Rondy didn't deserve this, and I couldn't approach him with Ivan around. Rondy was my friend and though I craved Ivan with an animalistic need, it killed me to think that Rondy was hurt. That's how friends cared for one another. Maybe one day a friendship between Ivan and I would grow, but it obviously wasn't necessary to mate. Right now, I didn't even like him.
I ran to the house and leaped up the stairs to the second floor. I shifted to human in the room I shared with Cecily and angrily pulled on clothes. Looking out the window to the inner courtyard, I saw everyone working to clear away the leftover construction material. I didn't see Rondy. Cecily was barking out orders like she was born to the job.
"We will be spending a lot of time out here and the baby needs a safe place to toddle without nails. They can't be that hard to find."
