Celestial artefact

"Wow, Yoru you actually didn't do too badly. I wish I could have done as much as you had. Have you ever trained with a sword before, because you looked like a pro?" Emilia asked me as we went towards the room with the celestial artefact.

"Thanks, Emi. But no, not at all. As soon as I picked the sword up it just felt right. After some time of getting adjusted to it, the sword felt like it belonged to my body. Kind of like if my right hand had suddenly lengthened, I don't know if you can understand that feeling. I was also quite surprised and that made me confident to go up against Mr. Black but in the end I still lost just like everyone else", I said, still wondering what happened back there. I could clearly feel a foreign power flowing into me from the sword, a similar feeling to the celestial energy infusion yesterday. But that shouldn't be possible, it was just a piece of steel after all.

We were one of the first groups to arrive at the other room so we didn't have to wait too long. Ivan and Adrik went first, since they already had not much hope in this test. And just as expected, they both got an F rating, which put Ivan's overall rating to an E- and Adrik's to an straight E.

Next up was Emilia. She was very nervous again, probably even more than in the last test. Her goal was to get a good average rating but with an F in the other two, everything depended on this one.

She went up to the celestial artefact and put her hand on it just like the two boys did. On the bottom of the artefact there were several smaller stones, which will show the result by lighting up. Every small stone stood for an improvement in rating and the more light up the higher ones celestial energy is. Two of them of them lightening up stood for rank E, for example. I looked at Emilia standing there and could make out the celestial energy flowing from her into the artefact. It was brighter than yesterday when she awakened with the help of Lisa. Soon after, one of the smaller stones lit up but Lisa told Emilia to keep calm and continue with the test. After one more minute, three of the smaller stones were shining brightly and the forth one was only dimly lit.

"Congrats, Emilia. It seems like you have a very great potential with your celestial energy. As of now, you were the best of all the students today. According to the stone, your rating is D+. You are close to a C since the forth stone also had a small reaction. This will put your overall rating to an E, well done", Lisa said, cheering for Emilia.

Emilia was obviously very happy now and ran towards me.

"Did you see Yoru? I'm not completely useless after all. Maybe I can become a strong healer one day", she said, dreaming for the future.

I also congratulated the cheerful girl and had a short talk with her. Lisa was waiting for us, but she didn't mind that. She might be the nicest teacher of this school, I was very happy that she would be our main mentor for the rest of the time here.

Now it was my turn. I didn't get my hopes up, as the awakening yesterday failed. But in the back of my mind I was still hoping for something, since I seem to be able to see celestial energy in a way. I went up to Lisa and put my hand onto the artefact.

As soon as I put it up there, I could feel the celestial energy flowing again but his time it was drained out of me and went straight to the artefact. I felt weak and had to try to keep myself from falling over. However, I pulled through and as Lisa told me to stop, I took my hands of the artefact. I looked at the artefact, but there wasn't a single stone lighting up. Lisa said: "Don't worry, Yoru. This was to be expected since you haven't awakened your celestial energy yet. For now you will be graded with an F but that may change drastically in future tests", she said, proving my concerns.

"If you feel weak, sit over there by the wall, there are a couple chairs standing over there", she whispered to me, so only I could hear her. I wondered how it could be that I'm so drained of energy and still only managed an F.

"Oh my, seems like you should eat more Yoru. Your skin is whiter than usual, you are lacking energy in your body", Lisa said louder again, so everyone could hear. She helped me get to the chairs and then went to get me something to eat. Actually, I was feeling hungry, how did she figure that out?

After she came back with a portion of equal size to my meal, which was already a double that of other students, I ate all of it once again. My stomach seemed to be like a bottomless hole, but I didn't mind eating so much as the food was very delicious.

"By the way, your average rating will be an F+ but I think you will improve that very fast", Lisa told me with a smile on her face.

"I will give it my best", I said.

Lisa went away once again but oddly she didn't head for the artefact. Instead she asked another teacher to continue with the testing. Lisa herself was nowhere to be seen.

"That girl is clearly something else. Something we may have never seen before. Luckily, I had my suspicions and manipulated the artefact, so that it won't show its real results. Nobody except me should know it for now, else Yoru might be in danger. A kid at an age of 12 years with a celestial energy of a B+ rating isn't something ever seen before, at least to my knowledge. My best guess is, that she may not be a hybrid but a full-fledged demon instead. I just wonder, how and why she was sent to the human nation and grew up in an orphanage then", Lisa thought to herself, as she headed back to her room. She actually only wanted to test Yoru anyways, but Mr. Black had taken more time than expected, so she also tested the students coming before her.

Her manipulation of the test didn't go unnoticed, however….
