Elaine once again found herself in the chamber of the queen. Once again, she was bound with ropes and magic, and could not move.
The fire crackled in the hearth, and the queen was pacing in her room. She looked agitated, pausing every few steps and swiping her fingers across her forehead, as if to rid herself of a headache. Then, she would lower her hands to her sides, but her fingers drummed against her leg.
"I'm surrounded by fools and idiots," she said.
She whipped her head toward Elaine. "I suppose you think that you and your little team are winning," she said.
Elaine had no idea what she meant, so she kept silent.
