Nathan's outburst didn't hurt Liam as much as he thought it would. It was just a little unexpected but even then, Liam saw it coming. His brother was not exactly the same but there was no evil in his aura when Liam checked it.
So, Liam was just walking casually while talking and laughing with the pack members who were eager to get to know their future Luna and all of them were very supportive and not-so-lowly adored the ground that Liam walked on.
Logan didn't expect less from his pack. He grew up with these people and even though he wasn't much of a talker or hard to approach, the pack and the future Alpha understood each other. But still seeing Liam talking easily with the pack brought him a sense of relief.
Partly because he was relieved that Nathan, that bastard, didn't make Liam go back into his shell after all the things Logan did to break it.
"How are things going on?" Logan felt his father's presence behind him.
"Fine." He said without taking his eyes off of Liam. Apparently, he and Sara had hit it off and now they were like best buddies or something.
"Oh, come on SON." William chuckled. "I thought Liam made you talkative!"
"He did," Logan answered briefly.
William shook his head with amusement. "What do you want to do about Nathan?" He asked. Now that Logan finally had his mate by his side, soon the Alpha title would be his. it was time to get him engaged in the pack's business even more than before.
"I don't think the way he acted before had anything to do with getting infected," Logan said. "It was that bastard's own choice to yell at my mate like that. And he did it himself."
Logan's words were weirdly calm and collected but William could see how mad he was but Logan didn't lose his temper for Liam's sake.
"So, we should free him?" William arched an eyebrow. "Liam is turning you soft and I can't say I don't enjoy it." He smirked. He never really told his son but until Miranda came into the picture, he was just the same as Logan before Liam.
"Is he in the cellar?"
"Nope," William answered. "We have him on house arrest. Even I wasn't sure about what should I do about him. His attitude is different than before and yet, the way he acts doesn't surprise me at all."
"He will stay there," Logan said. "And he will be there until Liam is ready for him to not be."
"Good choice." William patted his son's back with pride. "Now let's go talk with Liam."
"No!" Logan was quick to stop his father.
"What?"
"No one will say one thing about Nathan to Liam!" He growled.
William considered scolding him for talking like this but instead, he just asked, "Why?"
"Don't you know Liam?!" Logan sighed and paused for a moment. "He wouldn't want his brother—who he thought was dead until a couple of days ago, by the way—to get imprisoned because of him."
"He wasn't imprisoned because of Liam."
"Well, it doesn't matter! Liam will think like that."
William nodded. "That's true." Then he smirked. "Your mate did bring out your tongue."
Logan didn't answer but when he thought about it, he realized that his father is right. He never bothered to talk with others more than a few words and now, he would talk and talk till eternity if Liam asks him to.
"—And he cried nonstop until we finally let him have his unicorn toy on his bed."
Logan walked over to his mate only to find his mother telling stories about his childhood which was super embarrassing. "Mom!" He protested as soon as he recognized what story she was telling.
"You were such a gay kid," Liam said in between laughing. "You're even gayer than me."
Then he literally laid on the floor and continued laughing. "I can't believe you actually cried for a rainbow-shaped hair brush!" He laughed with his eyes closed so he didn't see Logan smiling softly at him but Miranda did.
"You were a cute kid." Liam finally stopped laughing and got up while smiling as he embraced Logan in a quick hug and then leaned on him.
"You two are so cute." Miranda cooed at her son and his mate. At this point, she was trying so hard to not squall. "Stay here! I'm going to get my camera!" She promised and then quickly left.
"If we leave right now, I say we can escape to the Garden in a minute," Logan grumbled and nuzzled his mate's cheek.
"Don't be like that!" Liam laughed, showing that he was joking. "Your mom has so much energy, and so does uncle William. Who did you get your attitude from?"
"Well, one of us has to be on the ground." Logan kissed Liam's forehead. "You're too high up in the sky. I balance you. I get you close to the ground enough to think rationally."
Liam rolled his eyes and chuckled. "I was joking!"
"I know." Logan smiled a small smile.
"But!" Liam said matter-of-factly. "I am NOT on the clouds. I am very much on the ground with the most rational thoughts that this universe has ever seen."
"Okay. You are right." Logan scoffed. He was enjoying this side of his mate. "You're not on the clouds. You're way higher. You know… floating in space, you are."
"Oh, shut up." Liam laughed.
"But don't worry Liam." Logan ignored Liam and continued with a smirk on his face and a fond look in his eyes as he looked at his mate. "I love you just the way you are. My sweet high-on-the-cloud mate with the most un-rational thoughts."
"And I love you Mr. Grumpy, Scowling, Rational, Never-Saw-The-Stars-And-Weirdly-Is-Not-Planning-To-See-Them. And you know what? I'm gonna show every single star in the world to you and you show me the flowers on the ground."
"Perfect plan." Logan smiled and Liam mirrored his action as their lips met each other.
"Say cheese!"
