? I don't doubt a world with magic like this one can inflict damage on you just by looking at something.

She approached Jlen and suddenly my world grew completely silent, I couldn't hear anything anymore, and my only comfort was the sonar-like effect my [Sense] proportioned. I think this was some kind of magic to isolate me or something, calling the head priestess must be something only done in emergencies, and emergencies normally mean something very bad is happening or going to happen, so being "quarantined" like this must be some kind of standard procedure.

People here are way more advanced in some aspects than I expected, but I guess we could blame magic for this, as while they may not have developed technologically past the middle ages, their magic can more than make up for a lot of things. My guess is due to the world being magical the development tilted more towards magic than technology, why create a grenade when a [Fireball] spell is more than enough?

Soon enough I started hearing footsteps, those sounded like the head priestess so she either lifted the isolation spell, or she entered its range, and considering I still can't hear anything more than her footsteps I bet it's the latter.

"What is your name?", asked the head priestess in a calm voice, like a lot of doctors she is maybe trying to talk to me while she conducts her examination, it's good because it distracts the patient and makes them relax more, making the job of the doctor relatively easier.

"It is Yang Jin."

"How old are you?", she asks while she approaches me, quickly I heard a soft churning in the air that think must be from her magic, she is probably casting a spell. She didn't react like everyone towards my scars and appearance, but considering that she is old she must have seen some pretty messed up things in the "hospital" part of the temple.

"Well, that is kind of debatable... But I guess 17? or something close to that?", The topic of my age is something strange and debatable, not only I am in my second life, I have theoretically millions and millions of years worth of memories in my head right now, just the fact that I am not insane is a miracle.

The head priestess stopped for a moment, if I could see I would have noticed her slightly arched eyebrows inf confusion and some amusement. Soon the low churning of what I think is magic stopped, the head priestess took a deep breath and said towards Jlen; "Jlen you made the right decision to call me here, his case is slightly special and I don't think you have the skill to even [Diagnose] him."."

A slight silence, and then I heard the door opening and closing. It appears the priestess lifted the spell, or she simply expanded it.

"My name is Helen, and I am the head priestess of Mara. I am currently one of the best healers in Hammerfell. And I some good and bad news.", there was a slight pause as if Helen wanted to let the tension sink in then she continued; "The good news is that I can probably heal some of those scars, but the bad news is that something like that is way-".

A pause, she suddenly stopped talking. And before I could say anything I felt it, it was a presence that radiated pure power... it felt utterly otherworldly, utterly Divine. But it's like the presence was just here briefly, like it just flickered for but an instant, and then went away. It was almost like it was trying to be sneaky? But the presence was too motherly to loving for it to be someone like Nocturnal... Maybe it was Mara? but why would-

"By Mara's mercy... She spoke to me...", Helen said out loud, so Mara herself descended and sent a message to Helen. In just that instant? well, she is an Aedra so I suppose something like giving long messages in less than a heartbeat must be very easy.

"Haah, you are in luck Jin. To even have the chance of healing your scars you would need both an extremely expensive potion brewed by a Master in [Alchemy] and someone proficient enough in [Restoration] to rival me. Technically your simple check-up doesn't cover something like that, but Mara herself asked for me to heal you.", she said in a matter tone, I could also hear some elation in her voice, probably due to the fact she just received a message from Mara herself.

Slightly dubious from the sudden generosity I ask; "So what is the price? there is no free lunch in the world.".

Helen nodded appreciatively almost as if she approved of such reasoning; "Indeed. The payment is just one favor. When the time comes Lady Mara herself will contact you and ask for the favor.".

I weighed my options, on one side I will get rid of these scars, on the other, I will need to do a favor for a god. And while Mara doesn't strike me as some kind of evil god, Gods are still technically alien beings to us mortals, so something that is completely okay to her can be something I completely disagree with... hmm... I think I will agree, but just because she is Mara and considered one of the most benevolent gods here.

"... I will accept.", the moment I said that I could briefly feel Mara's divine presence again, it was way briefer than the last time, but it served as a confirmation of our agreement.

"Good. The agreement is done. Now we must start your examination.".

"Wait... Didn't you already do that?", I asked slightly confused at this new prospect.

"Well, yes. But actually, no. As I said, yours is a special case. This means that the examination will need to be done way more thoughtfully.", the slightly confused look on my scarred face must've slipped out, because she quickly explained; "What I mean is that I would need to cast some spells that will be more invasive... Nothing that worrisome, but it will feel like a cool liquid traveling through your body, some patients describe it gives a great deal of discomfort too.".

I nodded accepting that an invasive spell must be necessary. I heard the low churn of magic being cast again, then the slight sound of a chest opening? after that I heard the sound of some kind of glass hitting the table. Maybe that is the potions she talked about?... And that sound... Did she just use [Deep Storage] spell? Wow...So some mods are a thing here. Nice to know.

"Hmm, anything I should know before I start? Any kind of special technique, or enchantment done to your skin. Anything really. Don't worry everything you said here is a secret, Mother Mara was especially adamant about that. Something about Akatosh being pissed.", she said in a tone that indicates confusion. Now I know why Mara was being sneaky earlier. And I know exactly why Akatosh is pissed, a [Dragon Break] just happened recently, and I am pretty sure if someone had broken me in innumerable alternative timelines I would be pissed too.

"Hmm, as you've noticed I am a cultivator."

"I noticed that, it would be impossible for a normal human to survive even a quarter of the injuries that caused your scars.", Helen said in a relatively deadpan tone as if she was saying something extremely obvious.

"Do you want to stop cycling my technique during the exam?".

"Hmm, it would definitely help. I can circumvent it, but it is just faster if you simply relax. Anything more?".

I simply nodded and continued; "My [Ki] is slightly special, it has Sun characteristics and it is extremely lethal to the undead.".

"Well, just be sure to stop circulating your technique and we won't have any more problems.", her tone was slightly curious, but she ended up being professional and didn't ask for more detail.

"Well, I am also a [Ripple] user.", I said a little sheepishly. I am starting to notice I have simply too many skills and advantages, and they are relatively all over the place. Guess I when I have some free time I should see if I can combine some of my skills, or improve them. Food for future thoughts.

"Hmm, that explains some of your tenacity. Someone who is both a [Ripple] user and a Cultivator is a tough sonovabitch to kill.", she said feeling even more curious about me.

"I guess I should also say what caused all these wounds on my body-", that got the attention of the priestess very quickly, anything capable of inflicting something like this, "-what caused them was my own ability, it's an ability that puts a lot of strain on my body, and one day I went even further beyond with it damaging my body beyond repair. In my mind, I had already accepted my death, already accept the end, but somehow after closing my eyes for what I thought was the last time, I woke up again in the desert, healed of all my wounds, but carrying all these scars.".

Helen seemed pretty engrossed in the tale, attentively listening to all my words, after I finished she *Sighed* out loud; "You own ability huh... *sigh* I won't pry into your secrets. Just don't kill yourself before repaying Mara will you?", she said in a very exasperated tone as if she couldn't believe in it herself.

"Now there are a bed five steps behind you, I want you to lay there and relax. The more relaxed you are the faster the examination will go.", I simply nodded and took five steps until my shin softly hit a wooden frame, crouching slightly I passed my hand and felt the bed covers. Without missing a bit I slowly laid in the bed, which surprisingly was big enough for my size, but considering the tall heights of Altmer and Nords, I am not surprised this world has bigger sizes.

Helen put her right hand on my chest, roughly where my heart is. Soon magic shimmered, and moved. If before her spell made low timid churns, now even someone with normal hearing could hear a loud sound of a glass breaking.

A wave of energy invaded my body, it was foreign and alien to my psyche and mind, my first thought was fighting and expulsing it, and I would easily be able to do so using my will and cultivation technique. But I was rational enough to stop the impulse.

The energy traveled through my body, using my veins as roads and my heart as a starting point. I felt like a pleasant and cool liquid was traveling inside of my veins, and arteries, then my nerves, my brain, my capillaries, everything really. Soemtimetimes the cool liquid would pass through a place and make my scars itch, sometimes it would pass through others and make me feel some chills. The worse was my spine, I especially felt a very deep child that made me involuntary tremble slightly, but I was able to control myself.

Right now Helen must know my body better than even myself, so why wasn't she blushing like an anime girl and screaming "pervert"? Well, someone like her must've seen more naked people than Dibella herself, so there is nothing new about my nude form. she is an extremely experienced healer for fucks sake, not an anime girl. Okay, that train of thought was just to distract me from the chilling sensation passing through my spine again.

If I am not mistaken something around an entire hour must've passed. I am just thankful Helen didn't try to pry my soul or something of the sort, she stayed true to her word and only concentrated on the physical aspect. A good healer indeed.

"Well... Damn... What the heck are you?", asked Helen exasperation and dumbfoundedness in her voice. But considering my body was changed by the [Divine Dan], I understand what she is trying to say.

"Well, I ate some kind of special medicine before when I was close to dying...".

"What the hell kind of medicine you ate... You can barely be considered human anymore... your body has so much [Ki] into it that you are close to a spirit medicine than a person.", her tone was still slightly stupefied but she was recovering quickly.

"The medicine was pretty good.".

"Pretty good is my wrinkly ass, something like that must've been a Divine medicine or something.", she took a deep breath as to simply try to forget it; "*Sigh* Whatever, that doesn't matter right now.".

"So how were the results?", I asked with a mix of hope and curiosity in my voice. If I could see I would have noticed a complicated expression on Helen's face.

"Well... You are one of the healthiest people I have ever seen in my entire existence. And I am counting [Ripple] users and Cultivators in it. Contrary to what someone would think of your scars you are completely healthy, there is literally nothing to heal on you besides your scar tissue.".

She takes another deep breath and continues; "Your physique is exemplary, something superior to even some cultivators above your level, your muscles are all correctly distributed and training none of them seems neglected, but some are slightly more developed than others, probably the one you use the most.".

On a serious then she continues; "You muscles are big and buff, and you have a good and strong muscle mass. But that can easily be attributed to good training and the [Ripple] nurturing your physique. [Ripple] users tend to develop muscles a lot easier than most people, cultivators are rather strange when it comes to that. their muscles are normally more succinct and compact. You were a [Ripple] user first and became a cultivator later right?".

I noded her question, which promptly made her continue; " You don't look malnourished or lacking nutrients, but I could see that you forced your body quite a lot recently. Less than a week in the desert I presume?".

Another nod of my head and she continued; " Your eyes... they are extremely special aren't they? They felt like a hyperdeveloped alien visual organ.", well she is not wrong, the first possessor of a derived version of the [Sharingan] was indeed an alien, so she is not wrong. I am just surprised they know what the heck an alien is.

"Your optic nerves, veins, anything related or connected to your eyes is way bigger, and hyperefficient even when I compare it with some of the ancient monsters I know. And the way they connect to your brain is even more special. We don't have that much time to go into details, but know that your brain is different, as if it has mutated to allow your eyes to work properly... that is the best way I can put it into words.".

She took a deep breath as if preparing to give me the bad news; "... But all that I said is irrelevant to the current you. Your eyes and your nerves are suffering rapid cell degradation. As if they had been burned and corroded multiple times for long periods of time... Right now it is almost like they are suffering from some kind of mutated pseudo cancer mixed with cell degradation. It's a miracle your visual system simply didn't collapse completely, but considering how alien and hyperdeveloped it is I guess it is possible. Unfortunately, that is something beyond anything I could safely imagine. unfortunately, your eyes will be impossible to heal, and nothing short of Divine interference can change it.".

I took a deep breath, I already expected it to be impossible, but I still maintained a sliver of hope it could be healed at least for a bit. I am not even surprised she knows about cells, cancer, and things of the sort, if Divayth Fyr can make gender-bent clones of himself I bet she would know something as simple as the cell. But cell degradation and pseudo cancer... Damn... How transplanting the eyes of my brother is supposed to cure something like that? I don't know, but Narutoverse is pretty weird sometimes.

Seeing I calmed myself, Helen continued; "Now that I passed trought that, I can say your skin is a complete mess. Your legs are simple an amalgamation of flesh put together the right way, the amount of crack-like scars there is staggering, to say the least. Your feet are positively the worst of everything, according to the scars nothing short of amputation would've been the solution for that. Your tights are a little bit better, but not by much. Your reproductive system was also affected but not much, you can safely have children if you so desire. Your torso is pretty bad and a lot of scars are there, but some circle-like scars are the worst and the crack-like scars around them are pretty bad, the area around your ribcage is probably the worst of your torso by far, some areas even appear to be molten.".

She takes a deep breath almost as if she is organizing her thoughts before continuing; " Your arms are also pretty scarred, but that is normal for most combatants and works, the arms are general the parts that suffer more. But for you, that is not the case, they have a lot of crack-like scars yes, but not even close to your legs situation.".

"Your face is bad... very bad... You lost your lips almost completely, there is barely any of it left. Your nose is very banged up and missing some parts here and there. Thankfully your ears appear complete, albeit still full of scars. Your scalp is also very damaged, a lot of hair is missing and lost, the few who were able to endure whatever happened are close to falling. But the worst is the area around your eyes, you lost a lot there, not only was it cracked, but somehow molten as well.".

Hah, my skin's situation is pretty bad huh; "So how should we proceed?".

"Hmm, before we start anything I would like to warn you. Your scars won't be healed completely, that is impossible. Much like your friend Altair's scar, we can make only make it less jagged and rough, like we were refining it. They will be reduced in size and intensity but they will still be there. Drinking a potion I will give you will help you store some of your lost mass, you won't suddenly grow a full lip like you had before, that is impossible, but you will at least have some small lips and recover your nose. Yoru lips will also probably be very scared too.".

Shrugging, I answer; "That doesn't seem so bad. Is this flesh magic or something?".

"No. We are priests, we don't deal with flesh magic. But if you are still disappointed don't be, the potion I will give you don't have only that effect I said earlier.", with that, she got my interest.

"The potion will also help your scars fade a bit... Hmm, how to explain... Have you ever seen people who have scars for a very long time? Like the scars are still there... But they look a bit faded, right?".

I nodded and she continued; "The potion will also do that, not instantly of course, during a long period of time the potion will also accelerate this process of making your scars a little 'faded'. It won't ever remove then they will still be there, but they will look older and faded. Your skin will look like something close to white marble, smooth and with some shadow of cracks and scars.".

I noded accepting the explanation; "That is honestly more than I asked for. Thanks", gratitude seeped from my voice at this moment.

Helen looked at me, I could almost feel the intensity of her stare; "Don't thank me yet. You still owe Mara a favor for this.", I noded portraying my understanding of the agreement.
