A monstrous scream tore through the air.
Dazed, Elaine looked around wildly, to locate the hideous shriek.
She scrambled to her feet, but she was quickly knocked down again by another hit. A deep growl echoed through the forest, sending birds flying from treetops. She rolled and tried to find cover. She sought the refuge of a tree and quickly ran to it.
Adrenaline pumped through her veins. She had not expected this; what was this monster? Who sent it?
She dared to glance around the tree to see her foe.
It stood no taller than Elaine herself, but seemed to be made entirely out of glass, for it was transparent.
Elaine was filled with horror at the sight of the creature. Although humanoid in shape and size: two arms, two legs, a head, it was all jagged shapes, and jutting lines. Pieces of the glass, or what seemed like glass, jutted out in every direction, overlapping each other.
The edges looked wickedly sharp.
