The Real Truth

I wake up in my room hoping everything that happened was just a dream. But too soon I realize I was wrong with a headache and blurry vision for a few seconds till my eyes adjust to the lighting in the room.

I look at my nightstand to find three Advil and a cup of water for me. I take the Advil downing the water to help it go down.

I get out of bed to find I'm not wearing the same close I had on yesterday. I really hope they had a woman to change me into my sleepwear.

I hop into the shower washing off yesterday hoping to forget it all. But I just can't I have to ask what really is going on and why I had to leave.

I get out to dry off to wrap my towel around me again to realize I forgot clothes. I go to my dresser to grab what I need while I'm grabbing some yoga pants and a long t-shirt. Once I'm fully dressed, I grab my phone and walk out the door. Since I didn't have it with me when I was kidnapped.

I walk to my father's office knowing he is home still because he doesn't leave until noon. I walk in without knocking like I use to do before I had to move as a kid.

Before I could ask questions, my father beats me to it instead. "Nora, I know you would come straight here. Sit down, please. I know you want answers so I'm going to give you answers unlike your mother ever tried to explain anything to you." He says not even looking up from his laptop.

I don't know how he knew it was me. Maybe it's because I'm the only person who doesn't knock on his door. I walk over to the chair next to his desk as I look at him. He hasn't changed from the day I left but this time he doesn't have red eyes from crying from a broken heart and the thought of me leaving with my mother too.

"Yes, I want answers and from the beginning too," I say demanding as I sit down. "Okay but I want you to know that I never wanted this to happen to you." He says looking up at me as he closes his laptop.

"Alright, why did it?" I asked needing to know why. I have every right to know. "It all started when I met your mother. She was supposed to marry my brother but she married me instead which our father didn't like one bit but when he found out that your mother was pregnant with a girl. He was more than joyful. My brother already had a three-year-old son from the women he married. So, our father got the idea of marrying you and your cousin together but at the time your mother didn't know what my father had planned to do when you turned the age of 9. I tried to stop him but he had people working for him even though he gave me the family business." My father says looking at me with sad eyes.

"What happened?" I ask wanting to know. "He tried to kidnap you but failed when Shane and Nick walked in on it happening to see you fighting back, the man hit you so hard that you almost died. That was the finally stroll for your mother. She decided to leave a week after that only leaving you with nanny's as she went to do stuff only for me to find out that she was having an affair with someone out of the city taking you with her the last night to be with that man only for him to die not long after leaving everything to her." He says looking heartbroken to relive it all over again.

"How long was the affair? And what happened to your father? My so-called uncle only kidnapped me to marry his son to keep the business in the family but I feel like there is more too it because he tried to rape me in the basement before I kneed him between the legs " I ask needing to know more. It's all coming together but there is something missing.

"The affair lasted five years before she finally left and taking you with her. He is in prison for almost killing you and for trying to kidnap you. You were promised to Mr. Jason son if you agreed to marry him that's if I ever involved you in the family business. Which I wasn't planning on doing at all. But it seems your uncle knew what he was doing when he took you. Knowing I would have to tell you." My father says looking more ashamed them sad.

"So, I'm not happy with you keeping this from me but at least your telling me the truth then my mom because she wouldn't tell me anything. But doesn't it mean now that I have to marry Mr. Jason's son now?" I ask not looking up at my father.

Yes and no, but that's if you want to for the business. But I'm not going to let you do something like that." He says walking over to me stopping once he is in front of me. "Are you sure? Because I'll do it." I ask looking up at him now. "Yes, I'm sure. Now let's go get some food and you can think about this later if you want in on the business or not." He taking my hand to walk into the kitchen.

"Alright, I'll think about it," I say as we walk into the kitchen to see Shane and Nick at the table. "Hey Nora, how you feeling?" Nick says pulling me into a hug.

"I feel fine for now," I say hugging him back. "You had us worried to death when we couldn't find you till we check the cameras to see you were kidnapped." He says looking like he is hiding something else too. Mhm, I'll find it out soon but I need to make my decision in a few days.

"Well, it wasn't my fault that I got kidnapped by my crazy uncle. Now move I want some food to eat." I said pushing past him to grab something to eat before walking to my room for the rest of the day for my decision making to do.
