“Ness? Ness!” I snapped out of my trance, my eyes slowly focusing on a pair of emerald colored ones.

“Damn, sorry Hales.” I sighed rubbing my eyes, last night's events finally catching up to me.

I felt exhausted.

She rolls her eyes and pursed her lips. “Come on, we need to go to our next class.” She says.

Sighing, I quickly followed Hailey, my best friend out the door.

“Why don't you take your hood off?”

“Huh?”

She looks more annoyed now that it was clear I wasn't paying attention.

“I said, why don't you take your hood off?” To make her point she pulls my hoodie causing me to quickly put it back up.

“I just don't want to.” I glared at her, as we walk down the hallway together.

It was always stuff like this that drove Hailey mad. She was my best friend since freshman year.

We just started talking one day and well, here we were. Hailey has emerald colored eyes, shoulder length blond hair and a pale complexion.

She's the girl that makes the guys crazy but chooses not to since she has me.

I had to ward some off.

Whereas me, fiery red wavy hair, chocolate brown eyes and an almost unhealthy obsession with hoodies?

Nope, we were complete opposites. She's the social one. The one that talks. I'm the person who won't do anything unless provoked too.

Haven't been that way since...

Between me and her, I was always the one taking of her. In return she makes sure I remember to take care of myself. She was more of a sister to me then a best friend.

She knows almost everything about me. The fighting, the constant urge to not hold back and my mother.

“We're going to Ms Swvena's class. She won't approve of that hoodie.” She pointed out, giving me a playful glare.

“Oh whatever, Swvena just needs to lay of the bitchin-”

“Ms Vail! I will not tolerate bad words in my school!” A loud female screech startles my sentence causing me to stop in my tracks.

Hailey looks behind me and smiles smugly with her hands folded.

“Good luck,” She waves, walking to class.

Oh that little-

“Bitch-”

“Ms Vail!” Principal Beatrice shouts once more. I sighed, thinking about a million ways to get out of this situation.

“Hey, Principal B!” I grinned, turning around to meet her piercing gaze. She looks down at me as if trying to intimidating, but failing.

It didn't work on me but it sure worked on other students.

“Care to tell why you decided to ‘bitch' at the world today?” She raises an eyebrow, the corner of her lips turned up to a smile.

My smile grew larger knowing fully well Principal B was letting me off.

“Sometimes a little bitching makes the whole world go round!” I sang, skipping backwards.

She shook her head in exasperation and gave me a playful smile.

“Thanks Prince B!” I shouted, running to my class.

“Vanessa, take the hood off!” She added as I rounded the corner.

Hah, she could try to take it off-

“Leave me alone.” An almost nervous voice stuttered out. I slowed down, tugging my hood lower as I hid behind one of the garbage green colored lockers.

“You listen here you little brat. I will make you suffer in more ways then one if you don't keep shut about this.”

I knew that voice. The bitches of all bitches.

Lauren Belle.

In all her brunette glory with her mini sidekicks right behind her.

They were crowding around a black haired girl who looked to be almost the same height as me.

And I was considered short. The cliche part was, no one was at the hallway to stop them.

Well, no one but me. I feel like the girl in a story where she stumbled upon a fight and chooses to either ignore it or fight back.

Which would normally end up in the girl getting beaten up or if she did win, then something else would happen.

“I won't say anything, I promise!” The scared girl cried out, trapped between the lockers and them.

I found myself scoffing, how dare they decide to hurt others all because they think its fine.

Lauren being Lauren apparently decided her promise wasn't enough because she snatched the girl's bag and proceeded to empty out the contents to the ground.

A pink notebook with a a love shape drawing fell out and Lauren picked it up with a smug smile.

“A diary? Wait till the school hears just how much of a nerd you are.” She spat.

Okay just because she wears glasses doesn't mean she's a nerd! So what if she writes in a diary?

Lauren may be the bitch of the school, but I didn't earn the title Red Devil for no reason.

“You're a piece of garbage you know that right? I mean how fake can you be?”

“However fake she is, she can't be as fake as your nose.” I commented walking out of my hiding spot with my arms crossed against my chest.

Lauren whirls around, her sidekicks doing the same like robots.

Her blue eyes did a scan across my half covered face because of the hood and my attire.

“Come on Belle, do you not have enough excitement in your life that you have to stoop this low?” I said, my voice tinted with hidden anger as I leaned against the lockers opposite them

Hell this wasn't my fight. But if I have the power to stop it why don't I?

“This is none of your business you freak!” She hissed menacingly, stalking towards me.

Her two sidekicks stayed back, keeping the scared girl in place. One was a blond and the other... a pathetic red dye job that's what.

Damn, you look like the traffic light when it turns red.

It didn't even match her green eyes!

“Sure its not, but I don't see why pushing people around is necessary,” I sarcastically spoke, almost on the verge of bitch slapping her fake nose out.

“Who the?fuck?do you think you are to tell me what to do?” Her voice had raised and her long ass nails were held out as if to threaten me.

Try me bitch, I will break that nose so fast you wont even notice its gone.

No longer patient, I kicked off the locker I leaned on and calmly stood in front of her, hands in my pockets.

“I suggest you give me that book.” I pointed at the pink notebook in her hands.

“Or I'm really going to show you what it's like to have a broken nose.” The threat was clear and I wasn't playing around.

Sure, Lauren's the daughter of a father who works in Graymoore at a high position, but that won't stop me from doing what is right.

“You dirty little who-”

I leaned forward and took my hood off revealing my face as my red hair fell on my right shoulder.

She was an inch shorter then me so I was staring down.

Her once malice like face transform to a bit of fear as she took a step backwards.

Yeah you know who I am.

Lauren can try to do anything she wants. But she knows she won't beat me.

“I'll take that,” I snatched the book from her before bumping her shoulder harshly as I walked over to the scared girl who's eyes were filled with awe.

Lauren's mini sidekicks hastily left the girls side and went over to Lauren.

“This isn't over!” She yells trying to regain her pride. Or what's left of it. It never is between me and her.

She stomped her foot like a child and walked off, her robot friends following like a dog that heeds their master.

Typical Lauren. All talk, but she knows she can never fight back.

She may control the school. But she isn't controlling me.

“Th-Thank you,” The girl stuttered, picking up her things. I sighed and picked up the papers that had flown everywhere.

“Don't bother, those bitches will get what's coming to them.” I spoke finally getting up as I handed her, her notebook.

She took it and stuffed it into her bag. “I'm Natalie. Natalie Brooke.” She smiles shyly at me.

“Vanessa Vail, nice to meet you. I'm going to have to cut this conversation short. I'm super late for my class,” I answered, quickly sprinting past her as I remembered I was suppose to go to Ms Swvena's class.

“O-Okay! Thank you again!” She called out.

“Don't mention it!” I shout back, running like a maniac.

Me and my good deeds.
