Actually the beast wasn't a dragon, only a lesser one called a wyvern. Those are far weaker than regular dragons and can be tamed by humans to become a method of transportation. With the wyvern the travel would take us only around half a day instead of a week by foot.
To my surprise the ride in the cabin felt quite comfortable. If I hadn't known, I wouldn't have been able to tell that I'm up high in the sky traveling at a fast speed. Apparently, celestial energy could be used in many ways which we hadn't heard or thought of before. We had seen the alarm and the artefact so far, not to talk of the many different kind of weapons. But an object as big as this cabin was something new and surely needed a load of celestial energy.
Lisa borrowed it from the school, it had access to one of these beasts. The headmaster used it most of the time but Lisa somehow persuaded him. Mr. Black also appeared to be accustomed to the wyvern. According to him, the headmaster always likes to have a travel companion which just happened to be Mr. Black.
The only regret I felt was not being able to enjoy the scenery while traveling. The cabin lacked windows and going out to catch some fresh air didn't sound like the best idea of the day.
The journey went by without anything noteworthy to happen and we soon arrived at the border to the demon nation. Only weak demons or demon hybrids lived on the demon side, while only some humans lived at the human side. Most of those were strong, they made their living there after all. Thanks to the close proximity to the demon nation many odd jobs were available. Those ranged from escort missions to monster hunting. Monsters appeared more likely close to celestial energy so the demon nation attracted them. Demons also have an affinity with monsters which allows them to tame the monster easily. Of course, a stronger demon is still needed a stronger monster.
But we didn't come here for serious matters, at least not for now. Despite all what was happening in the area, it also happened to be the place with the only beach in the human nation. Only the rich and powerful would come here from time to time.
We landed near the beach and hid the wyvern in the nearby forest. The rest of the way we went on foot to a close village where we would be able to stay for a couple nights. Lisa paid for the rooms as kind of a gift for us. Two of us shared a room each; I stayed with Emilia as usual. The room appeared to be quite expensive for the quality of it but there wasn't any other choice anyways.
The village appeared quite run down and most houses were left unoccupied. Only some brave humans decided to run their business here with a better margin for them on top of it. Some of them hadn't come for a better profit however. They were the outcast of humanity, the worst of the worst who couldn't settle themselves down anywhere else. All different types of criminals met in a village like this one, which was the other reason nobody travelled to the beach.
Lisa told us to leave as little of our package as possible back in the rooms. Despite all the danger lurking around the corner not a single one of us was scared. After all, we were hybrids and these criminals would be stupid to attack us. Even if they did, we had Mr. Black and Lisa who could take quick care of them.
Having seen the village, we finally walked towards the beach. A short while later and we arrived there. What we could see shocked all of us, even Mr. Black looked surprised. The beach came across as just… Amazing. Clear water, fine sand and the scorching sun made it look like a painting at the right angle. Upon closer inspection, the water was so clear one could see to the bottom of the ocean even in deeper areas.
Looking around, we were the only people here. The villagers got scared us, so they left us on our own.
The only building at the beach was a small hut which got used by us to change ourselves. First the boys and Mr. Black changed into their swimming trunks, then us girls changed. I had seen the other girl's swimsuits before but no Lisa's. She wore a quite revealing Bikini which complemented her body and made me see how much I lacked behind an adult, I was still as flat as a board. The boys on the other hand had a hard time avoiding to look at Lisa constantly, whereas Mr. Black controlled his urges and behaved like usual with his cold attitude.
Having changed, we immediately headed for the water. Iris and I used the footbridge to jump into the deeper parts of the water while the rest went for the more shallow parts. Having jumped in, I felt refreshed. The water unexpectedly was quite warm thanks to the lack of waves. Actually, six months ago I wouldn't have been able to jump in like this. Back then I couldn't even swim. We had to learn it in the hybrid school as a sort of basic survival skill.
Around five hours passed till we finally had enough of the beach for the day. Iris and I already started some challenges to see who the faster swimmer is and our usual training attitude came back into effect. Instead of relaxing we focused on training, just in a different way.
The village had an unused thermal water source which we used to relax ourselves in the evening. The natural heat of the water made it so it needn't be heated up. Of course, we separated ourselves by gender. I felt sorry for the boys, both of them had to hang around with Mr. Black all the time. However, they seemed to get along with him to a decent degree.
And just like that, the week flew by in basically no time. The routine was the same every day and our bodies were finally able to relax. One day, some villagers attacked us as we travelled back from the beach in the evening. Well, they certainly learned their lesson to say the least. Mr. Black barely left them alive and no more incidents happened all week. We were even treated more nicely in the village, the fear of our teacher had gotten the better of them.
We headed back to the forest where we left the wyvern to travel back to the school…

Yoru and the rest got into the cabin of the wyvern again and soon after, they took off. This however didn't go unnoticed by a certain someone resting in the shadow, over watching the borders to the human nation….
