We played music the whole way when we were getting close to Ruby's house something unexpected happened. A song I made when I was only 15 started playing.
"Is this you?!" Ruby's mom looked at me with a shocked face.
"Yes, mam," I replied and looked down because of embarrassment.
"Haya oh my goodness! this is good, amazing in fact. I did not know you are into music dear, why did you keep quiet about it for all this time?" she asked.
"It is just a hobby and thank you so much," I said and immediately changed the song.
"No! why did you do that? play that song now!" she reprimanded me in a motherly loving way.
"I made this song a long time ago, I was only a stupid fifteen-year-old. I did not know what I was doing." I replied pausing the music.
"Why would you think that about yourself? you were not stupid Haya, you are talented sweetheart," she replied caressing my thigh.
"I do not think I am talented, I am just passionate about whatever it is I do. I do not care about making it big, I just care about healing and inspiring other people because at the end of the day we all need some INSPIRATION. That is the name of the song, INSPIRATION." I replied.
Ruby's mom took my phone and started playing the song out loud. She surprisingly memorized the lyrics and started singing out loud with a smile on her face.
"Inspiration, Inspiration, Inspiration I just need some inspiration.
Mmh mmh mmh
Inspiration, Inspiration, Inspiration I just need some inspiration.
Mmh mmh mmh" she sang my song out loud. It was like she related to it, her eyes closed as she let the music take over her soul. It was so beautiful to watch what something I made with pure love could give someone so much joy. It looked like she felt understood by the artist she was listening to and that is what I have always wanted.
I just want you to understand me so that I can also understand you.
"You really should release this song, I know you do not want to blow up but this is going to put you out there. This is the type of music that everyone should be listening to, it speaks to you," she replied touching where the heart is found.
"I do not know, my parents do not want me to do this. They want me to just have a profession and be successful." I replied.
"The question is, what do you want?" she immediately replied.
"I just want to do what makes me happy," I replied looking out the window.
"Then do want makes you happy, you have my support. Always!" she replied grabbing my hand and almost squeezing it. I replied nodding my head.
While I was looking out the window, I saw a young man who was dancing next to the robots. I looked to check if he had something for people to throw money in but he had nothing. He moved so creatively and freely. He looked passionate about every move he took, what mostly caught my eyes is how his face looked. You could see he is not a rich man but he looked so happy I doubt I have seen someone who looked at peace with themselves the way he did.
He danced because he loved dancing. He did not do it for money, he did it for himself. He did not care if anyone noticed him or not, he kept moving because that is what he does. I have never gotten a better answer than this in my life, I knew from that moment that I am going to start doing what makes me happy. This man is the inspiration I have been seeking.
"Can I go give that man something?" I asked Ruby's mom.
"Yes, let me get out of the road and park the car somewhere safe," she replied.
I got out of the car and went straight to the man I saw dancing.
"Hello mister, I would love to give you this," I said handing him the check Ruby gave me later on today.
"What?! oh no my sister, I can not take so much money from you," he replied.
"No I insist, go buy yourself something. You just changed my life by just doing what you do. This is just an R5000 check, I would give you more if I had it. You have inspired me so much today and most importantly you do not do it for money." I replied.
"It is not that I do not need the money, I just want people to give it to me because they fell in love with seeing me dance. My sister I can see that you have so much passion for something in your eyes, please never give up on your dreams because of numbers. Appreciate the small amount of anything you get in your life, you will forever be at peace." he said taking the check.
"Thank you so much, I will never forget you and I will surely take your advice. Have an amazing day sir." I replied walking to the car.
"You too!" he yelled.
When I got inside the car, I saw him jumping up and down out of excitement. I feel at peace with who I am and I am glad I gave him money. He deserves it.
"That is a very noble thing to do dear, I am proud of you and always remember the kind deeds you have done. They will lead you onto the right path." Ruby's mom replied starting the car.
"Thank you," I replied.
We finally arrived at Ruby's house and I honestly need to take a long warm bath because I do not smell nice at all.
While I was in the bathtub I started thinking about where I am going to start this whole journey. I mean my parents already do not support it, well I do not know about my mother but my father made himself clear. I am going to do this anyway, no one is going to stand in my way. It is only the beginning of the journey I know for sure God wants me to take.
