Yoru’s sword training begins

After lunch, we once again went to our practical lesson. As we arrived, Lisa came up to us and asked: "Why are you looking so sadly, students? Has something happened in your morning lesson?"

"Well, Mr. Black told us about the way humans can become as strong as hybrid and he also threw in his personal backstory. It really dampened the mood", I said, answering her.

"Oh really, very interesting. I didn't think he would take a liking to you students so soon. He has become quite the softie. Anyway, Yoru before we start with the lesson, I have to talk to you one on one. Please follow me", she said, and went ahead. I followed after her racking my brain what she could want from me.

We got to another room, which was away far enough from the training hall, so that we were sure to be alone. Lisa told me to sit down and then she took the seat opposite from me.

"Yoru I have taken you here to give you an offer. I want to make you my disciple, which means you will have extra training lessons with just me after regular classes. I will make sure to treat you well, as I see great talent in you. I think you may be able to become a magical swordswomen surpassing me one day. What do you think about it? It is your decision, you decide", she told me out of the blue, sitting there looking very beautiful with her casual attitude. She was smiling as always and I couldn't believe my luck. I didn't expect any teacher taking a liking to me because of my lacking strength right now. However, Lisa always seemed really nice and caring towards me, maybe she sensed something about me which she didn't tell me.

I exactly knew what to answer and said: "Yes I would love to, but I don't think I'm worthy to call you my master. Even you said my strength is only at an F+, there are a lot of other students with higher strength than me. I may have a talent with the sword but I lack all the training. Some of the others have been trained by their parents before and are ahead on my by a ton of experience, so much that even I could notice."

"No worries, I don't want to take you as a disciple because of your current strength. I see a talent in you, which I didn't see in any other student I have ever taught and I'm sure you will be able to catch up to your peers in no time if you study well", she said, conforming my suspicion that she didn't tell me everything she noticed in the test.

"Maybe she just didn't want the other teachers to snatch me away from her as a disciple", I thought but in the end I didn't really care as I was happy that she took me in.

"Because you are my disciple now, you won't be taking part in today's regular lesson. Instead I will teach you the basic of sword training today. We will start off with a short spar between the both of us, which allows me to see your skills for myself. Take one of the swords hanging at the wall over there and when you're ready, attack me", she said as she stood up and took out her sword which was resting in the shaft bounded to her hips. She took a battle ready stance and was waiting for me to do the same.

I took a look at all the swords hanging at the wall, but none of them caught my eye, so I just grabbed the nearest one. This sword felt way heavier than the one from yesterday and I couldn't get used to it at all. I decided to try another sword but it was the same thing again. After a couple more tries, Lisa starting speaking: "If you aren't able to get comfortable with any of these swords, then you must have taken another type of sword yesterday. Did you feel something similar to the awakening as you touched to sword?"

"Yeah, it felt somewhat similar. I don't get this feeling from any of these swords here and they are all so heavy. Yesterday I could easily handle the sword with one hand but for those here I will probably need both hands", I said, worrying that Lisa might have seconds thought about me becoming her disciple.

"No worry, I know what your problem is. You see, the sword you used yesterday wasn't an ordinary one. It was a magical sword, which requires one to use celestial energy. Your body is able to grasp such things without you being aware of that, which is a rare talent. This makes you able to wield a magical sword despite you not being able to use celestial energy actively. For now however, you will need to train the basics with a normal sword, because they aren't any different from a magical sword. Once you master these basics, we will switch over to magical swords. Forget the sparring for now, I will show you how you train yourself to handle these normal swords first", Lisa explained, as she put her sword back into the shaft.

She took a sword from the wall and showed me how to hold it. At the start, I should hold it with both hands and practice swinging it. I have to do this exercise until I won't get tired from it, even after continuously practicing for half an hour. Once I'm able to do that, Lisa will tell me the next steps.

I started swinging the sword just like Lisa showed me, but after five swings I already felt tired. Lisa noticed this, but told me to continue until the sword would fall out of my hands. Five more minutes went by and my grip had loosened enough to let the sword drop. I dropped to the floor soon after because of the built up exhaustion.

Lisa smirked at me and said: "Well done, now rest for ten minutes and then repeat the training."

"Oh noo."
