Tempering the Body

Blood of the angels? Callum Princesley—more than anyone else in the crowd who heard the voice—shuddered greatly. He instantly straightened his back and look up at the domineering stare of the great demon. Those flaming blue eyes at the pits of darkness glared at him with coldness.

The Great Illum continued, ["It seemed that the blood of the angels in their family had been long diluted. Perhaps I have become too rash in my judgment. Mistress, I will now impart my blessing of blood. Surely, this lowly mortal would be able to handle the sting of death and life reborn."]

"?!" Artie and Callum were actually shocked when they heard that, but the Great Illum had breathed out black smoke that rushed straight to Callum's body. It quickly suffocated him, and he felt like he was drowning in darkness. The thick liquid of smoke seeped inside his body, and tears came out of his eyes as he held onto his neck. It was not plain drowning, his body now burned in heat and scorch.
