Chapter 18: Gamma's Powers, Part One

Liam didn't let Logan drag him back to the safety of the packhouse. Instead, Liam window-shopped around the city and eventually bought some clothes for himself.

Logan was careful and he checked their surroundings every minute. Not so much has been said about pixies. They don't have anything to show them how pixies got defeated. And that scared Logan more than the pixies themselves.

"Logan." Liam realized that his mate was getting more protective and edgy with every passing second. "Let's go back home."

Logan knew that Liam was saying his just because he didn't want him to get edgier and relax but he couldn't make himself feel bad about it. Supposed to be dead ancient creatures are walking around Earth like they hadn't been destroyed completely once.

"Okay," he said. "Where did I parked the car?"

"I remember," Liam grinned at him. "I'll tell you if you let me drive."

"Do you even know how to?" Logan looked at him suspiciously.

"A little," Liam shrugged innocently. Logan was quick to open his mouth and object but Liam quickly continued. "Can you teach me? Please?"

Logan sighed. Liam knew exactly what he was doing and he was doing it well. "You are one evil thing." He sighed and Liam smiled with victory. "Lead the way."

Logan smirked when Liam walked in front of him. Liam could cheat but Logan had his moves too. They passed a few blocks until Logan's black car came into view.

"The key." Liam grinned and stretched his hands toward Logan but to his surprise, Logan swiftly moved past him and opened the door to the driver's seat.

"Hey!" Liam frowned. "You promised I would drive!" Logan chuckled at how cute Liam looked, whining like this. Only if he was whining for something else…

"Sorry, babe," Logan smirked at him from the now open window of the car. "And I never promised anything, remember?"

"Touché." Logan scoffed and then got in the car. "You are the best and worst person in the world."

"I love how you insult and compliment me at the same time." Logan chuckled again and then started to drive. "I also love how they neutralize each other."

Liam glared at him half-heartedly. He was fighting a smile. Now that there were no people around them, Logan seemed to be more relaxed about being himself and talking or laughing openly. Sometimes Liam wondered if this is because Logan had a traumatic accident but no haunting emotions were coming from him.

    Oh. My. God.

Logan turned for a brief second to look at Liam. "What happened? What's wrong?"

"I don't know," Liam mumbled and he instantly continued to talk when Logan's eyes moved toward him again. He didn't want to die because of a car accident. "Look toward the road!"

Logan snapped his eyes back to the road ahead of them. "Sorry. But what's wrong? You just said 'oh my god' and it did not sound happy at all."

"So, I was thinking about how you're more relaxed around me and maybe it has something to do with your past and maybe you had an accident or something with people."

"I didn't." Logan interrupted with a small chuckle leaving his mouth. "I just don't like people."

"With no reason at all?" Liam raised his eyebrows but Logan knew he was just being curious and he wasn't judging him.

    "With no reason at all."

"I like people though. Mostly." Liam said and then quickly waved off the topic. "Anyway. So, I was thinking about this and then my next thought was 'it's not the case because 'no haunting emotions are coming from him' which doesn't even make sense. How would I know?"

Logan remembered what his father talking to him about different types of wolves. William had also mentioned Gammas, who are incredibly rare.

"Back in the cellar," Logan said with his eyes fixed on the road. "You said 'I'm a Gamma'. How did you realize it? I'm pretty sure that dad thought you were an Omega and I have a feeling that so did you."

"I am an Omega." Liam shrugged. "There's a lot of things that haven't been recorded because either no one wanted others to know or simply got lost in history."

"Which means…?" Logan trailed off. For a second, h thought about himself and Liam and the talking that he did here is probably more than the whole talking that he did in his whole life.

"There aren't Gammas and Deltas and whatever. We have three main types: Alpha, Beta, and Omega." Liam explained. "I'm an Omega but there's a gene in Omega's bloodlines that can get activated if one's wolf has enough power to carry it.

"I hear my parents' hushed conversations about this." Liam's eye saddened at the mention of his parents but he continued talking nonetheless. "And when the wolf's power gets triggered, then the Gamma side will show itself. It was just a feeling for me."

"What triggered yours?" Logan asked. He was careful with his words to not trigger something himself.

"Just the overwhelming feeling of protectiveness that I got when Nathan was experiencing pain." Liam shrugged. "And I suddenly knew he was innocent. I didn't want to say this and concern you but when I was looking at Nathan and the next moment we were kissing.

"I just don't know what happened but I knew that he was innocent the moment I felt my Gamma side. Then earlier, when Nathan was yelling like that, I just knew that he what he was feeling like the last time but I brushed it off again. That's how I was sure he wasn't under influence of anything but himself."

Logan nodded slowly and said, "We will talk to the elders about this. Asking them if they know anything or not."

    "No!"
