I never thought I would end up in a school such as this one. The second I entered the foreground of Victoria High something inside me told me to turn back, but I just ignored the feeling. I checked my watch and I realized I was already late for school. Panicking a bit, I picked up my speed and widened my eyes at the halls in front of me. They were so clean and white that it actually blinded my eye sight.
After blinking a few times, I try to locate the head office. Maybe a secretary would help me out. I take a deep breath and pull down on my jean jacket and white shirt as I made my way towards the office. By following the directions on the map that I found on the school's website, I eventually reached my destination. My eyes looked up from my phone and focused on finding the right office, there were many doors. When I found the Secretary's office, I pushed the door open without thinking. What I saw made another knot in my stomach.
A boy and a girl stands next to each other, their backs facing me. They are holding hands and I'm sure they nor the lady in her 30's to 40's sitting at her at desk, facing them, who occasionally lifts her glasses as they slide down her nose, noticed me. I walked a bit further keeping a steady pace and happened to be close enough to hear them talking.
"This is sincerely an honor to have you two here, but, I can't do more for you. The rest you have to do yourself." The secretary fronted her best attempt at being humble, but I could already see right through her fake façade.
The girl with sleek black hair and olive tanned skin finally spoke. Her accent captured my attention for it was remarkably unique.
"Thank you, Madam. We appreciate what you did for us. We'll be going now." She nodded her head and tugged at the guy's hand, but he was having none of it.
After she actually dragged him away, he seemed to move. The siblings or twins in my opinion passed by me. I took this chance to slip over to the front desk.
"Excuse me, Miss" My voice rang and I didn't happen to notice how I caught the attention of the room.
Suddenly a frown replaced the expressions on the Secretary's face but I kept cool and decided to not let it bother me on my first day.
"You can call me Mrs. Mathilda." I could see her jaw tense up because I angered her by assuming she is single. She has a bit of grey hair which added to her blond strands to make her look even more miserable. Her face was slowly starting to get red through her layers of makeup that smoldered her face.
"Let me guess, you're new too." she exhaled.
"Yes Miss-Mrs. Mathilda." I resisted the urge to smirk for I made my wording clumsy on purpose.
Awkward silence followed as she glared at me but I held my ground and didn't show a hint of her intimidating me.
"Here is everything." She spoke avoiding eyes contact, finally giving in. She took my booklet out of a drawer and handed it to me.
"Thank you so much Miss, have a great day." I spoke as I took the booklet.
She looked up and flashed me a fake smile. "You too! Have a great first day!"
I nodded my head and exited the office, only to notice the strange twins both staring at me. Any normal person would ignore their stares. My curiosity got the best of me of me this time as I directed my attention to them.
"Can I help you two?" I smile politely.
"No!" They both shouted in unison.
My suspicion of them being twins is confirmed. Their cheeks both reddened in embarrassment at the same time.
I let a giggle escape my lips as I addressed them. "You must be the new exchange students. Nice to meet you. I'm Mira. A Junior and you?"
"I'm Lorgan and this is my sister, Luna." The boy spoke up in the same gorgeous accent, he also had short smooth black hair and olive tanned skin.
"Oh and well, we are sophomores." Luna smiled sheepishly.
"Can I ask a question?" I was trying to resist my curiosity.
They both nodded their heads in response.
"Well...are you twins?" I asked shortly but excitedly.
They first looked back at each other then back at me and nodded.
"But Lorgan is older than me by a few minutes." Luna replied, smiling less sheepishly this time.
I nodded my head, suddenly an awkward silence covered our atmosphere.
"Oh and uh, I love your accents! Where are you from?" I lightly bit my cheek as I tried breaking the ice.
They both glanced alarmed back at each other and I saw Luna mouth something to Lorgan, which I couldn't make out.
"Oh um well thanks that's nice of you to say that." Luna replied nervously and nudged her brother.
"If you don't mind, speaking about our location isn't something we are ought to share. Besides you won't even know the place if we told you it." Lorgan spoke up.
Odd. Then again, it's not like I'm not trying to conceal my identity either.
"Well, it was nice to meet you both." I spoke as I took off, afraid of how this conversation would progress. I suppose that was rude of me, but I must remember to lay low and not attract too much attention.
I went through the booklet as I tried locating my locker, having a backpack on your back can be quite frustrating. Now I regret coming to this school. My schedule looks like an absolute nightmare and according to the time table, I already missed assembly.
My heart raced as I ran through the school halls looking for my locker. Everyone must now be seated inside, except for well you know...some teachers and rebels.
Finally I reached locker 72 in the end of a corridor and dumped my bag inside. I checked my watch and panicked. I'm already 15 minutes late. The next thing I did was insanely stupid, I ran as fast as I could without caring which direction I was heading- only to crash my head into a guy's head.
How did I know that? It felt like I might as well have bumped my head against a rock.
I fell backwards, landing on my butt, holding myself up by hands. My palms started sweating as I rubbed my head and I had knots everywhere in my stomach now. When I looked up I saw him looking down at me at me with an angry expression as his jaw was clenched, his eyebrows were furrowed and his pale green eyes flickered with rage. I gulped as I continued observing him. First off, he was good looking . Secondly, he has dark auburn color hair. Thirdly, his hair covers his ears and he has a nice crest on his forehead in a wavy pattern, halfway covering his forehead.
"What the hell little girl!" He scoffed and rubbed his head where the collation was, he was barely in pain and faked being even the slightest bit hurt.
I raise an eyebrow while my head throbs painfully. "I'm not that little!" I hiss and try to get up on my feet, but I fall from being too nervous, once again landing on my bottom. I whimpered in embarrassment which made the guy roll his eyes.
"You seem like an idiot." He mutters under his breath and I happen to hear him.
"Excuse me! Look who is talking!" I snap back as I rub my head.
"What unidentified-idiot girl runs through the halls!?" He exclaims.
I bit my cheeks as anger boils inside of me. "What about you!" I exclaim.
He growls a little then stared down at me mockingly.
"Let me guess. You're a new fresh man, who skipped orientation day. Now you're running around like a mad idiot that has no sense of direction."
What a jerk! I grit my teeth and count to ten. Instead of glaring back at him, I stood up and walked towards him, standing on my tip toes. Although he is taller than me, when I stand up on my toes, I'm even higher than him. Looking him in the eyes I state what I want to say.
"Listen here." I poke his chest which he only looked down at my finger with an amused expression. "I'm a junior. I'm new to this school yes and I'm late for assembly. Besides you seem like one of those rebels who runs around bunking everything."
What his response was, was not what I have expected.
"And what if I am?" He smirks, ignoring everything I said before and stepped closer to me.
My eyebrow twitches in annoyance as I feel myself gulp at the same time.
He only chuckles at my expression and ruffles my hair.
I shove his hand away angrily.
"Don't touch me! And you are messing up my hair." I grumbled to hide the fact that I felt like passing out from the collation.
A frown replaced his face as he pats my head hardly.
OW!
"You have a lot to learn about society little girl." He sighs and walks past me like I wasn't even there.
I can't believe he just did that!
"Excuse me! I believe you owe me an apology!" I exclaim.
He smirks as he turns around and runs a hand through his hair.
"I owe you nothing sweetheart." He winked in my direction.
A sudden blush creeps up to my already pink cheeks and I stutter out my words. Great I just got an embarrassing nickname.
"You could have killed me!" I yelled, to hide the urge to wince.
"Nope." He chuckled as he walks towards me.
He leans in towards me and I take a step back. His smirk widens.
"You my dear, is the only one who hit your head, both ways."
After he left me with yet another riddle he winked again and I felt my already red blush deepening.
"Y-You'll regret this." I try to say menacingly only to fail as my head throbbed and I felt my vision getting blurry.
He bursts out laughing and I can only glare weakly.
"Is that a threat?" I wish I could wipe that smirk off his face.
He kept laughing at what I said.
"Your sense of humor is disturbing." I said without emotion, I was done letting this bastard get to me.
He chuckles one more time before 'acting' like he is rubbing tears out of his eyes.
"See you around, whatever your name is." He teased and walked away.
"You first!" I yell after him.
This time he doesn't turn around, but whispers loudly so I could hear him.
"It's a secret." He said and left me hanging as he walked away.
I had to blink to get snapped back in reality. I can't believe I was staring at the spot he used to walk in.
I just wish I knew what he was up to and what his name was.
'Be careful what you wish for' they said.
But at that moment I just wished for him to suffer like me.
