CHAPTER 6

One day later, I got curious to ask him: "Yesterday, or before it, where had you been all this time?"

He turned away: "I was quite busy"

-"What did they ask you to do"

He turned back to me: "How did you know that?"

-"I kinda overheard them"

He sighed: "I got a message from them threatening my family unless I give them money so I worked and traded some stuff, the final day was yesterday, I... already got the amount they needed but when I waited for the Rendez-vous we made they didn't come, so I got worried and came running, I didn't make it in time but right now, in order to avoid them we'll run away"

-"Why didn't you tell us? We could help you and shorten that quest's time by a lot" He said: "That's just foolish"

I couldn't argue with him a lot more so I just replied: "Right"

He thought again and said: "Well, indeed, I better stayed here and watched after both of you, getting your help is still foolish, but my own decision was way more foolish, that isn't a father's job"

I went closer to him and said: "You know, our teacher once told us that we can't probably change the past and we might already make some mistakes during it, but we can utilize them and learn from them instead of regretting them, I think it was a good opportunity for the both of us to get better in the future, right?"

I never saw it before, but the smile of his that he showed me that time was the kindest:"I guess you're right!"

Later, I got hungry and went to the kitchen, I was imagining my mum cooking lunch for me but when I closed my eyes and reopened them I totally lost her trace, dad came after me and said: "Let's go out to some restaurant and eat something, what do you think?"

I looked down: "I like mum's cooking more"

He stood on one of his knees to face me: "You know that can't be helped, right? There's no way we could get her back, don't worry about her"

He smiled: "Well, she's in a better place than this hell"

I nodded and went with him but I couldn't eat anything, despite my hunger, I didn't have such an appetite, he noticed as well and said: "You know your mum's soul is still alive, she's currently watching you from the heavens, if you don't eat now she'll be so sad!"

He tricked me well and made me eat what I could at that time.
