Chapter 20

I looked up at the source of the deep, husky voice. My jaw dropped when I saw the sight infront of me.

"Tayto?" I asked, stranding up abruptly.

I jumped and hugged him tightly closing my eyes in the proses. I grabbed the back of his school jumper tightly as if was going to loose him.

His real name was David aka. Tayto. We go waaayyy back. All the way back to preschool. Our parents grew up together as well. All though his died a few weeks before mine did.

A horrific carcrash.

We did everything together. When his parents died he came in and lived with me. When my parents died we were captured by the same orphanage. A year into that orphanage we found out that all the kids were really prisoners waiting to be killed. We found out, the hard way. The owners of the orphanages were also leaders of the biggest mafia in America. Every year 3 children from the orphanage were taken to America and trained to be part of the mafia. One year me, David and another boy were chosen. We trained together but we didn't get great treatment at all. We were starved, shot in the legs, bet up, choked and some, unfortunately, were raped and even killed. They left every child scared.

If you turned 18 and still wasn't chosen to be part of the mafia or got a home, you were left on the street to die the minute you turned 18. No later, no earlier.

One day the mafia was having trouble with a shipment as another powerful mafia challenged them. Everyone was to go and help kill the opposition. Including me and David. Keep in mind we were nine years of age at that time. We arrived and were instantly met with other fighters. Me and David were split up. I was faced with a fully built, muscular female. I knew I stood no chance against her. But she came at me so I attacked her in defence. She won, taking the bag drugs with her.

My boss' who was standing back watching everyone risk their lives for them, fixed their gazes on my weak and bruised body. I looked to my right and saw David running from an opponent. Then bang! David fell to the ground with a thud a few feet away from me. I turned to my boss who was now standing with his gun pionted at me.

*Fash back*

YOU LET HER GET AWAY!"- shouted my boss.

"You know what, we never needed you anyway."- he grumbled angrily as he swiftly grabed his small, black pistol from his back pocket and pointed the gun at my stomach.

"Please, no!"- I begged. I could feel tears pouring uncontrollably from my already swollen eyes. My body was aching with pain from the violent fight my boss' gang had just fought.

*BANG*

Boss had pulled the trigger of his pistol and shot me in the lower abdomin.

Boss had already fled the scene caused by him and his gang.

I lay on the cold floor of the warehouse hallway unable to move, where my boss had shot me. I was to weak to move and decided to stay put and lay still.

My eyes were slowly closing as I was losing too much blood from the bullet wound causing me to slowly loose consciousness.

The last thing that I remember hearing before I completely balcked out was people shouting a few hallways over from where My body was laying.

(From Chapter 1).

*End of Fash Back*

So ya. I never seen him after that. I thought he died the same night I was meant to.

We held no secrets to our selves. David knew that I survived my families death. Unlike the rest of the world.

I felt a tear drop down my face as he embraced me tightly aswell. We stood there for a few seconds, letting our heads process each others presence.

" Did I miss something?" I heard Ryders familiar voice echo behind me. I flinched and quickly peeled myself from David.

I dusted myself down and spoke up. "Oh Ryder, David. David, Ryder." I introduced them to each other gesturing to each when I said their name. I slaped a soft smile on my face and rubbed my tears off my face hurriedly. "Okay, nice to meet you David!" Ryder greeted David while holding his hand out for a hand shake.

Weird.

"Cam can I talk to you?" Ryder asked turning to me.

"Um.."

"It's fine I'll talk to you later Haribo!" David confirmed while winking at me. Then he turned and walked away.

Haribo. That what he used to call me when we were younger. At home we used to sneak down stairs to steal some Haribos and crisps for us to eat during the night. The brand of his favourite crisps were Tayto so that's how we came to that conclusion.

Ryder slid his hands into his pockets and sighed. Then looked around the fixed his gaze at me. Man why am I so small? "How do you know each other?" Ryder enquired staring straight through me. "Oh David? Um.. Eh..." I mumbled quietly trying to make up an exuse that he would belive. "Spit it out." He ordered.

"We were old friends from school." I lied and gulped straight after avoiding his gaze. "Is that so?" Ryder teased leaning forward to meet my hight. He stared at me for a second before straightening his back and responding with a smile on his face. "Okay then. That great the fact the both of you are in Ireland is cool." Ryder cheered but I could see he was still trying to figure out something. I couldn't pin point was it was though. He is such a hard person to read.

Ryder turned around and handed me a my school bag filled with the books from my locker. He aslo handed me a schedule. "We're in different clases so I'll see you at lunch. We'll meet here okay." Ryder announced before brushing passed me and heading down the wide hall way to his first class.

"That was intense!"
